Eliana frowned at Nathan, her gaze sharp. “Mr. Turner, aren’t you making it a little too obvious that you’re just here for the drama?”
Nathan let out a small cough, chuckling. “My bad, guess I couldn’t hide it very well. But hey, you have to admit, this is one hell of a show.”
Eliana didn’t bother arguing with him. She just started walking ahead. “Come on, let’s get your arm checked out.
“And Nathan, seriously, you’re an adult. Can’t you even come for a follow–up appointment by yourself? Do you really need me to babysit you?”
Nathan pouted, sounding a little hurt. “But Ms. Lyons, I got hurt because of you. You can’t just be so heartless.”
Eliana shot him a helpless look. “Fine, I owe you one. Let’s go.”
As she walked ahead, a faint smile appeared in Nathan’s eyes as he followed after her.
Nathan’s arm was actually in pretty bad shape. The moment Eliana saw the doctor unwrap the bandages and start disinfecting the injury, her heart skipped a beat.
All that playful teasing from earlier instantly vanished, replaced by a wave of anxiety. Eliana frowned, her nerves suddenly on edge; she couldn’t bear to look and had to turn away.
Just seeing that kind of wound made Eliana wince; she could almost feel the pain herself, especially now that the doctor was cleaning and dressing it again.
So when they finally left the treatment room, Eliana was noticeably warmer toward Nathan. “Seriously, thanks for helping me out that time.”
Nathan chuckled, “Don’t be so nice all of a sudden. I’m not used to you not giving me a hard time. If you really want to thank me, then take me out for dinner.”
Eliana nodded. “Sure, where do you want to go?”
“Let’s just go to our usual spot. After all these years, it’s still the one I like best,” Nathan said, looking at her with a rare seriousness.
When Nathan brought up that restaurant, scenes from their last visit instantly popped into Eliana’s head.
Eliana still couldn’t tell if it was the vibe or just being somewhere familiar, but she’d totally let loose and started rambling, even ended up swapping embarrassing high school stories with Nathan.
However, when she got home and thought about it, she wanted to bury herself alive.
‘God, that was mortifying,‘ Eliana thought.
Honestly, those high school screw–ups were nothing compared to how she’d made a fool of herself at the restaurant.
Thinking about it, Eliana blurted out, “Let’s pick somewhere else. The lady who owns that place keeps assuming we’re together, and if we keep showing up, she’s just going to get the wrong idea. It’s kind of awkward.”
A flash of disappointment crossed Nathan’s face when he heard that.
But he masked it quickly with a casual grin. “Fair enough. Your call, Ms. Lyons. You’re buying, so I’m good with anything.”
Eliana nodded.

Since Nathan’s arm was still injured, Eliana didn’t take him anywhere crowded. Instead, she brought him to a private villa run by the Perry family.
Eliana had already asked Irene to save them a spot, so when they showed up, Irene was waiting for them at the door.
The moment Irene saw the two of them together, she immediately started shipping them.
Irene couldn’t help but imagine, ‘If those two had never split up just how ridiculously happy would they be now? Honestly, Eliana probably would’ve had Nathan’s kid ages ago.
And let’s be real, their kid would never be as much of a pain as Samuel. Because their kid wouldn’t have some nightmare grandma stirring up trouble, or some wannabe woman trying to take Eliana’s place as mom!
With all that running through her mind, Irene couldn’t help but blurt out, “Nathan, why did you just disappear suddenly back in high school? Do you even know how much that hurt-
Before she could finish, Eliana clapped a hand over her mouth.
That was the deepest, most painful wound in Eliana’s heart, the reason she’d struggled with confidence for years.
She loved Nathan so much, but he just walked away from her like it was nothing. That kind of betrayal really messed her up, and ever since then, Eliana had always been insecure when it came to relationships.
That whole thing from back then was a sore spot for Eliana, something she never wanted to bring up again.
Eliana didn’t want to bring it up herself, and she definitely didn’t want anyone else to either.
So Eliana clapped a hand over Irene’s mouth and whispered in her ear, “Say one more word about this, and I’m seriously going to have to take you out.”
Irene realized she’d just blurted it out without thinking.
Honestly, Irene had been dying to ask Nathan about it for ages, but she knew better than to bring it up with Eliana right there.
Eliana might look all chill and unbothered around Nathan now, but only Irene knew how much it tore her up inside when Nathan ghosted her like that.
Realizing she’d messed up, Irene nodded frantically and then mimed zipping her lips shut.
Seeing Irene’s dramatic gesture, Eliana finally let go.
But before Irene could really relax, Nathan jumped in, “Wait, what were you just saying?”
Irene hurried to change the subject. “You guys still like the same stuff, right? I ordered all your old favorites. Come on, eat, Mr. Turner, Ms. Lyons, help me hype up my little restaurant

As she led them toward the private room, Irene kept chatting, “Eliana, isn’t your cooling–off period with that scumbag Logan up tomorrow? You don’t think he’s going to bail on you, right?”
When Irene called Logan a scumbag, Nathan couldn’t help but laugh. “Wait, what did you just call him?”
“What’s so funny? Like you’re any better, Logan,” Irene shot back
That wiped the smile right off Nathan’s face.
“Honestly, you know you are a heartbreaker, right?” Irene kept roasting him.
Eliana couldn’t help but laugh
