“Now that you need me, you start blaming me for not seeing Samuel? You keep going in circles, but it’s always you guys who are right, huh?” Eliana shot back.
“Logan, what makes you think you have the right? Don’t you even feel embarrassed saying all this after everything you’ve done?” she pressed.
It wasn’t until Eliana stopped holding back that Logan realized just how sharp her tongue could be.
Her words left Logan’s face burning with embarrassment.
Logan had always assumed Eliana could never walk away from Samuel, that she’d cave in eventually. That was the only reason he dared to make such bold claims.
But after this past month, if Logan still thought that way, he’d just be kidding himself.
With Eliana snapping back at him like that, Logan was at a loss for words, just standing there in silence.
After a pause, he finally managed to say, “Those were just things I said in the heat of the moment.
“But no matter what, Samuel is your own flesh and blood. He’s sick and just wants to see his mom. That’s not too much to ask, is it?”
“No one’s saying that’s too much,” Eliana replied. “Since you brought it up, just let me know when you can drop Samuel off. I can look after him for a few days.”
Logan was once again left speechless by her comeback. Clenching his jaw, he asked, “Eliana, are you really never coming back home?”
Eliana didn’t hesitate. “If you’d kept your word today, we’d be divorced by now.
“Honestly, the way you keep going back on your word is seriously irritating. But you’re right about one thing. Samuel is my son, too. That’s why I’m even bothering to talk this through with you right now.
“If you want, just set a time and drop him off. If you don’t, whatever, I’m not gonna push you.”
“Dad, I want to go! I want to see Mom! Can you take me to her?” Samuel burst out before Logan could even get a word in.
Afraid Logan might get angry and refuse, Samuel hurried to speak before his dad could say no.
Logan glanced at Samuel, his brows knitting together, but he managed to hold back his frustration. “Alright, tomorrow then. Should I bring him to your place?”
“No need. My parents really don’t want to see you right now,” Eliana replied honestly. “Just drop him off at the coffee shop downstairs at Lyons Group at ten. I’ll pick him up there.”
Logan gave a quiet scoff, but in the end, he had no choice but to agree.

As soon as he agreed, Eliana hung up without another word.
The way she wouldn’t even spare him another word seriously got to Logan.
55 vouches
He was so used to Eliana always putting him first, and he just couldn’t deal with how distant she’d become.
But there was nothing he could do to change her, so he could only shove all those feelings down and keep them to himself.
Samuel had no clue what was going through Logan’s mind. The moment he heard Logan agree to take him to see Eliana tomorrow morning, he broke into a huge grin.
Seeing Samuel so happy, Logan let out a quiet sigh, then turned to him with a serious look. “Samuel, why the sudden urge to see your mom?”
Not long ago, Samuel couldn’t stand Eliana, but just a month later, it was like he’d turned into a whole new
person.
Samuel answered earnestly, “Because Mom never yells at me or hits me. She might discipline me, but she always explains things gently and never tries to scare me.
“Dad, I didn’t understand before, but after the doctor talked to me a lot, now I know Mom was right all along.
“I really can’t eat too much candy, and I’m really allergic to nuts. If I’d listened to Mom earlier, maybe I wouldn’t have suffered so much.
“I was just being stubborn before, but now I know Mom really cares about me. She really loves me.”
He was still just a kid, after all. Isabella had tricked him into seeing Eliana as the villain in everything.
But after Isabella scared him earlier that day, and he remembered how Eliana used to comfort him so patiently when he was sick, the difference hit him even harder.
At times like this, he missed Eliana even more.
Hearing Samuel say all that, Logan couldn’t help but glance at Samuel’s arm again.
Samuel was right. Maybe Eliana was strict sometimes, but she was his mom, and she really put her heart into raising him.
Honestly, it wasn’t just Samuel. Logan felt the same way.
With Eliana gone for the past month, everything just felt off for him.
Logan knew he had to figure out a way to bring Eliana back home.
Thinking about it, Logan looked at Samuel seriously. “Samuel, do you want Mom to come back?”
Samuel kept nodding. “I don’t want a new mom. I just want my mom. She’s the only mom I want.”
“Alright. So tomorrow, after I take you to her, you just…” Logan began, his tone serious as he looked at Samuel.

only want to come home if things
“That’s the only way to get Mom to come back,” Logan said earnestly. “Sh are good between her and Dad. Otherwise, she might go be someone else’s mom.”
Samuel listened carefully and nodded with determination. “Got it, Dad. I’ll remember.
Logan finally nodded gently. “You’re such a good kid, Samuel. Sophie’s probably got your herbal tonic ready by now. Let’s go downstairs and have some together, alright?
“If you finish your herbal tonic, you’ll be back to your old self in no time.”
Samuel nodded and grabbed Logan’s hand, following him downstairs.
Isabella heard them heading downstairs and quickly followed after.
Spotting Samuel already at the table, being all good and drinking his herbal tonic, Isabella’s face broke into a wide smile. “Samuel, you’re such a good kid! Drinking your herbal tonic all by yourself?”
But the moment she said that, Samuel, who really had been quietly drinking his tonic, suddenly jerked in fright. The spoon slipped right out of his hand and clattered onto the table, spilling most of the tonic everywhere.
Sophie hurried over to help clean up the mess.
Once she’d cleared away the spilled tonic, she quickly served Samuel another bowl.
Isabella hadn’t expected Samuel to react so strongly. Her smile faltered, and she tried to play it off, her voice gentle. “Samuel, what’s wrong? Did I scare you by talking to you out of nowhere?”
But as Isabella came closer, Samuel wouldn’t even touch his tonic anymore. He turned to Logan, his voice shaky and on the verge of tears. “Dad.”
“Isabella, could you not freak him out?” Logan hadn’t planned on blowing up, but seeing Samuel so terrified right in front of him, he just snapped.
With that, he strode over and blocked Isabella from getting any closer, putting himself between her and Samuel.
