The Biker Alpha Who Became My Second Chance Mate
Chapter 388
Tristan
I thought I was prepared.
I’d spent the entire morning telling myself that I was ready for this moment. That I’d already seen Athena in a wedding dress at our mating ceremony just two nights ago. That I knew how beautiful she was, how radiant she looked carrying our babies. That nothing could
surprise me.
I was completely, utterly wrong.
The moment the music changed and everyone stood, my heart started hammering so hard I was sure Derek could hear it. I gripped my hands together in front of me, trying to look calm and collected, like an Alpha should.
“Breathe, Derek murmured beside me. “You’re turning purple.”
I sucked in a breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding.
And then she appeared at the end of the aisle on Orion’s arm.
Time stopped.
My knees nearly buckled.
I actually felt Derek’s hand on my elbow, steadying me, because apparently I had forgotten how to stand.
“Holy shit,” I breathed, not caring that we were in the middle of a wedding ceremony.
“Language,” Derek said automatically, but his voice was amused.
I couldn’t respond. Couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think. Because Athena was walking toward me, and she was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in my entire existence.
The dress. God, the dress.
It was ivory and lace and somehow both elegant and ethereal at the same time. The way it flowed over her pregnant belly, celebrating rather than hiding our babies, made my throat tight with emotion.
Her hair was swept up, showing off her graceful neck and the mate mark I’d placed there. Small white flowers were woven through the dark strands, catching the light from the chandeliers above.
But it was her face that destroyed me completely.
She was crying, tears already streaming down her cheeks, but she was smiling too–that brilliant, radiant smile that had first made me fall in love with her.
Her gray eyes were locked on mine, and even from this distance, I could feel the intensity of her gaze, the love radiating from her.
“You okay, man?” Derek whispered as Athena and Orion began their sw walk down the aisle.

“No. I admitted honestly. I’m about to lose it.”
“Hold it together for five more minutes,” he advised. “You can fall apa after you’re married. Again.”
I tried. I really did.

But with each step Athena took toward me, I felt my composure cruming. My eyes were burning, my throat was tight, and I was pretty
sure my hands were shaking.
I watched Lily walk in front of them, carefully scattering rose petals with such serious concentration that it made me smile even through my emotional breakdown. She was doing perfectly, taking her role as flower girl very seriously.
And Liam was beside her, like a gentleman. That’s my boy.
But then my eyes went right back to Athena.
She was closer now, close enough that I could see the tears on her cheeks, the way her hand rested protectively on her belly as she walked, Close enough to see the love and joy on her face, the slight trembling of her lips as she smiled at me.
Our bond hummed between us, stretched across the distance but pulling taut, like it was trying to close the gap faster. I could feel her emotions through it, her happiness, her love, her slight nervousness, her overwhelming sense of rightness.
And I knew she could feel mine too–my awe, my gratitude, my absolute certainty that she was my everything,
When she was about halfway down the aisle, our eyes met fully, and lost the battle with my tears. They spilled over, running down my cheeks, and I didn’t even try to wipe them away.
I saw her bottom lip tremble, more tears streaming down her face.
“I love you, I mouthed, not caring that everyone could see.
“I love you too,” she mouthed back..
The guests were crying too–I could hear the sniffles, see people reaching for tissues. Sarah was openly sobbing in the front row, while trying to hold herself together. Even some of my pack members, big tough wolves who’d seen battle, had wet eyes.
Finally, after what felt like both an eternity and a single heartbeat, Athena and Orion reached the arbor.
Up close, she was even more breathtaking. I could see the delicate lace of her sleeves, the way the dress hugged her curves before flowing gracefully over our babies.
I could see the flowers in her hair, real white blooms that matched the ones she’d worn at our mating ceremony. I could see every detail of her face, the makeup that made her gray eyes stand out, the natural glow that pregnancy had given her.
She was devastating. Absolutely devastating.
Orion stopped in front of me, and I watched as my best friend, my brother in all but blood, lifted Athena’s veil with gentle hands. He pressed a kiss to her forehead, and I saw his lips move as he said something to her. Whatever it was made her smile through her tears.
Then he turned to me, and his expression was serious despite the wetness in his own eyes.

“Take care of her,” he said, loud enough for everyone to hear. She’s re baby sister. The most precious person in my world besides my own
wife and children.”
with my life, I promised, my voice rough with emotion. “Always”
I know you will,” Orion said, then smiled. ‘Welcome to the family, brother. Officially.”
He placed Athena’s hand in mine, and the moment our skin touched, felt our bond flare with warmth and rightness.
The mate mark on my shoulder tingled, responding to her nearness, and I knew hers was doing the same.
Orion stepped back, taking his place beside Sarah in the front row, and Athena and I turned to face each other.
“Hi,” she whispered, looking up at me with those beautiful gray eyes.
I knew she was as nervous as me.
“Hi, I managed to whisper back, my voice cracking. “You’re so beautiful I forgot how to speak.”
“You’re speaking right now,” she pointed out, but she was smiling.
