But then he remembered all those times he’d acted the same way toward Eliana. Back then, he just blamed her for not being able to handle Samuel, convinced she was the worst mom ever.
It wasn’t until Samuel gave him that same attitude that Logan finally realized just how good Eliana was as a mom, and how much she’d been holding back all this time.
Logan’s chest tightened with frustration. Unable to hold back, he yanked Samuel back and gave him two more firm smacks.

Samuel was scared now, sniffling and hiccupping, but he still talked back to Logan, stubborn as ever. After a few more swats, he was truly scared and finally choked back his tears.
Once Samuel had really stopped crying, Logan called the doctor in to set up the treatment device again.
The doctor walked into the room, shot Logan a look, clearly wanting to say something, but in the end, he just kept quiet.
Logan’s yelling and the sound of him spanking Samuel had been loud enough for everyone outside to hear.
Hearing Samuel cry like that, the doctor was really afraid something might go seriously wrong with his eyes.
But Samuel was so spoiled and stubborn that none of the adults really knew what to do with him anymore. Thinking about all that, the doctor just bit his tongue and stayed out of it.
After setting up the device for Samuel again, the doctor reminded them of a few things to keep in mind, then quietly slipped out of the room.
Logan looked at Samuel, who’d finally stopped crying but was still hiccupping and sniffling. He couldn’t help but feel bad for
the kid.
His own hand was still stinging from the spanking, if it hurt him this much, Samuel had to be feeling even worse.
But with Samuel throwing such a fit, spanking was the only thing Logan could think of to get through to him.
