Isabella quickly memorized the answers from the internet. Then, with a bright smile, she turned to Samuel. “Alright, Samuel helped me pick out a dress. Now it’s my turn to help you with your homework. Get your papers out, and I’ll teach you.”
Samuel hurriedly handed over his worksheets. Isabella simply read out the answers she’d memorized, one by one, for him to copy down.
“Isabella, why do you write it like this here? Why is this way correct? What was wrong with how I did it before? And I don’t understand this equation. What does it mean? Why do you calculate it this way?”
The barrage of questions made Isabella’s head spin. After enduring it for a while, she finally said, “Samuel, just copy down all the answers first. After you’re done, I’ll explain each one to you, okay?”
‘Ridiculous,‘ she thought. “The solution steps posted online were gibberish to me. How was I supposed to explain them? If he didn’t hurry up and finish copying, I’d forget the later answers myself.
“Okay,” Samuel agreed, obediently writing down all the answers as instructed.
Once he was done, fearing more questions, Isabella quickly changed the subject. “Samuel, let’s go buy that rainbow cotton candy now! If we’re late, the line will be huge, and we might not get any.
“Do you know how hard it is to get these days? Later, you can take it to school. Give some to anyone who says you’re the best or praises you.
“But for that Melvin and the others who pick on you? Don’t give them a single bite. Let them watch and drool. We’ll show them what happens when they mess with Samuel!”
Hearing this, Samuel’s spirits lifted instantly. “Yeah! Let’s go right now, Auntie Isabella! We have to get it! I want Melvin to know what happens!”
With that, Samuel completely forgot about why the homework answers were what they were. He quickly packed his things and urged Isabella to leave.
In Samuel’s young mind, only Isabella’s kind of unconditional, take–no–prisoners support was real “backing up.” Before, when he had conflicts with other kids, Eliana always asked for the whole story first.
She talked about who was right and who was wrong. Sometimes, if she thought it was his fault, she’d even make him apologize.
At first, he went along with it, even if he didn’t like it. But after Isabella said that Eliana was just afraid of causing trouble, too timid to stand up for him, Samuel started to dislike Eliana more and more.
He even began to think he got picked on because he had such a cowardly mom. So when Isabella said, “Don’t be afraid, I will always have your back no matter what,” Samuel liked her even more.
Now, hearing that Isabella would buy him the trendy snack to teach his unsupportive classmates a lesson, he was thrilled. He was glad Eliana wasn’t back, so he could turn to Isabella whenever he needed backup.
And Isabella was indeed skilled at winning a child’s affection in this way. She marched into the candy shop and addressed the owner directly. “Close up for today. However, many sticks of cotton candy you have left, I’ll take them all.”
Even though buying out the entire shop wouldn’t cost much, in the eyes of a five–year–old like Samuel, her action seemed incredibly powerful and impressive.
When the shop owner handed over a giant bundle containing all the cotton candy, Samuel’s eyes shone with delight.

Just thinking about Melvin not getting any, watching him drool with envy, filled Samuel with an indescribable happiness. Stepping out of the shop, he exclaimed loudly, “Isabella, you’re the best! I like you so much!”
Hearing this, Isabella slowly crouched down to his eye level, her expression serious. “Samuel, do you really think I am good? So good that you’d really want me to be your mommy?”
Samuel nodded immediately. If Auntie Isabella became his mom, he’d never be afraid of being bullied again. She would always stand up for him.
“Then, can you tell Daddy how you feel? Just say you want a mommy like Isabella, that you can’t sleep at night. But you absolutely cannot tell Daddy that I taught you to say this. Otherwise, I won’t be able to become your mommy, okay?” Looking at the huge bundle of cotton candy in his hands, Samuel nodded earnestly. “Don’t worry, Isabella. I’ll do it.”
A look of pure delight spread across Isabella’s face. “Good. I knew my Samuel was the best.” After that, she finally took Samuel to school.
At the preschool, Isabella went to the teacher’s office to hand in Samuel’s “completed” homework, while Samuel went ahead to the classroom, arms laden with cotton candy.
The moment he walked in carrying that giant bundle, his classmates instantly swarmed around him. They were, after all, just kids, and none could resist the allure of snacks, especially the current ones.
Even Melvin and his friends crowded over, hoping for a piece. But the moment Melvin reached out, Samuel shoved him away. “Melvin! Who said you could have any?”
“You were just making fun of me yesterday, saying I didn’t deserve first place! Now you want my cotton candy? How dare you. Everyone else gets some, but not any of you! Just watch. We’ll make you drool.”
After saying this, Samuel looked at the other kids around him. “You guys hold them back. I’ll give each of you an extra one later.”
Hearing this, those children immediately surrounded Melvin and the others, pushing them to the ground to keep them away. Pushed down, Melvin started wailing.
Meanwhile, in the office, oblivious to the chaos in the classroom, Isabella looked at the teacher with a triumphant smile. “So? This time Samuel’s work is all correct, right?”
It was just the past few days when I was too busy to tutor him. But you can’t blame the child so harshly for that.” She said. Ms. Todd, do you know Samuel cried when he got home? This kind of pressure will make a child hate school.”
As she spoke, seeing the teacher’s troubled expression, Isabella thought she had successfully intimidated her and grew even nore pleased with herself.
Looking in at Isabella the teacher hesitated, “You’re right Ms Hewitt We will improve” Since Isabella wasn’t Samuel’s
