My Human
Chapter 31
Tessa’s POV

As Erin tried to comfort me, I couldn’t shake the turmoil within. The encounter with Dolly and Kim had disrupted the fragile peace I’d started to find with Kane. It felt like a betrayal, not just from those intruders but from the universe itself.
“I thought things were finally falling into place,” I admitted, frustration lacing my voice. “Why does it have to be so complicated?”
Erin placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. “Tessa, don’t let those two dictate the course of your trial period. Kane cares about you; I could see it in his eyes when he confronted them.” 2
“But what if this changes everything? What if he thinks I brought trouble into his home?” My mind raced with scenarios, each more catastrophic than the last.
Erin sighed, her expression sympathetic. “We can’t control the actions of others, but we can control how we respond. Let Kane handle those two troublemakers, and we focus on your connection with him.”
It made sense, but the uncertainty gnawed at me. “What if he thinks I’m not worth the trouble? I’ve
already caused so much commotion.”
Erin shook her head. “Tessa, you’re worth it. I’ve seen the way he looks at you, the way he cares. This
is just a bump in the road. We’ll get through it.”
I appreciated Erin’s optimism, but the fear of losing what I’d found with Kane lingered. “I just want
things to go back to how they were before this mess.
“Give it time. Kane is protective, and he won’t let this incident define your trial period,” Erin reassured me, her words a lifeline in the uncertainty that surrounded us.
As we sat in my room, waiting for the storm outside to pass, I couldn’t help but wonder if this trial period would withstand the unexpected challenges or crumble under the weight of external forces. Only time would reveal the true strength of the bond between an Alpha and his human, amidst the chaos that threatened to unravel it all.

After what felt like an eternity, Erin and I heard the front door open, signaling the return of Kane, Seth, and Anthony. The air in the house remained thick with tension as we awaited their presence.
When they entered the room, Kane’s eyes sought mine, but I couldn’t meet his gaze.
“You’ve got company waiting out back,” Erin spoke, her tone intentionally neutral. We moved past
them without a second glance, heading upstairs to distance ourselves from the unwanted intrusion.
Upstairs, Erin outlined her plan to subtly convey our disapproval without causing a direct
confrontation. I nodded, willing to try anything to restore the balance that had been disrupted by
Dolly and Kim.
As we waited in my room, uncertainty hung in the air. Erin and I exchanged glances, silently acknowledging the challenges that lay ahead. The sound of footsteps approached, and Kane’s voice
cut through the silence.
“We’ll deal with this intrusion later. Right now, I need to talk to Tessa–alone.”
His request hung in the air, leaving me torn between the desire to understand and the fear of what might be said. As Erin gave me an encouraging nod, I followed Kane to a more private space, where the weight of unspoken words lingered.
Kane closed the door behind us, and for a moment, silence enveloped the room. I couldn’t bring myself to look directly at him, unsure of what I might find in his eyes.
“Tessa,” he began, his voice carrying a mixture of frustration and concern. “I want you to know that what happened out there was not your fault. Those two had no right to disrupt your trial period like
that.”
I finally met his gaze, searching for sincerity in his eyes. “Why were they here, Kane? And why did it seem like they knew about our trial period?”
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Dolly and Kim are… complicated. They’ve been around before, causing trouble. I thought they were out of the picture. I had no idea they’d show up today.”
His frustration seemed genuine, but doubts lingered. “Why did they say those things about the trial period? Do they know something we don’t?”

Kane hesitated, choosing his words carefully. Dolly and Kim are aware of the significance of the trial period. They’ve always tried to create chaos. I should have handled this better, and I apologize
for any distress they’ve caused you.”
I nodded, a mix of emotions swirling within me. “What do we do now?”
Kane stepped closer, his expression earnest. “We deal with them, make sure they never interfere
again. And we continue with our trial period, undeterred by their antics. Tessa, I care about you, and
I won’t let anyone jeopardize what we have.”
His words were a reassurance, but the challenges ahead loomed large. As we faced the aftermath of the intrusion, I couldn’t help but wonder if this trial period would become a testament to resilience
or an unfortunate chapter in our story.
Tessa’s POV
Kane’s sincerity was apparent in his eyes, and a part of me wanted to believe that he genuinely cared about protecting our trial period. Yet, doubts lingered, fueled by the unsettling encounter with Dolly
and Kim.
“I just don’t understand, Kane. Why would they target us, and how do they know about the trial period?” I voiced my concerns, searching for clarity in his response.
He sighed, frustration evident in his features. “Dolly and Kim have always sought chaos. They know the trial period is a vulnerable time, and they exploit that knowledge. I thought I had dealt with
them, but clearly, I was wrong.”
His admission didn’t erase the unease within me. “How can we trust that they won’t come back? What if they decide to disrupt things again?”
Kane’s jaw clenched, his determination shining through. “I’ll take care of it. I’ll ensure they face consequences for their actions. No one will jeopardize what we’re building here, Tessa. I promise you
that.”
I nodded, a mix of emotions swirling within me. The turmoil caused by Dolly and Kim had shaken the foundation of our trial period, leaving me unsure of what to expect next.
“I want to trust you, Kane. I really do,” I admitted, my vulnerability surfacing. “But this… it makes me question everything. How can we move forward without constant threats?”

Kane approached, his eyes softening with understanding. Tessa, I know I haven’t been perfect, and I regret not being more transparent about my past. But I’m committed to you, and I won’t let anyone or anything come between us.”
His words resonated, and a flicker of hope ignited within me. “We need to address this together, Kane. If we’re going to move forward, we need honesty and openness. No more secrets.”
He nodded, sincerity in his gaze. “You’re right. From now on, we face things together. I’ll keep you informed, and we’ll navigate this trial period as a team.”
As we stood there, facing the “ertainties that lay ahead, a tentative sense of unity emerged. The
challenges had intensified, but perhaps it was in overcoming them that the true strength of our connection would be revealed.
Tessa’s POV
I couldn’t believe the audacity of those two women, Dolly and Kim, invading our space like that. My heart raced with a mixture of embarrassment, anger, and confusion. The image of them flaunting themselves in the pool was burned into my mind, and I couldn’t shake the feeling of betrayal.
As Kane led me away from the commotion, his grip firm yet comforting, I couldn’t bring myself to
meet his eyes. What could he possibly say to justify their presence here? The trust I had started to
build with him now felt fragile, hanging by a thread.
We entered the living room, and Kane closed the door behind us. The tension in the air was
suffocating, and I finally mustered the courage to speak. “Kane, who are they, and why were they
here?”
He sighed, running a hand through his hair, a gesture that betrayed his frustration. “Dolly and Kim… they are from my past, troublemakers who can’t seem to stay away. I asked for a key back from Dolly months ago, but she clearly thought it was amusing to drop by uninvited.”
I looked up at him, searching for sincerity in his eyes. “Why did they say something about a trial
period? What did they mean?”
Kane’s expression tightened, and he paced a few steps before facing me. “Tessa, I didn’t invite them. They’re disrespectful, and their actions don’t represent my intentions with you. The trial period is about us, about giving you a chance to see if this life is something you want.”

I bit my lip, trying to process everything. “But why would they target me like this? And why did they talk about a trial period like it’s some kind of joke?
Kane sighed again, his frustration palpable. “Dolly and Kim are relentless. They thrive on chaos. They must have heard about you being here and saw it as an opportunity to cause trouble. I’m sorry you had to witness that.”
My emotions were a whirlwind, and I couldn’t hold back the tears that welled up. “I thought this was supposed to be different, Kane. I thought you were different.”
He took a step closer, reaching out to gently wipe away a tear. “Tessa, they don’t define us. I’m here for you, and I want to make this right. Please, give me a chance to explain and prove that you mean more to me than any chaos they can create.”
I met his gaze, searching for sincerity, and nodded. “Explain, Kane. Explain everything.”
Tessa’s POV
Kane took a deep breath, as if preparing himself to reveal the intricacies of a complicated past.
“Dolly and Kim… they are wolves from another pack I used to belong to. Back then, things were
different, and relationships between wolves and humans were not as strictly regulated. Dolly and I,
well, we had a history.” 2
My eyebrows furrowed with confusion. “A history? What does that mean?”
He looked down for a moment, collecting his thoughts. “We were close, but it was never about genuine feelings. It was reckless and impulsive. As time passed, I distanced myself from that lifestyle, from them. When I met you, everything changed. I want something real, something
different from what I had in the past.”
“But they showed up here, in our home, like it meant nothing,” I said, my voice a mixture of
frustration and hurt.
Kane nodded, remorse in his eyes. “I should have handled it better. I didn’t expect them to stoop so low. Their idea of a trial period is twisted. They think it’s a game, but for me, it’s about giving you a choice, a chance to see if you want this life. I never intended for them to disrupt that.”
I sighed, feeling a torrent of emotions. “Kane, I want to trust you, but it’s hard when things like this happen. I need to know that I’m not just a part of some game.”

He cupped my face gently, his thumb wiping away other tear. “Tessa, you’re not a game. You’re
real, and what we have is real. I’ll do everything to make it right, to prove that you’re not just some
pawn in their chaotic schemes.”
I took a shaky breath, trying to process everything. What do we do now?”
Kane’s eyes softened, a hint of determination in his gaze. “First, I’ll make sure they never set foot near us again. Then, I’ll show you, through actions, that my intentions are genuine. You mean more
to me than anything from my past.”
I nodded, a small spark of hope flickering within me. “I want to believe you, Kane. But actions will
speak louder than words.”
He nodded in agreement. “I understand. I’ll earn your trust, Tessa, no matter what it takes.”
but wonder if our connection was strong enough to weather As Kane held me close, I couldn’t help the storm that Dolly and Kim had unleashed upon us. Only time would tell if the sincerity in Kane’s eyes would manifest in the actions he promised.

This chapter was very confusing, needs to be re written. They change rooms, repeat themselves and contradict the story.
