Chapter 81
Logan had heard Eliana talk about boundaries more times than he could count lately.
Every time she said it, it felt like a punch to the gut, but Logan couldn’t argue back.
After all, Logan had been the one tossing those words around first.
Back when Logan didn’t want Eliana meddling in his personal life, he’d always thrown those words out there, n it was a big deal.
But now that the tables had turned, Logan realized just how much those words could sting.
Over the past month, Logan had found himself reflecting more than once if he had really messed up in how he trea Eliana in this marriage.
But that was just how people were. When one was caught up in one’s own habits, one didn’t even notice when one was screwing up.
Eliana had been so patient for six years that Logan had gotten so used to her putting up with everything. He just took it for granted she’d always stay.
She never left, no matter what Logan did. That was what made him think he could get away with anything, made him selfish and arrogant.
But the moment Logan realized she really might leave, a tidal wave of panic crashed over him.
But now, faced with her words, Logan was totally at a loss. He had no idea how to respond, just drowning in helplessness.
“Mr. Eliot, I don’t have time for this right now. If it’s business, talk to my assistant and set up a meeting.” Eliana said coolly, then hung up.
Logan stared at his phone, the call abruptly ended, and it took him a long moment to snap out of it.
Ever since Eliana had decisively asked for a divorce, the more time passed, the more Logan realized she was dead serious.
Now, sitting down and having a real conversation with her was probably the only way he could fix this mess.
It wasn’t until Eliana stopped bending over backwards for him that Logan finally realized, maybe he was the one who couldn’t live without her in this marriage.
Admitting it was tough, but deep down, he already knew the truth.
With no other options, Logan ended up calling Eliana’s assistant to try to book a meeting.
The earliest slot he could get was around 5 PM. Logan frowned, She’s really that busy now?”
Eliana’s assistant shot back, clearly annoyed, “Yeah, Mr. Eliot, Ms Lyons is slammed. The Westridge project is finally rolling. and everyone wants to talk to us. She’s been running around nonstop.
“Getting you in at five was the best I could do. If that’s too late for you, you can try tomorrow morning.”
“Ms. Lyons was supposed to have dinner with Mr. Turner tonight but she’s giving up her dinner just to meet with you about work,” the assistant added.
The moment he heard the dinner, Logan’s expression soured even more.
“She’s having dinner with Mr. Turner? Which one, Nathan?” Log pressed, his voice tight.

But the assistant replied coldly, “Sorry, that’s Ms. Lyons’s private business. I can’t tell you. Do you want the five o’clock slot or not? If you don’t, I’ll book someone else.”
Logan clenched his jaw, swallowing his frustration. “Fine. Book it he said.
The assistant just said, “Okay,” and hung up.
Logan was fuming all over again. The fact that even Eliana’s assistant was treating him like this made his whole world feel off–kilter.
But there was nothing he could do about it. The Westridge project needed to be sorted out ASAP, and right now, havin real conversation with Eliana was clearly more important.
Whether it was business or personal, Eliana had Logan wrapped around her finger. If he didn’t take the initiative, things were only going to get worse for him.
As he thought about it, Logan suddenly got it. No wonder Eliana looked so confident. She’d seen this coming from a mile away, just waiting for him to come crawling back.
Logan let out a cold laugh, and for some reason, he suddenly felt a weight lift off his shoulders.
We’re married, so what if I’m the one to back down first?‘ he wondered.
As long as she came back, their lives could get back to normal. Everything would start to improve, and this rough patch was just temporary.
After a month of handling the kids and all the chaos by himself, Logan finally realized just how tough things had been for Eliana in this marriage.
If Logan just put in a little more effort, showed her some understanding, things between them would smooth out soon enough.
With that thought, Logan finally felt a bit better. He went back to his work, only leaving for the Lyons Group when it was almost time for his meeting.
As Logan parked his car and
got
out in front of the Lyons Group, he happened to run into Wesley.
Seeing Wesley, Logan instinctively put on a smile and hurried over. “Wesley, you’re here, too. Why don’t we go up together?”
Ever since Logan married Eliana, Wesley had always been warm and gracious toward Logan.
Maybe it was because Wesley knew there was a difference in their backgrounds, or maybe Wesley just wanted his daughter to be happy.
Either way, Wesley never gave Logan a hard time; he always went out of his way to make sure Logan felt comfortable, letting him call the shots most of the time,
Because Wesley had always been that way in Logan’s mind, Logan never thought he’d ever have to face any awkwardness or pushback from him.
But as Logan hurried over, Wesley’s face turned cold. Wesley said flatly, “What are you doing here? Aren’t you and Eliana in the middle of a divorce?
“You didn’t show up because you’re regretting it, did you? What Changed your mind and don’t want to let go of my daughter now?”
Wesley just threw it out there, no filter at all, and Logan instantly felt his pride take a hit, as he’d just been slapped in the
face.

But with things the way they are, Logan didn’t dare say anything harsh. He just gave a sheepish smile and said, “Eliana and I just had a bit of a disagreement.
“I never thought she’d be so headstrong this time and even talk about divorce.”
“Honestly, I figured she’d just be upset for a couple of days and then come back. But since she’s still not home, I thought I’d come over and try to talk to her,” Logan added.
“Dad, you know we’ve been married six years, and we’ve barely ever argued, this really caught me off guard,” Logan said.
But as soon as Logan finished speaking. Wesley’s face grew even more grim.
Wesley let out a cold snort and gave Logan a steely glare. “Of course, argued all these years?
alone had a fight drag on this long. So yeah,
surprised. Don’t you know why you two
“It’s because Eliana was always the one swallowing her pride, always putting up with everything. But now, she’s finally had enough!”
Wesley added, “If even someone as patient as her can’t through in the Eliot family for six years.”
it
more, just imagine what kind of hell she must’ve gone
For the past month, every time Wesley thought about all the pain his daughter had suffered in Logan’s family, it broke his heart.
Wesley had been waiting for a chance to tear into Logan, and now Logan had practically handed himself over on a silver platter.
There was no way Wesley was letting this opportunity slip by, so without even realizing it, his voice rose as he let Logan have it; soon enough, people nearby started to take notice.
