Chapter 30
Kane’s POV
27 L
With Dolly and Kim finally out of sight, I couldn’t shake the feeling of frustration and anger for what had happened. Their intrusion had disrupted the trial period, and I needed to address the situation with Tessa and Erin immediately.
I walked back into the house, my mind racing with thoughts of how to explain the chaotic scene they had just witnessed as I made my way upstairs to where I’m assuming I would find Tessa in her
room.
M
As I made my way to the door, the atmosphere in the house felt tense and I couldn’t shake the fact that the past week had been the most hectic to date in a long time…
I pause, before deciding to knock first in an attempt to offer them some more privacy, before being met with straight cold silence.
I make a move to try the handle next, my temper boiling to find the door locked – which was my
growing pet peeve since having Tessa around.
One of these days I’ll just need to use my wolf to break down the damn door to prove that she can’t
just fucking lock me out – but today wasn’t that day. I have to be patient…
“Open this door Tessa! I can explain it all!” I demand, feeling foolish for having to call to her
through the wood of the door.
“They are gone now… now unlock the door and let me in!” I demand a little harsher than intended, before being met with yet another response.
This was borderline pushing my temper…
“OPEN IT OR ILL FUCKING BREAK IN!” I command, before movement is suddenly heard from the inside – causing me to take a step back as I wait.
A click sounds to signify that she had complied with my demand, as I waste no time on letting myself in to the room. Erin is the one to have unlocked it for me it seems, as I spot Tessa sitting on the edge of the bed, a mix of confusion and concern held deep in her eyes.

Chapter 30
Erin was pacing from foot to foot nervously, glancing between Tessa and me, awaiting my next move,
Tessa, Erin, we need to talk, I begin, my tone firm et trying to control the anger bubbling within. “I understand this situation was unexpected, and I want to clarify a few things. I state, clearing my throat.
Tessa looked up at me, her eyes searching for answers. “W–What was that all about, Kane? Who w- were those women, and why did they act like they owned the place?” Her voice holds hurt, which I can understand, however it angers me to look at the damage the pair had caused for me…
I sigh, running a hand through my hair. “Those women, Dolly and Kim, have a history here. They used to hang around here as part of a larger group when we were much younger, but things changed. She shouldn’t even still have a key to the place and asked for it back before they left! I don’t condone their behavior or their intrusion and it won’t happen again you have my word.” I state firmly, hoping that Tessa would believe me.
Tessa’s expression remained guarded, and I could sense the disappointment in her eyes. “Is this the
kind of life I should expect h–here? Uninvited g–guests and romances?” Tessa’s voice grows quieter
towards the end, showing where her true feelings lie
She thinks I’m just in this to use her…
“No, Tessa, it’s not. This is the first time in months that I’ve seen either of them around here, and
like I said, I’ll make sure that it doesn’t happen again!” I assured her, my gaze sincere. “I need you to understand that their actions don’t represent me or how things are around here. From what I’ve gathered, they caught wind that I brought a female back for the trial period and wanted to be nosy!”
I grumble, as Erin remains quiet from beside us.
The intrusion from the two hags had only helped to cast a glum shadow over the trial period, and now, it was crucial to salvage the situation and reassure her that this wasn’t the norm around this
home.
I’m not a male with multiple partners… women coming and going like a conveyer belt… that wasn’t me yet those two showing up had quite evidently made it look that way!
“Tessa, Erin, I know that today was far from what you both expected. This is not a typical day here.” I asserted, my gaze unwavering. “These women are not a representation of our community or our values to say the least either.”

Tessa’s eyes met mine, searching for sincerity. “Kan In–need to understand. How do incidents like this j–just happen? They must have felt welcome enough t–to just turn up like they did.” She argues, however her tone remains gentle as 1 pinch my nose between my fingers in frustration.
address that immediately after I am done
“Our security should have been more vigilant, and speaking with you both and they have been warned not to turn up here again.” I state, meaning each word.
Tessa looked conflicted, a mix of disappointment and uncertainty masked across her features. “I want to believe you, K–Kane. But this… it’s a lot t–to process for me… especially after what we shared t–together yesterday…” The fact that her mind had jumped to being most vulnerable tore me up in ways I hadn’t prepared for.
She thinks that yesterday wasn’t at all special… a moment shared between just us… she thinks now that I just act that way with most females I meet.
Taking a step closer, I reached for her hand. “Tessa, you have my word. I’ll do everything in my power to make sure your trial period continues smoothly. Yesterday was far from a mistake too… trust me!” I state, as Erin clears her throat a tad to remind us of her presence.
“If you go downstairs, Seth will meet you there… give us a minute.” I turn to ask Erin who nods and seems thankful to get out of the room for a moment.
Tessa’s eyes searched mine as they held vulnerability, and I could sense the turmoil storming from
within her. “Kane, I need time to process everything. I think it’s m–maybe just becoming a little
overwhelming, a–and I don’t want to get upset about it.” She admits, as I sigh.
“I get it… take the time you need tonight, Tessa. Your feelings and concerns are valid with this, and
I’m here to address them when you want to talk. As an Alpha, I don’t typically enjoy apologising to anyone but for today, and for how it has made you feel after what we done together yesterday – I am truly sorry for how things have unfolded. My priority is to ensure that you feel secure and respected before we progress on to a serious partnership,” I expressed, my sincerity laid out bare for her to see.
She nodded, the tension in her shoulders easing ever so slightly. “It’s just that… I… find myself really starting to 1–like being around you K–Kane… and I wanted for this trial to go really good for us b–both because of that…” She admits, as her head drops forward as she opens up.
“Now… I’m worried there’s already other f–females caught in the m–mix and I don’t want to c-

compete!” She adds in, as I sigh heavily my heart hurting at hearing her words.
“There’s nobody else… you have my word…” I squeeze her hands in mine, forcing her to look me
dead in the eye as I speak to see my honesty.
“Just… p–please make sure that it doesn’t happen again. I need to know that this is a place where I
can trust our partnership… especially if w–we are working towards being I–intimate and stuff…”
Tessa’s cheeks blush at the mention, but I nod and nore it understanding that this was all
completely new to her too.
“I promise, angel. I’ll do everything in my power to make sure you feel valued because I want this to work,” I vow, determined to rebuild the trust that had momentarily faltered in the short time we
have spent together.
Our conversation lingered in the air, the unspoken understanding that actions would speak louder
than words moving forward… rightfully so!
