Chapter 47
Catherine’s POV
“Okay, “I said, “would you mind giving me a push?It would go faster.‘
“Sure! Sam said.He sounded excited, and I could feel the playful Sam returning.
I wonder what his brothers will think seeing him pushing my wheelchair around.
Will they be angry?Upset?Jealous?
I giggled at the idea, and Sam turned the wheelchair around and raced down the path as if it were some racekart he was driving.
I squealed and laughed as he wheeled me down the path with Jimmy hot on our heels.
Jimmy, too, was laughing at our silliness.
“I haven’t seen you this happy in months, Jimmy said when Sam slowed, reaching a bend in the path.“Even mother and father have noticed it!”
That warmed my heart.
“I feel happy, I told him, even though my insides were aching with worry.
“Ready?“Sam asked as he acted as if he were spinning in one place, adding to the suspense.
“Yes!Go!“I yelled out, grabbing the handrest and holding on tight.
Sam pushed forward, and the sound of my squealing echoed around us.I closed my eyes, enjoying the adrenalin rush Sam was giving me.
“Sam!“Colt’s husky voice carried so much authority that Sam stopped in his tracks, and the wheelchair came to an immediate stop, almost sending me flying from the wheelchair.
I was greeted with shiny black shoes when I opened my eyes.Sam stopped the wheelchair inches from Colt.
“Are you right?“Colt asked.
I couldn’t help but burst out laughing at his cold, hard, angry face. He didn’t look impressed that we were playing around like five–year–olds.
“What the hell are you doing?“Grey roared at Sam,pushing past Colt.“Are you trying to kill my mate?”
Colt flinched at his brother’s words, and I swallowed my laughter.
What was Grey’s issue?
He wasn’t my only mate. Why has he changed? He was always the calm and level–headed brother between them.
I have never seen him act like this before. What’s wrong with him?

Chapter 47
“It’s what he saw, ‘Kia mused from the back of my mind. The vision he had.”
“Vision? I asked, confused. “What did he see?”
“I don’t know, she answered. “Ever since you touched him, he has been acting differently.”
“Yeah,like a party pooper!“I said, and I growled annoyed.
Everything about Grey was too perfect, too calculated, and too precise. It was starting to work on my nerves.
“Why don’t you ask him? Kia said that and disappeared from my mind.
“Thanks for the help!‘I yelled after her, knowing that she would still be able to hear me.
“Maybe I should ask him,“I said.
“Ask who what?“Colt asked, moving his gaze from Grey.
Sh’t!Did I just say that out loud?
My gaze slowly moved toward Colt, ignoring his question. He had folded his arms around his chest, and his expression was cold and hard.
Bloody hell!! felt like I did something wrong–as if my mother just caught me red–handed taking the last cookie from the cookie jar.
Yet,as our eyes locked, his one eyebrow twitched.
I slowly shifted my head to the side and knitted my eyebrows.
Even though Colt had crossed his arms, his posture was relaxed, and his eyes were warm.
This was just an act–Colt wasn’t angry or upset;he was just acting as if he were.
I wonder why?
Was he playing the overprotective and jealous mate?
“You were about to ask a question, “Grey said from behind me.He had grabbed Sam around his collar, furious.I had forgotten about him yelling at Sam.
‘Let go of Sam,Grey!‘I ordered with just as much authority as Colt had stopped Sam.
Grey’s gaze snapped toward me;confusion crossed his eyes, and Sam chuckled humorously at his brother.
“The little princess here likes her Daddy more than you think, “Sam taunted Grey as he pushed Grey’s hands off of him.
Grey lost his temper and swung at Sam,but he saw the punch coming and ducked out of the way.
“That’s enough! Colt ordered his brothers to stop.
Grey huffed and took a step away, yet Sam had this cheesy smile plastered on his lips.

“If you are done playing around, I said, giving Grey a disappointing look, ‘I would like to actually reach my destination.
Sam nodded, smiled, and walked toward the wheelchair.
Shall we continue? He asked, looking at Grey.
“Sure, “I said to Sam. ‘Colt,if there is nothing else, would you mind stepping aside?”
Colt looked at me,scrunched his eyebrows together, nodded, and moved out of the way while Sam pushed my wheelchair forward.
Ten minutes later, Sam pushed me into the infirmary. The sickening smell of medicine filled my nostrils.
The doctor discharged me last night after I went for a checkup. He couldn’t find any more swelling in or around my throat.Which was an odd but good
thing I haven’t healed this fast in months.
I sighed, now only purple marks were evidence of that faithful night.
“Everything okay?“Sam asked as we headed to the reception desk.
I nodded and turned my focus toward the nurse standing behind the reception desk.
“Kate, the nurse said when she saw me,” you can go right in;the doctor is waiting for you.”
“Thanks, Silvia,“I said, turning to Sam, and he let go of my chair.
I pushed myself to the infirmary room at the bottom of the hall, where two guards were standing outside guarding the door. The doctor was casually talking to someone inside the room.
“Doctor?“I called, and his gaze moved toward me when he heard my voice.
“Ah,there you are,Kate,” he said,walking toward me.
“Is he alright?” I asked, concerned.
The doctor gave me a soft and kind smile and took my hand in his.
‘Seems so, he said, but I could tell from the way the doctor spoke that there was something wrong and he was keeping it from me.
‘Doc,‘I said, lifting my chin and giving him a stern look.“Seems so isn’t an answer. Now tell me the truth!”
