Chapter 1158
Chapter 1158
Ivy read through the divorce agreement carefully herself. There were no issues at all.
She slowly picked up the pen, moved to the signature line at the bottom, and began to sign.
She wrote the first stroke of her name, then suddenly froze. She didn’t know why, but a flicker of reluctance rose inside her.
Ivy had thought she could sign without hesitation, but in that moment, scenes with Nathan replayed vividly in her mind.
His manners. His gentleness. His dominance. The way he had stood up for her.
Every detail played back with unsettling clarity.
A thought flashed through her head.
Had she fallen for Nathan?
That was impossible!
Ivy cut the thought off immediately. She believed a rational woman wouldn’t fall in love. She had sworn long ago that romance would never be part of her life.
She tightened her grip on the pen and signed her name in one swift motion.
Just then, her phone chimed.
Ivy glanced down. It was a message from Wanda.
Wanda had sent over the prenatal appointment details, including the clinic and doctor’s schedule.
Ivy placed a hand over her still flat stomach, and her mood lifted without warning.
No matter how she looked at it, she hadn’t lost out.
Nathan’s near–perfect genetics, combined with the Lowe family bloodline. However you sliced it, that was a winning hand.
Ivy slipped the divorce agreement into her bag and stood up.
“Come with me to the hospital.”
“Sure. Let’s go.”
Ivy took Madge with her to the hospital. There was no way she was calling Nathan.
The fact that he hadn’t tried to interfere with the pregnancy was already more than enough. She didn’t dare expect him to accompany her to a checkup.
Nathan returned to his room, took a cold shower, then changed into a clean shirt and slacks before heading downstairs.

The dining room was empty. Ivy was gone.
“Hi, Mr. Lowe. Mrs. Lowe left for work earlier,” Wanda said.
Nathan sat down and took a sip of milk without saying a word.
Wanda frowned. “I hate to lecture you, but Mrs. Lowe is pregnant. How could you stay out all night yesterday? You weren’t fooling around somewhere, were you?”
Nathan’s expression didn’t change. “I was working late at the office.”
Wanda smiled, clearly relieved. She knew him well enough. “Don’t do anything stupid outside. Mrs. Lowe is pregnant. You need to be more considerate of her.”
Nathan’s lips curved faintly as he asked flatly, “Does she need my consideration?”
He sneered inwardly. To her, what was he, really?
Everything over this past stretch felt fake now. That woman was a complete fraud. Her sweet words, her tenderness, all of it had been nothing more than a way to get his child.
Nathan tightened his grip on the milk glass.
“What kind of thing is that to say? Do you have any idea how hard pregnancy is on a woman?” Wanda snapped.
“No.”
He had never planned on having a child in the first place.
And now, he was suddenly a father, out of nowhere.
“Well, pregnancy comes with morning sickness, sleepless nights, and changes to the body. And when it’s time to give birth, she’ll be risking her life.”
Nathan paused, his lips pressing into a thin line.
“This is your first child,” Wanda went on. “You’re going to be a father!”
He was going to be a father.
This was his first child.
Nathan had been so focused on his anger toward Ivy that he had barely thought about the baby at all.
Only now did it feel real.
He was going to be a dad.
“When you go with Mrs. Lowe for her prenatal checkup later, you need to be patient,” Wanda reminded him. “Checkup?” Nathan looked up. “What checkup?”
