My Human
Chapter 82
Kane’s POV
M
The wind ran through the metal frame of the watchtower, drowning out everything and providing an extra sheet of cover for us….
The snow lashed down across my face, as sharp as broken glass, but I didn’t flinch.
I didn’t dare to move.
Every instinct inside me screamed to run not away, but toward wherever Dimitri was hiding from us.
Towards the monster who had kept Tessa from me this entire time.
Towards the bloodbath we were about to unleash on them all as punishment for their crimes.
But I held the line…
Kion’s men were slipping in like shadows beyond the perimeter now, cutting through the storm with practiced silence.
The Russian who handled the radio stayed crouched down beside me, watching through the scope of a stolen rifle.
His breath fogged the air in steady bursts. Below us, my other men remained frozen behind crates and half–snowed barrels, waiting for my signal.
It was almost time…
I reached into my coat and pulled out the folded compound blueprint. We’d memorised it a dozen times, but I checked it again anyway.
The building where Purcell had claimed the girls and children were kept – known as Sector Zero
harder for us to access them.
–
was smack bang in the middle of the place, making it
The only way to get to them, was to fight through the entire compound from the outside in…
I didn’t realise how tight I was gripping the paper until it tore slightly beneath my thumb as I quickly shoved it back into my coat.
“You two, stay here with the rifles, shoot any of Dimitris men if you see them down below… I’m going back down to join the raid.” I inform, using my hands to point around as I spoke, helping in what little way I could with the language barrier.
They nodded and assumed position, before I began to climb back down again, eyes scanning my surroundings before the court yard flooded with our men in
mere seconds.
We couldn’t waste time standing around, it would only take seconds for an alarm to be raised…
“MOVE! MOVE! MOVE!” I suddenly yell, shifting in to my wolf form as everyone relayed the orders in a mix of English and Russian courtyard was instantly shattering out in to a war cry.
The doors were coded, but thanks to the rat known as Purcell, we knew how to get past them swiftly…
The first door gave with a hiss and a beep, and then we were inside.

No more open snow. No more wind. Just concrete hallways and the sharp, sterile stink of bleach mixed with something darker
sweat, fear and blood.
The sounds of the storm faded behind us as we moved like a living current down the narrow corridors. My claws clicked against the floor, padded and deliberate. I kept to the front, flanked by Kion’s best fighters a formation that could rip through steel if needed.
The mission was clear.
Find Dimitri.
Find Sector Zero.
Free the females and children.
Kill every last bastard who stands in our way…
We rounded a corner and slammed headfirst into the first resistance. Three guards, clearly caught mid–shift, scrambled to react to our sudden intrusion.
One raised his weapon, but it was too late I was already airborne.
–
I collided with him full force, slamming him into the wall with a crunch that made the others hesitate.
Kion’s second–in–command leapt past me, shifting mid–air and taking the throat out of the nearest attacker. Blood sprayed across the wall in a wide arc.
The last one tried to run.
But I didn’t let him.
By the time he hit the floor, the hallway was silent again.
I shifted back briefly, catching my breath as the rest of the squad secured the area.
“Seth, report,” I snapped through our mind–link, knowing they had taken another entrance inside.
‘We’ve hit heavy resistance near the southern wing. They’re scrambling. I think they’ve realised what’s happening now.‘ He rushed out back to me in seconds.
And right then, on his words, the alarms started to ring loudly throughout the entire place – alerting every guard they had of our intrusion – including
Dimitri himself!
‘Keep pushing through toward the power room. We need those lights out.‘ I state back, before an array of wolves came hurdling around the corner towards
- us.
‘We’re on it!‘ Seth responded, before we cut the link.
Fighting in darkness was one of our best trained specialities, known to take our enemies by surprise, not giving them much time to adapt…
We got to work, attacking each wolf that came towards us, working as a unit to rip them apart piece by piece.
We couldn’t let Dimitri slip out, we had to reach sector Zero before it was too late!
Luckily, the enemy seemed slow to react to our surprise attack, making their movements frantic and sloppy – ultimately landing them in a heap on the floor one by one.

A sudden scream caught my ears.
Childlike.
Muffled.
My stomach twisted, and I snarled under my breath, motioning forward towards a downward staircase taking us down to what I believed and hoped would
be sector Zero according to the map.
I moved down it, heart pounding with adrenaline, reaching a steel door guarded by only three wolves.
I almost laughed at how easy it was. Allowing some of our team to do the honours this time – lunging forward and removing them from our path before they
even had the chance to cause a scratch.
I shifted and stepped over their lifeless bodies to enter the code again-
4-8-1-2-7.
The panel chirped. The door slid open with a slow, metallic groan, revealing a variety of corridors and what seemed to be cell doors.
We fucking made it in!
Sector Zero…
“Alpha! Those two had keys on them, they must unlock the cells.” I turned to find one of my own men lifting up the keys as they jingled.
This could take a while…
“Get to work, free them and start leading them outside! I’m pushing forward for Dimitri! There should be a staircase taking us upwards to his quarters apparently! I announce, as they nod and immediately move towards cell doors – fumbling with keys that were thankfully numbered accordingly.
The air alone reeked of neglect and terror.
I heard the sobs of children as our men ushered them out with their mothers.
One older girl, maybe seventeen, eyes swollen shut, blood crusted at her temple, caught my eye as I passed her caged room.
“Alpha Kane!” I turned to look ahead, finding Kion who had entered from the opposite side with his own team.
“Kion,” I sighed out in relief seeing him there with another one of his Alpha allies. “Let’s find the bastard together! Have your other men help get the women and children out of here!” I instruct, as he nods and barks out orders in Russian.
My throat tightened as the chaotic sounds of fear filled the room.
Dimitri would pay for every last second of this…
