Chapter 106
Tessa’s POV
“Look, Tessa… I need to mate with you fully before we go back home, complete this bond. It’s safer for you if we do. I need to make you
mine my human – for everyone back home to properly respect you.” Kane concludes gently, as I think about what he was saying.
His words wrapped around me like invisible vines, tightening with each beat of my heart.
Deep down, I was ecstatic to hear that he wanted me fully. That he was ready to do everything he could to make our bond permanent
now. But I also felt nervous, having not thought about what was next for us until this point…
“If we mate fully, you’ll heal faster, you’ll be able to hopefully mind–link with me if you ever need me, I’ll sense whenever you’re upset or
in danger. Everyone back home will smell my scent all over you–they’ll know you’re mine without having to even question it. You’ll have
an extra layer of security over you at all times, and that’s what I need, Tessa. I need to return knowing I’ve done everything I could to
make you safe.” He rants on, filling the thickening silence between us.
He places the coffee cups down gently on the ledge of the wide hallway window beside us. The scent of roasted beans mixed with
something even more intoxicating- his presence.
His closeness.
The way his eyes searched mine, not with dominance or entitlement, but something far rarer. Something that looked a lot like longing.
Love.
He reached for my hand. His large, calloused palm enveloped mine with a gentleness that made my breath catch.
“I don’t want to pressure you too much,” he added, holding my gaze. “But I wanted you to consider it. Take your time with it too. We can
stay here at Kion’s pack for as long as it takes, until you’re ready.”
Ready.
The word echoed through me, stirring both curiosity and fear. What did ready even feel like? I wanted nothing more than to be by his side
forever. To live back at his magical pack where I felt safe.
“I just know that it will be so much easier for you if we go back home and you have a proper title,” Kane continued. “Something to give you your place amongst the bastard wolves who think they can talk down on you. You’ll no longer be just a human to them- you’ll be a fucking Luna. My Luna. The second strongest title in the entire country behind my own nobody would dare to disrespect you again.”
He said it with such certainty, like it was already a foregone conclusion.

But inside my head, everything was still spinning.

Mate with him.
Fully.
The words didn’t scare me in the way they once might’ve. This wasn’t the selection centre, where we were paraded and warned and whispered at from behind clipboards and cold stares. This wasn’t a contract to be signed or a test to pass anymore.
This was Kane.
The man who crossed countries for me.
The man who killed for me.
The man who found me when I didn’t think I could be found anymore.
Still, something heavy pressed at my chest. Not reluctance… not fear of him, but the fear of failing him. Of not knowing how to be what he needed.
The Centre back home had offered minimal education on mating. Vague outlines. Sanitised diagrams. One phrase had been repeated over and over like a song lyric:
“The male will guide you.”
But what if I couldn’t keep up? What if I disappointed him?
I must’ve gone too quiet for too long, because his brow pinched with concern. His thumb brushed over the back of my hand, grounding me, gentle again. Always so careful with me, like I was something precious.
“I don’t want to intimidate you…” he began, voice softer than before.
I cut in quickly, feeling the words rush out before I could stop them. “You aren’t. I’m sorry for not saying anything sooner. I was just thinking.”
His expression didn’t change- still that mix of concern and restraint- but his shoulders eased a little, as if those words were enough for
now.
“Please know, I do trust you,” I continued. “More than anything. You came back for me, Kane. You came all the way to Russia when I
thought you had let me go forever.”
Emotion swelled in my throat. My voice wobbled slightly but I pushed through.
“For that… I’m willing to give you anything, Kane.”
He blinked, lips parting slightly like he wasn’t expecting that- like he hadn’t dared to hope for it.

“I wouldn’t force you to do anything you didn’t want to…” he whispered.
“I know,” I nodded, stepping closer. “That’s why I’m willing to do it. For us.”
That was all it took.
In the next heartbeat, his lips were on mine.
Hot.
Certain.
Devouring.
But even in his urgency, there was care. His hand cupped the back of my neck as if shielding me from the world, while his other hand cradled my waist like I was something sacred.
I responded instantly, my hands reaching up to grasp at the fabric of his shirt, holding on to him as if he were the only thing tethering me to the ground.
Because maybe he was?
I wasn’t thinking anymore. I wasn’t spiraling or doubting or analysing every single beat of this moment.
I was feeling full of new life again.
The kiss deepened, igniting something inside me I hadn’t known I was holding back. A spark of need, of longing. Not just physical, but
something deeper- a craving to belong to someone who saw every broken, bruised part of me and still wanted me the way I was.
When we finally pulled apart, both of us breathless, I leaned my forehead against his chest, feeling the thunder of his heartbeat beneath
my skin.
“We’ll go slow,” he murmured into my hair. “We’ll do everything on your terms. I’ll keep you in the loop of what to expect. We can talk
more later.” He encouraged, as I sighed, grateful for a man like him.
I nodded against him, eyes shut tight, holding that promise in the warm space between us.
I wasn’t afraid of him.
I was just afraid of not being enough for what this kind of love required.
But maybe, just maybe… I already was.
“Let’s get back… Seth will whine that his coffee is cold.” Kane announces, erupting a laugh from us both as my eyes flickered to the

coffees that had been abandoned by the wintry window sill.
“Yeah, good idea!” I chuckle, as we resumed our position before carrying on back towards Sasha’s room.
The moment had came and gone, leaving me with a mix of new thoughts and emotions.
A new beginning was on the horizon, one I hadn’t considered until now, but one full of clarity and comfort.
A fresh start and an official bond.
But one thought lingered shakily in the back of my mind…
What would becoming a Luna really entail?
