Kane’s POV

Morning came around, filtering through the soft gray clouds and golden sunlight peeking in through the wide windows of the cabin.
The fire had long since burned down to embers, and the scent of pine lingered faintly in the air, mixed with something warmer… her.
My scent was all over her, as my wolf purred from within me, satisfied and whole that we had now fully mated with Tessa.
She was ours. Nothing would ever change that.
I lay still for a moment, my body relaxed in a way I hadn’t felt in months maybe years.
My arms were draped around her, and Tessa’s naked sleeping form was tucked tightly against me, skin clinging beneath the sheets to show off her curves.
Her hair spilled across the pillow and over my chest like silken ribbons. Every breath she took was slow and even, her cheek resting against my bare skin, her leg slung over mine possessively, instinctively, like she never wanted to let me go.
Neither did L.
I felt my dick harden with seeing her like this, wanting to repeat the night all over again this morning, but I knew she would need time to heal
and rest…
The light brushed across her shoulder and neck, and that’s when I saw it my mark.
There it was, right at the base of her neck where shoulder met throat, the skin faintly reddened but already beginning to heal, the shape
unmistakable.
It stood proud and perfect. My mark. My claim. My mate now.
She held the rare mark of an Alpha, and anybody that met her would know to tread carefully.
It made me relax, the masses of extra protection I was able to now give her moving forward helped to clear my mind.
Something swelled in my chest, too big to contain.
Relief, love, primal satisfaction- all of it.
It was done. She was truly mine now. Not just in the way we’d promised each other over and over again, but in the way the bond was meant to
be fulfilled.
Tessa belonged to me. And I to her.
I felt different. Stronger. More whole. More able to fight this war back home with a clear head.
Soon, we’d hopefully even be able to mind link with her. The possibilities were endless. I could heal her faster whenever she was hurt. Feel when she was scared or in danger.

Chapter 130
She would be safe, always and forever.
1 brushed a knuckle softly along her jaw, not wanting to wake her but needing to touch her.
She stirred slightly, her lips parting with a faint sigh, but she didn’t wake
My eyes dropped to her mark again, that perfect imprint that proved what we both already knew. No one could take her from me from Alpha, no Council, no warlord or trafficker. She was tethered to me- and to her- for the rest of our lives.
And gods, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Memories of last night played through my mind in flashes- her laughter in the restaurant, the amazing dinner, the way her eyes had glowed when she’d stepped out in that dress, unsure and radiant.
She’d trusted me completely. With her body. Her heart. Her future.
I bent down, pressing a kiss just beneath her ear, letting my lips linger there. Her skin was still warm and sweet, and I wpages her softly, “Mine.”
She stirred again, a small smile curving across her mouth as she snuggled closer under the covers. The sight of her like this- unguarded, safe, loved- was almost enough to undo me all over again.
I exhaled slowly, letting my hand run along the bare curve of her hip beneath the sheets. This… this was worth everything
And for the first time in a long time, I wasn’t bracing for the next war.
I was simply living for her. Living to protect her.
Tessa stirred against me, her lashes fluttering as she began to wake, stretching ever so slightly beneath the weight of the blanket tangled around us. Her cheek rubbed against my chest as she let out the softest of sighs- a sound that lit something inside me all over again.
I tilted my head down just in time to see her blink up at me, sleepy and soft and radiant in the morning light.
“Hey,” I murmured, brushing a thumb along her temple, tucking a wavy strand of hair behind her ear. “Morning, my little mate.”
Her smile came slow, like the sun rising. “Morning, big mate.” she whispered back as we both laughed at her words, her voice still hoarse with sleep. “What time is it?”
“Still early,” I said, kissing the top of her head. “We’ve got nowhere to be just yet.”
She hummed in approval and nestled in closer, her leg slipping higher up over my thigh, stealing more of my warmth. “Good.”
I shifted slightly, pressing another kiss to her hair before I asked gently, How do you feel?”
She let out a breath–part sigh, part shy laugh. “Sore.”
I chuckled low in my throat, lifting my head to look down at her. ‘Yeah?”
She gave a sheepish little nod, burying her face half into the pillow as a roky blush spread across her cheeks. “Don’t laugh,” she mumbled, the words muffled.

She peeked up at me, lips twitching into a smirk. “You’re proud of yourself aren’t you?
“Extremely. I said without hesitation, leaning down until my forehead toughed hers. “But mostly just proud of you,”
She blinked, then tilted her face up to mine. “Me? Why?”
“For trusting me. For letting me see you. All of you. For going through with it without hesitation/

Her eyes softened again, and her fingers curled lightly into my side. “There was never anyone else I’d have let that happen with. Just you.‘
I could feel her heart, her emotions, her truth.
“And how’s your neck?” I asked softly, brushing a knuckle against the edge of her mark as she shivered. “Not too sore?”
She shook her head. “No… it feels warm there. Not in a bad way. It’s kind of nice, actually.”
“Good, I murmured, leaning down to kiss the skin just beside it. “It’s beautiful.”
She giggled again, quieter this time, but the sparkle in her eyes was undeniable. “It’s weird. I still can’t believe it happened. We really did it.”
“We did,” I said, tightening my arm around her. “You’re mine now. Fully. Forever.”
She was quiet for a moment, letting the weight of those words settle over her. Then she whispered, “And you’re mine.”
“I sure am, angel.” 1 confirm firmly, as she just smiles.
A long silence passed, one filled with something sacred.
Eventually, she shifted, sighing as she stretched her arms above her head then winced slightly. “Okay, very sore down there.”
I laughed openly this time. “Poor thing. Should I run you a bath?”
She gave me a sideways look, trying not to smile. “Please do…”
