Clupter 23S
Chapter 218
Marina let out a soft sigh and collected herself. She cleaned up sure the place looked like she’ll never lived there at all. Only the
place, put away everything shri reted herself, and made did she drag fer suitcase out the door.
Luckily, she’d driven her car back from Royal View last night, so he didn’t need to trouble Eddy for a ride.
Thinking of Eddy, it hit Marina that he’d asked her to help ask aron for some time off.
She’d been in such a rush ending the call with Daron, she totally forgot to ask for Eddy.
Once she got in the car, Marina quickly called Eddy,
She hadn’t spent much time with Eddy, but these days, she’d staffed to notice his quiet kindness and how he always looked out for her.
Eddy picked up right away, and before she could say a word, he poke first, “Ms. Finley, are you going out? I’ll come get you right now.”
Marina said, “Eddy, you don’t need to come pick me up. I’m driving myself to the airport. I already spoke with Mr. Zamora, but the call ended so abruptly that I forgot to ask him about your time off as I promised.
“He’s dealing with some urgent matters right now and won’t be back in Sic for a while, so you’re free to arrange your
schedule as you see fit.”
There was a hint of guilt in Marina’s voice.
Eddy had always been so good to her, and yet she’d completely forgotten about the promise she made to him.
Eddy chuckled and said right away, “It’s fine, Ms. Finley. The important thing is that you got in touch with Mr. Zamora. He talks tough, but he’s really soft–hearted underneath. You should keep in touch and talk things out more.”
It was almost like Eddy had set this up just to give her a reason to call Daron.
Thinking about how Eddy had been acting lately, Marina thought it was really possible, which made her bitterly sad.
The distance between her and Daron felt insurmountable, and she just didn’t dare to take that leap.
After telling Eddy she’d be flying back to Vrufield today, Marina hung up.

In Vrufield, Marina returned home well past midnight.
She didn’t book her ticket until she got to the airport, and ended up snagging a seat on the last flight out.
After crossing the yard with her suitcase rolling behind her, Marina picked it up and carried it by hand.
At this hour, Elnora and Gauri were likely fast asleep, so Marina made sure not to disturb them.
She let herself in, then crept upstairs with her suitcase in hand.
Just as she reached the top of the stairs, she saw Albert coming out of Elnora’s room.
Marina froze, startled.
“You…” she blurted out.

Marina shit him a wary glare, her voice low and edged with suspicion. “Why are you creeping into Elnora’s room, Albert?”
After dealing with a jerk like Lavern, Marina was determined no to let Elnora get inixed up with a playboy like Albert
A guy like him was already dominating every gossip column before he even got married. No way he’d ever settle down after tying the knot.
Elnora deserved better. Marina couldn’t let Elnora get caught up with someone like Albert.
Albert didn’t get angry at Marina’s accusation. Instead, he just gave her a smirk and said, “Elnora and I are both adults. What do you think we’d get up to?”
Marina was so stunned she nearly forgot to breathe.
She said, “Elnora isn’t like the women you’re always hanging out with. She doesn’t have the time or patience to waste on your romantic games.”
Albert raised an eyebrow.
“Who says I’m just playing around with Elnora?” he retorted.
‘Albert is so shameless, Marina thought, her eyes narrowing. “Are you actually an
real right now?” she asked.
Albert raised an eyebrow, a cocky grin on his face. “Of course. Didn’t Elnora tell you? We’re getting engaged soon,” he replied.
Marina’s expression shifted, her surprise written all over her face
Albert quietly watched her reaction, an amused smile tugging at his lips.
“Well, looks like Elnora didn’t tell you. She probably wanted to surprise you, but I just spoiled it. When she finally tells you, just pretend you didn’t know anything, alright?” he teased.
Marina was so mad that her hands were shaking.
‘Surprise? More like a total shock,’ she thought.
Just thinking about Albert’s Playboy ways, all those ex–girlfriends, and the endless mistresses he’d probably have in the future made Marina annoyed.
Even though Marina knew Elnora was only agreeing to marry Albert to get the Campbell family’s backing for her career, the idea of Elnora being stuck in a marriage that would just wear her down made Marina feel awful.
If Elnora really went through with marrying Albert, Marina would rather swallow her pride and beg Daron to bail out the Finley family, even if it meant becoming his toy, waiting for the day he got tired of her and tossed her aside.
She’d rather go through hell herself than watch Elnora get trapped in a miserable marriage like that.
Marina said, “Elnora must’ve lost her mind for a moment when she agreed to your proposal. A guy like you could have any woman lining up for you.
“Besides, you and Marina have barely known each other for two weeks. You don’t really know her at all. This is just a spur–of- the–moment thing.
“Marriage isn’t a game, Albert. I hope you’ll seriously think it over.”

Just then. Elnora sivung open her bedroom door, her eyes sharp and serious as she fixed them on Marina.
“Show some respect to Albert,” Elnora said, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Marina bit her lip, feeling a wave of frustration and helplessness.

Albert gave her a gentle smile and said. No worries, ‘ve never seen your genuine, ale similar to you, so I can imagine what you’re like.”
Elnora avoided his smiling gaze and said politely, “Take care heading home. Bye.”
Albert nodded. “Alright, get some rest. If you can’t sleep, just give me a call.”
Elnora didn’t answer, just pulled a polite and distant smile.
Albert didn’t seem bothered at all. Still smiling, he headed downstairs.
As soon as he was gone, Marina rushed over and grabbed Elnoras hand.
She said, “Elnora, how could you agree to get engaged to him? Do you even know how many girlfriends he’s had over the years? Singers, actresses, models, you name it.
“He’s really dated so many women!”
And none of those women were easy to deal with. They all knew exactly how to get what they wanted.
Just picturing Elnora having to go up against them in the future made Marina upset.
