Chapter 88
Kane’s POV
1 shifted back slowly.
My claws retracted, fur pulled inward, bones cracked and realigned until I stood there bare, chest heaving, body slick with sweat my hand that wasn’t even mine.
and fresh blind sharing
Dimitri coughed loudly as the pressure of my weight disappeared from his chest. He clutched at the fresh bite on his fallen shoulder and glanced down at the gash left across his chest.
Kion didn’t miss a beat as he stepped forward either…
“Kion,” Dimitri croaked. “We are blood, like it or not, so you can’t kill me.”
Kion’s lips curled at that. “We are nothing! You killed that bond a long time ago when you murdered our father!” Kion seethed, as my eyes widened at the
new revelation,
1
No wonder Kion had been hell bent on putting an end to him…
“He deserved it!” Dimitri suddenly spat back at him, and within a second, Kion leaped forward – landing a single, brutal punch to Dimitri’s face that cracked the container walls as his head flew backwards against it.
Dimitri attempted to swing his strong arm back at him, only managing to clip his ear as Kion punched him again, most definitely breaking his nose this
time…
But it wasn’t just strength behind each hit Dimitri built an empire of rot for himself.
–
it was years of betrayal. Of suffering. Of watching his women be torn apart and trafficked like livestock while
“You fed on our women,” Kion spat. “You auctioned them off like trophies. You turned our lands into hunting grounds!” He roared, before trailing off in a Russian rage that I couldn’t begin to decipher.
I suddenly remembered about the woman who was still pressed tightly in to the furthest corner –
trembling…
My eyes searched the place quickly, before I moved towards the door to retrieve the backpack I had left right outside of it.
As I stepped out, I raided the bag for my spare clothes – retrieving a large black hoodie.
It will do…
I quickly turned at the sound of rustling leaves coming towards me, only to find Seth – still fully in tact and alive.
The others came in at his back, before Seth spoke first-
“We dealt with them all, there’s none left. How’s things inside?‘ Seth tests, probably wondering why I was out here alone now.
“Kion has him, but there’s a girl inside… she’s naked and freezing and we need to get her out of this place – fast. Her injuries are bad and I fear she won’t last much longer like this. I explain, as Seth’s eyes widen.

“Where is that bastard?! Viktor suddenly growls, stepping forward.
Be my guest… but we need to find out if there’s any more of his human compounds left to locate them… don’t let Rion kill him until we are certain I grab his arm as he goes to pass, reminding him of our objective, as he nods and shrugs me off to step inside.
Ill try the radios, see if we can get a signal for someone to bring a truck to our location… Seth offers, glancing around briefly Ill take him with incase they don’t know what I’m saying… He adds, motioning for the last warrior to follow him.
“We can’t be too far based on how long we walked the tunnels for, so the signal should pick up! Keep watch from the clearing incase anyone else is focus enough to try rescue this mutt!’ I instruct, as Seth scoffs at the thought and makes a move to jog off with Kion’s man at his side
I turned back toward the container, clutching the hoodie in my hands as I slipped back through to hear the sounds of Kion and Viktor growing Russley
demands at Dimitri.
But my only focus right now was the girl.
She hadn’t moved much
still curled in the corner, limbs trembling violently, her eyes squeezed shut like she was trying to disappear inside herself.
I swallowed hard, softening my steps as I crossed the space and crouched down in front of her.
The hoodie was somewhat warm from my body heat, as I tugged you, alright?”
open with both hands and spoke gently. “Hey… you’re okay now. I need to get this on
She didn’t answer.
Her skin was pale, nearly translucent in the dim light, the bruises across her shoulders sharp and angry.
The kind of bruises that spoke of hands that had no right to touch her.
I reached forward slowly, letting the fabric brush her forearm first, giving her time to flinch if she needed to.
She did.
Her body jerked violently, and a soft whimper escaped her lips.
“It’s alright,” I soothed. “I’m not going to hurt you. You’re safe.” It took a second, but her eyes fluttered open, locking on mine.
She looked young, but her eyes held years of suffering.
I pulled the hoodie gently over her head, guiding her arms through the sleeves with as little contact as possible.
But as soon as she was covered, her muscles seemed to give out all at once.
I didn’t hesitate.
I caught her, sliding one arm beneath her knees and the other around her back as I lifted her into my chest.
She was too light. Bones and bruises.
“You’re alright. I’ve got you.” I continued to reassure but she was still trembling, her head tilted slightly away from me.

“Do you understand English?” I asked next, and after a second, her head bobbed once.
Relief filled me.
“What’s your name? I pressed on, and there was another pause before she swallowed hard, and rasped;
“Sasha.”
I stilled.
My breath caught up in my chest as I pulled back just enough to look at her fully.
“Sasha?” I repeated, stunned. “Tessa told me all about you.”
Her lashes lifted suddenly, gaze blinking up at me. “Tessa? You… you are her mate?”
I nodded once, jaw clenched. “Yes. My name is Kane, I came here to get her back.”
Something shifted in her then.
She softened, leaning her forehead gently into my shoulder. A breath escaped her lips, and then a single tear spilled down her cheek as she cried.
“You’re safe,” I concluded, needing her to believe me.
‘Because she was.
Tessa had spoken about Sasha with such worry and overall gratitude for what she had done. Sasha had put herself on the line for two girls she barely knew. Risked herself to help Tessa and Erin survive Dimitri’s prison.
I owed her my life.
“You will need me alive if you want to find any more of them!” Dimitri bellowed in English now, his voice like a gunshot. “That man won’t be able to help you either!” He scoffed, pointing over at me wickedly as I growled.
My grip on Sasha tightened, before the snapping of bones came next, the sickening crunch of a body shifting against its will. Dimitri was forcing the change, injured or not.
“Shit, I muttered quickly, as a snarl ripped through the container like a chainsaw through flesh as Sasha sobbed even harder now – terrified.
He wants to fight…
