The girls follow me downstairs, as I guide them towards the living room as they both remain silent and cast glances back and forth to one another in curiosity.
We still weren’t on the best of terms (myself and Tessa) however I had apologised as best I could for what had happened with the unwanted females turning up… and all I could do now was ensure that it doesn’t happen again!
“Apologies for the suddenness of this meeting since we were expecting them both to arrive much later today! This is my good friend and cousin Talon and his human mate Arianna.” I step aside,
allowing for Tessa and Erin to get a better view of the couple as they both sat comfortably seated in
armchairs. 3
I watched Tessa’s eyes roam between the pair, probably taking note of their matching icy blonde hair
and much paler skin – a complexion that was supported by the darker clothing choices which they
both adorned.
“You look even paler since the last time I had saw you!” I chuckle, as Talons eyes glimmer with
amusement.
“The perks of living in the North eh!” Talon states, as I nod in agreement and watch him rise to
greet the girls.
“Pleasure to meet you both… uh…” Talon trails off, placing his hand out to Tessa first who carefully shakes it in return and forces a nervous smile.
“T–Tessa.” She greets, before Talon nods and moves his hand towards Erin next who also greets him
and introduces herself.
“Have a seat!” I motion to the numerous empty chairs in the room as Tessa and Erin both shuffle to sit in them whilst Arianna follows them with her eyes – not bothering to stand or to greet them as of
just yet.
I didn’t think into it much, considering that I had grown up with Talon spending his summer holidays here at our pack, with our families coming together regularly for important holidays, and

with that I had now also known Arianna for the six years that they had been mated for
“I seriously didn’t expect to see you both when I opened up the front door! To what do we owe this great pleasure?!” Anthony enters the room and claps his hands at the sight of them both, whilst Seth comes in behind him with a tray of drinks.
I lean back to get more comfortable in my seat, and watch for the first time since coming in here as Arianna rushes to stand and hug them both excitedly.
“Oh you know? Heard that the old cousin was out on the dating scene for the first time and had to
come down to see if it was true for myself!” Talon jokes, throwing me a wink as I roll my eyes at his
sense of humour.
“Could have at least let me finish the trial first before rushing down here!” I state, as he shakes his
head and again glances towards Tessa and Erin from beside me.
“Nah there’s no need to wait if I want to make sure you’re picking the right one!” Talon grins, as we
laugh off the joke and we all get more comfortable.
Seth hands out some drinks, as Tessa and Erin remain quiet – unsure of how to act since they were meeting the couple for the first time which understandably could be daunting.
“So what one’s the potential mate and new luna then?” Arianna speaks up, her tone just as clipped
as it usually is.
She really means no harm but I could see how she could be an intimidating female to say the least – especially in the presence of Tessa and Erin who were like mouses compared to her.
“Tessa is currently nearing the end of a trial with me and Erin here is hopefully beginning a trial with Seth over the next couple of weeks.” I explain, pointing to each of them as Arianna nods and stares holes through the girls curiously.
Just as a short silence falls across the room, providing a short awkward pause which usually happens when people meet for the first time, Seth suddenly cackles and shakes his head.
“Talon you sneaky fucker! I know why you’ve came down to our pack so randomly! The Lunar festival is in two days – I just realised the date!” Seth states smugly, as Talon and Arianna both now laugh – holding their hands up in surrender.

“Caught us there!” Talon states with amusement lacing his words.

“W–What’s that?” I turn in surprise to hear Tessa involving herself into the conversation as everyone
grows quiet to allow her the floor to speak.
“It’s a pretty big celebration for wolves and it has fun shit like a carnival, music, games, races and alcohol and it runs every year just outside of this pack.” I explain briefly, as her mouth drops down
to form an ‘O‘ shape.
I didn’t actually think much on going this year considering I had put a lot of my focus on taking part in the judgment days – having actually decided to pursue a trial with Tessa around the same date
that the festival runs.
“Isn’t that the day before we go back?” Erin involves herself, as I glance to Seth and Anthony who pause to work out the numbers before nodding in agreement.
“That doesn’t mean you can’t still go right? Don’t let us down Kane!” Talon complains loudly, as I chuckle and shake my head at his eagerness to party

He did usually turn up around this time of year to attend the festival – being able to see more of his friends that he knew from our childhood.
“I’m sure they would both like to go too, no?” Arianna raises a brow in curiosity, as I shrug and turn to glance at Tessa to gauge a reaction.
“O–Oh… I uh… I don’t mind? I’ll go if you w–want me to Kane?” She mumbles, not overly bothered on the idea as Arianna sniggers.

“It seems you’ve got a submissive one already Kane! Arianna jokes, as I glare slightly unsure of how Tessa would take the taunting.
“Oh come on! Don’t look at me like that! That’s a good thing for you! She will do whatever you say!” Arianna chuckles, tilting her head to the left in amusement as Talon smiles at her words too.
With that, I turn more to face Tessa, seeing her chewing her lip anxiously as I fight to ignore it – desperately wanting to pull her lip free from her teeth.

“Would you want to go? The choice is yours?” I state firmly, giving her a place in the matter, as she furrows her brows and turns to look back at Erin.

Her eyes search the room as everyone falls silent, as longer before diverting back to find my own.

watch her eyes hover on Arianna for a moment
“S–Sounds fun!” She nods, licking her lips quickly, as I nod once and turn away from her.
That’s it decided then… we will attend the largest festival of the year before we have to report back to the centre with them both the next day.
They can bond more with Talon and Arianna in the meantime too if Tessa is set to become my new mate – I’ll have to show her off publicly anyway, right?

I’m going to agree with some of last chapter statement this does seem like a very different book now maybe it’s two different authors?
