Chapter 52

Huntly was 2 hours drive from Mariners Bay. It was more of a scenic drive which made it totally worth the trip. The butterflies in my
stomach still hadn’t settled and every time I thought about seeing Blake’s parents, I felt even sicker.
Blake wasn’t feeling any better so I was driving. He took his medicine and closed his eyes with the hope that by the time we arrived, he
would be feeling a little better. The whole drive was very quiet and it was painful since I was already so nervous.
Blake had punched in the address on the GPS so I just had to follow the route. The closer we got, the more my anxiety rose. We were
about 15mins away when I woke Blake up.
“Blakey, we’re almost there. You wanna wake up?” I shook him a little.
“Hmmm.. yeah I guess so. My throat is so sore.” His was still croaking.
“There’s some throat lollies in my handbag. Take one it will help” I pointed to the back.
He turned and grabbed my bag and opened it.
“Wait I won’t find anything weird in here right?” He had a nervous laugh.
“No, you won’t! Wait what do you classify as weird?”
“Umm a dildo!” He raised his eyebrow.
“Okay, you’re fine then. That’s in my big bag”
“Umm…” he looked so shocked that I couldn’t hold in my laughter and just burst out laughing.
“I’m kidding Blake. I don’t think I wanna break my virtue with a dildo”
“You’re not funny! Here I was thinking that you’re such a saint and then you go ahead and say things like that.” He shook his head and
rampaged through my bag looking for the lollies. He pulled out a packet and an old photo.
It was a photo of Taylor, Rocky and me at the pier.
“This is cute. When was this? You all look very young” Blake popped a lolly into his mouth and turned the photo towards me.
“Oh, that was after Taylor’s parents bought her that apartment. We went down to the pier to celebrate being able to stay in Mariners Bay. Rocky had just put down a deposit for his place too. It was a big night for both of them. I was still an intern at Cooper & Co and all
my money was going into rent and mum. How I wished at that time that I too could do something for myself. Now I can and after we get
back from this trip, I’m moving out of your place and buying myself something!” I was determined to move out given things would get
awkward after this trip.

Chapter 52

Blake started laughing and put the picture back into my bag “yeah good luck with that. You are underestimating what’s about to
happen”

Before I could reply to him, I had turned into the driveway of Blake’s family home. They had a big black iron gate with a security booth
on one side. There was a sign on the booth saying “Cooper Mansion”
I stopped the car and rolled down the window as the security approached. He would have wondered why someone else was driving his
bosses car.
Blake leaned over “Hey Glen. It’s just me. Can you open the gate please?”
“Sure thing Mr B. Welcome home!” He said and walked back into the booth and pressed a button.
The hinges on the gate cricked and there was a thud as the metal frame forced itself open. It felt like the gates were opening up to the
pathway of heaven as the scene beyond it came into view. I could tell my mouth was open in awe after seeing the driveway lined with
cherry blossom trees that had flowers all over them.
“Shall we?” Blake said bring me out of my trances.

“You rich people really know how to decorate don’t you?” I asked, my eyes not leaving the flowers. They were my favourite.
Blake laughed “we have landscapers and interior decorators that do most of the work but yes, mum is very particular about what she
wants”
As we drove up the driveway, the mansion came into view. Mansion was an understatement. This place was huge. It was all white with
beautiful ivy growing around the outside. There were balconies on many of the windows and white sheer curtains hiding what I would
imagine is an amazing interior.
