Isabella said quietly as she kept crouched down, picking up the candy one by one, never once looking up at Logan.
After she’d gathered every last piece, she slowly stood, still not facing him. “I’m sorry, Logan. I really am. I didn’t know I was the cause of what happened to Samuel.
“Maybe I’m not good with kids, maybe I’m just a bit clueless, but promise, I never wanted to hurt him. It won’t happen again.” With that, Isabella quickly walked out of the room.
Hearing her voice break, and remembering how she was awkwardly picking up the candy on the floor earlier, Logan couldn’t help but feel uneasy.
He almost called out to stop her, but in the end, he held back. There were too many things on his mind right now, and he just didn’t have the energy to deal with other people’s emotions.
As Isabella walked out of the hospital, she couldn’t help but feel even more frustrated. Logan hadn’t even bothered to come after her, not even a single call.
Thinking about how Logan treated her earlier, Isabella was seriously upset. She couldn’t understand why Logan seemed like a completely different person now, even snapping at Hannah because of Eliana.
After thinking it over, Isabella finally decided the problem must be Eliana’s pregnancy.
Logan was probably indulging Eliana just because she was pregnant, even beginning to defend her.
As long as that baby is in Eliana’s belly, Logan would never turn her away from the Eliot family, no matter what.
‘No way. I can’t let that kid ever see the light of day, Isabella told herself, determination burning in her chest.
With that in mind, Isabella jumped into a cab and headed straight for the Lyons Group, planning to follow Eliana and look for a chance to hurt her so she would lose the baby.
After tailing Eliana for several days, Isabella finally saw her heading out on a business trip. Isabella knew this was her chance. Without hesitation, she followed Eliana right away.
Eliana was so focused on business that she didn’t even notice a car following her the entire time.
When she finally reached her destination, Eliana waited by the curb for the person she was meeting. Just as she was waiting, a car came speeding straight toward her.
With her back to the road, Eliana heard the sound of the car and instinctively tried to dodge, but before she could react, someone grabbed her and shoved her forward, narrowly avoiding the car.
The car, seeing it hadn’t hit anyone, didn’t dare stick around, just slammed the gas and sped off.
“Thank you. If it weren’t for you just now…” Eliana said as she got to her feet, still a bit shaken.
But when she looked up and saw Nathan standing there, she froze, her words stuck in her throat.
Nathan smirked at her expression. “What’s the matter? Do you only thank some people when they save your life, Ms. Lyons?”
Eliana snapped out of it. “Of course not. I really appreciate you saving me just now, Mr. Turner. It’s just such a coincidence. What brings you here?”
“Just here for a business meeting,” Nathan replied offhand, but his tone grew more serious. “How come people are still after you, even here? Looks like you’ve made a lot of enemies while I was away.”

Eliana knew he was just messing with her, but since he’d just saved her, she let it slide.
When Eliana didn’t say anything, Nathan actually started to worry. “Are you hurt anywhere?”

When he’d thrown himself forward to shield her, Nathan had made sure to protect her neck and other vulnerable spots. But with a fall that sudden, it was almost impossible not to get hurt.
Hearing Nathan’s question, Eliana finally snapped back to reality “I’m fine. What about you?”
Nathan subtly moved his right hand behind his back. “I’m fine too.”
His tone grew serious. “Got any idea who might be after you? That car was definitely coming straight for you.”
“I really don’t know. I shouldn’t have any enemies here, and with everything happening so fast, I didn’t get a good look at the driver. Better to let the police handle it,” Eliana said.
Nathan nodded and stayed with her as she called the cops and gave her statement.
When they stepped out of the police station, Nathan noticed Eliana’s pale face. He suddenly remembered that she was pregnant, and he felt a wave of worry. He instinctively grabbed her wrist.
“You should really get checked at the hospital. That fall was serious, and with your condition, you can’t afford to take chances,” he said.
Though deep down, Nathan secretly hoped she’d lose the baby, her safety came first, and that was all that mattered to him right now.
However, as he moved, Eliana noticed the scrape on his arm. When he threw himself forward, he used that arm to protect her, so his sleeve was torn up.
Her eyes showed a flash of concern as she grabbed his arm. “Why didn’t you say anything about your injury?”
As she spoke, Eliana tried to gently pull up his sleeve to see how bad it was. But the moment she moved, she realized his skin was practically glued to the torn fabric.
Nathan was still putting on a brave face, but Eliana could see he was really hurt. Just one glance and her eyes went red.
She didn’t hesitate to call for a car and rush him to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Isabella was fuming. Her plan to hit Eliana had failed, and she was seriously annoyed.
But just now, in her rearview mirror, she’d seen Eliana go tumbling to the ground. Seeing Eliana fall so hard, Isabella wondered if the baby would even survive.
She still wanted to check on Eliana’s condition, so she decided to review the footage from her dashcam. It wasn’t until then that she realized the person who saved Eliana was Nathan.
‘Seriously? Did they actually plan to meet up here for a date or something? Who cares if it’s real or not? If I say it happened, then it happened,’ Isabella wondered, a sly grin creeping onto her face.
Without wasting a second, she copied the video and anonymously sent it off to Logan and Aurora.
Isabella was riding high on her success. She returned the car to the rental company and prepared to leave.
But soon, she got a call from the rental company. “Ms. Hewitt, did you almost hit someone while driving?
“The police have been notified, and they traced the car back to you. You need to come back and cooperate with the investigation.”
