Sophia is nothing as I remember. There’s a coldness in her eyes that I’ve never seen before. If it hasn’t already, this is breaking her. Being this close to her again is different. There’s something about her that calls to me. No matter what I’ve done since coming back, I find myself gravitating towards her.
Her scent is calming me. It’s subtle, as if she were trying to mask it along with her presence. Yet, its fragrance is enough to bring me to my knees. Not just anyone can reach for me when I losing control. I’ve been able to keep the beast in me from going feral, but lately it’s been a chore, and she settled it with a simple touch.
The sensation that rippled through my body at the contact of our skin cleared my head enough for me to be able to reel it back without any trouble. I don’t know what to do about the situation I find myself in. My body is screaming for her, but she’s vulnerable. I can’t simply reach out to take what I want the way I would normally.
Sophia didn’t just lose her mate; he replaced her and wanted to force her into submission. A standard omega would have obliged. Even an omega of my kind would have been fine with the arrangement he tried to set up for her. She wouldn’t lack anything for the rest of her life.
There’s pride in her demeanor. The way she carries herself is not that of an omega. She was preparing to take on anything by his side, and it shows in the way she’s giving everything importance except the shame of what was done to her. What’s eating me up is that she’s blaming herself. That’s one thing that hasn’t changed much. The world could be against her, and she’d think it was deserved. I don’t know how to comfort her or even where to begin.

I turn enough to take in Sophia’s outfit. Her black skirt is mid–thigh, but she’s wearing dark tights under it. She has a red top underneath. It’s fitted to her body, covering all the way up to her neck. On top, she’s got a black coat. Her makeup is light. Her soft jade eyes look almost cat–like. Her long, dark hair is pulled up. I don’t know what it’s secured with. I can’t see anything holding it up.
She looks nothing like the women walking outside. She dresses lot like Zaraphine–elegant and poised. Holds her head high like her as well. The Major General’s influence is probably what saved her from the fate she was granted.
Sophia turns her body to face me. I give her my attention as she tries to piece together what she’s about to say. The girl knew would never hold her tongue, so watching her try to put something respectful together because of my status is strangely adorable.
“May I ask a favor?” she finally asks.
“This is the favor,” I remind her teasingly, but I can see that she takes it seriously when she tries to avert her gaze.
“I am aware,” she says before I can tell her I’m joking. “I just want to request you don’t take your anger out on the school’s staff. It’s not their fault. They’re just following orders. If the data has been deleted, it’s not a big issue Just let it go.”
“You don’t have to downplay how upset this is going to make you with me.
I’m not one to make a scene. Kicking and screaming has never gotten me anywhere. If anything, it’s gotten me punished. that last part is whispered and not intended for me to hran
A part of me bristles with the idea of someone putting their hangs on her without her consent. I know she implied it when she told me the reason why she wanted to terminate her pregnancy. I can’t help but feel a bit guilty about encouraging her to go through with it. My reasons had nothing to do with the cle’s well–being

I step out of the car and go around to open her door. She looks up at me with that same blank expression, and and that it bothers me more than it should
“Ready?” I ask.
“As Ill ever be,” she nods. I signal for two guards to follow us in and the rest to stay behind.
She leads us to one of the main buildings, and it doesn’t go unnoticed by the other students. Some of them immediately pull out their phones and start snapping pictures of us. I step closer to her and even open the door to let her in She keeps her head down, not meeting anyone’s eyes.
She signs into a sheet and motions for me to sit down. She takes seat, and I sit beside her. When someone comes out, they see her sitting here and then look over at me with wide eyes. Without a word, she rushes into one of the rooms and emerges with the alpha, I am guessing, who is the Dean.
“Miss Helvig,” he greets her, and glances at me. “How can I help you today?”
“You know exactly what she’s doing here, I growl. He stiffens, but he keeps his attention on her.
“I just want to know if you actually did what you promised you would,” she says calmly.
He pales, and he has trouble keeping his gaze off either of us. He did it. He deleted all of her progress under the alphas orders. His silence speaks more than anything he could come up with as an excuse.

“Lady Helvig,” I correct him, stepping forward.
“Ragnar,” Sophia places her hand on my arm. She takes my hand and stands in front of me, putting herself between the two of us With that single word, all I can do is give her the room she peeds. “What you did was illegal, Donovan.
