Chapter 68
As soon as Aurora said that, Isabella’s face went pale in an instant. She really couldn’t believe Aurora could be so dumb. Sh actually took that video straight to Eliana, got herself reported, and ended up in jail.
Now that Aurora had handed over the email account to the police, it was only a matter of time before they traced it back t Isabella.
Isabella had already paid off the rental car company to keep things quiet, but if the cops traced it back to her, Eliana wouldn’t let her off the hook so easily.
There was no such thing as a secret that stayed hidden forever. If Eliana started suspecting something and kept digging, sooner or later, Isabella would be exposed.
Just thinking about all this made Isabella feel even more restless and on edge. She’d only wanted Aurora to cause a little chaos for Eliana, but now Aurora had turned out to be completely useless.
Every time Isabella saw her before, Aurora always acted like she was untouchable, but now it was clear she was all bark and no bite.
Right now, Isabella was genuinely worried and afraid. Her mind was a mess, and she just couldn’t pull herself together. Hannah, heart aching for her daughter, was furious when she heard Aurora had not only been investigated but even dragge down to the police station. She started cursing Eliana out.
After she finished tearing into Eliana, Hannah turned her wrath on whoever had sent that email to Aurora.
“You silly girl. Someone sends you a video and you just run out to stir up trouble with it? What if this was all part of their scheme, just to make you take the fall?
“Let’s see what the police dig up. I’d really love to find out who’s so scheming. Once we know who it is, I’ll make her regret ever messing with us,” Hannah snapped.
Isabella stood off to the side, her expression growing more and more sour as she listened.
Isabella couldn’t understand what was going on with those two. She’d sent them the video just trying to do them a favor, didn’t want them to be clueless. Now they screwed up, and it was all on her.
But seeing how fiercely they were going off, Isabella didn’t dare say a word. She just kept quiet on the sidelines.
“Isabella, what’s wrong? Why do you look so upset all of a sudden?” Hannah asked.
It wasn’t until Hannah’s voice snapped her out of it that Isabella finally came back to herself. “Nothing. I was just… just wondering who could be behind all this…”
Caught off guard by Hannah’s question, Isabella didn’t know what to say, so she just blurted out the first thing that came to mind.
“Can you believe how crazy this is? Someone actually tried to set Aurora up like that. Just thinking about it pisses me off,
“I’ve always cherished Aurora, raised her with all my love, and now she has to suffer like this? I swear, I’ll hunt down whoever did this,” Hannah snapped.
The sight of Hannah like this struck Isabella with a bolt of panic. Her mind was spinning, and after thinking it over for a while, she finally said, “I think Ms. Lyons is the real villain here, not the person who sent the email.

“Maybe the person who sent the email just wanted to warn us, but Ms. Lyons is Aurora’s sister–in–law and she didn’t even have Aurora’s back.
“She went straight to the police. That’s just cold. She clearly doesn’t care about Logan at all.”
Hannah nodded, her tone sharp. “Eliana’s been way out of line lately. Just because she’s carrying Logan’s kid, she thinks sh can act all high and mighty.
“When her bump starts showing, let’s see who starts panicking, her or us. It’s not like we’re desperate for her baby. She rea thinks she’s something special.
“If she loves causing trouble so much, she can pack up and leave with her kid. My son’s incredible. He could do so much better than her, easy.”
As Hannah spoke, her gaze settled back on Isabella. “Honestly, Isabella, you’re the one I’ve always wanted for Logan. If Eli keeps this up, then Logan should really go through with the divorce.”
As she spoke, Hannah took Isabella’s hand. “Isabella, I mean it. If that day comes, would you be willing to marry Logan?”
Isabella’s face turned crimson, and she stammered, “Hannah, it’s really hard for me to answer when you ask me like that.
“Logan and Ms. Lyons aren’t even divorced yet. I can’t let myself think about it right now. Otherwise, it’d look like I’m the one trying to break them up.”
Hearing Isabella’s words, Hannah was about to keep pushing, but Aurora nudged her gently.
“Mom, seriously, quit trying to play matchmaker. Isabella and Logan? That ship has sailed.
“Don’t forget, she bailed on Logan when he was at his lowest. And the Hewitt family isn’t what it used to be. Honestly, she’s not even as good as Eliana now.
“Plus, it’s obvious Isabella’s not interested. Just stop trying to push them together. You’re just making things awkward for everyone,” Aurora said.
As she spoke, Aurora glanced up at Isabella. “Isn’t that right, Isabella?”
Isabella’s face was ashen. She had no clue how to respond. She forced a smile, but inside, she was gritting her teeth at Auror
Back before the Hewitt family fell from grace, the two families were tight, and Isabella and Aurora pretty much grew up sid by side.
Isabella was a little older, and back then, Aurora would always tag along. But now Aurora actually had the nerve to put on airs in front of her.
Seeing Isabella’s face fall, Hannah quickly pulled her close. “Isabella, don’t let it get to you. Aurora’s always been blunt like
that.
“I know Logan’s always had a soft spot for you, and I’ve watched you grow up. You’re someone I truly know and trust. If you ever marry into the Eliot family, just come visit me often, and it’ll always make my day.
“Anyway, if Eliana really does divorce Logan, you’ll always be my top pick for a daughter–in–law,” Hannah said.
As Hannah spoke, her tone grew even softer. “I’m planning a small gathering tomorrow, just inviting a few of my close lady friends over. If you have time, would you help me get things ready?”
Truth was, Hannah had just bought a new set of jewelry and was itching to flaunt it in front of her social circle. That was why she was hosting this afternoon coffee.

But when Isabella heard that, she couldn’t help but read between the lines.

Normally, preparing for such an event was a daughter–in–law’s duty. By asking her, Hannah was essentially announcing to everyone that she was the Eliot family’s next daughter–in–law.
With that thought, Isabella’s heart leapt with joy. She quickly replied, “Absolutely, Hannah. You can count on me. I’ll make sure everything’s just right.”
