Chapter 238
Marina glanced down at the bathrobe in her hand, paused for a moment, then knocked on the bathroom
door.
“Mr. Zamora, I brought your bathrobe. Do you want me to hang it on the door?” she called out.
There was no response from inside the bathroom.
Marina thought it over for a second, then decided to hang the bathrobe on the doorknob.
Just as she reached out, the bathroom door was suddenly pulled open from the inside.
A hand shot out and caught hold of her wrist.
For a split second, Marina thought he was about to pull her right in.
Her heart pounded wildly. She stared at his arm, water streaming down, feeling her nerves spike.
She kept her head down, not daring to follow his arm and look inside.
Luckily, the next second, he let go of her hand, snatched the bathrobe from her grip, and yanked it inside as if he was annoyed.
The bathroom door slammed shut with a bang.
Marina stared at the closed door, dazed for a few seconds, then quickly collected herself.
She didn’t leave. Instead, she stepped back a few paces and stood a short distance away, her back to the bathroom.
According to the work rules, she couldn’t be more than six feet away from Daron, so she wouldn’t miss any instructions.
About ten minutes later, the bathroom door swung open.
Daron stepped out, walked right past her, and headed straight for the walk–in closet.
As he passed by, he brought a cloud of steam with him.
‘Even the air I’m breathing feels damp now, Marina thought.
She followed Daron at a steady pace, stopping in front of the outfit she’d already picked out for him.
“Mr. Zamora, this is what I’ve chosen for you to wear today,” she said.
She looked a bit nervous as she said it.
Honestly, this was only her second time doing something like this.

Last time, it was because Garret asked her.
But their conversation yesterday hadn’t exactly been pleasant.
She wasn’t sure if Daron would try to make things difficult for her over this.
“Okay,” Daron replied, his tone flat.”
He didn’t raise any objections at all.
Clearly, he wasn’t in the mood to give her a hard time right now.

Marina let out a quiet sigh of relief. Just as she was about to leave the walk–in closet, Daron ordered in a deep voice.
“Blow–dry my hair,” he said.
“Sure,” Marina answered without hesitation.
Daron casually gestured toward a drawer with his long, elegant fingers.
Marina quickly walked over, opened it, and took out the hair dryer.
When she turned around, Daron was already sitting on the sofa in the walk–in closet.
He gestured toward the power outlet.
Marina plugged in the hair dryer, adjusted the airflow and temperature, then aimed the nozzle at Daron’s hair.
She only used the hair dryer, not daring to run her fingers through Daron’s hair.
Daron, sitting on the sofa, glanced back at her.
“Blowing it like that, how am I supposed to style my hair afterwards?” he said.
Marina quickly turned off the hair dryer and apologized in a low voice. “Sorry, I’ve never dried a man’s hair before.”
Daron watched her in silence.
Marina said respectfully, “Please teach me, Mr. Zamora.”
She looked sincerely eager to learn, clearly wanting to get it right.
Daron gave her a quick glance, then took the hair dryer from her and demonstrated it himself.
Marina quickly understood and took the hair dryer back.
Touching Daron’s hair for the first time, Marina couldn’t help but think it felt just like petting a giant, soft
puppy.

Marina forced herself not to get distracted and stayed focused on the job.
Once she finished, she put the hair dryer back in its place.
Daron had already gotten up from the sofa and began to undo his bathrobe.

Seeing this, Marina quickly stepped out of the walk–in closet, shutting the door for him as she left.
Daron glanced at the doorway, noticing her shadow lingering outside through the crack. Realizing she was waiting, a faint smile played at his lips before he looked away.
He slipped off his bathrobe and changed into the clothes Marina had prepared for him.
Standing in front of the mirror, he fixed his shirt collar and looped on a tie.
But the next second, he undid the tie and set it aside, his voice turning deep.
“Come in,” Daron called out.
A few seconds passed, but the door didn’t move.
Daron’s eyes darkened; he frowned, strode over, and pulled the door open himself.
Marina was standing right outside, completely lost in thought.
Hearing the door open, Marina snapped out of her thoughts and looked up at Daron. Noticing he hadn’t put on the tie, she was momentarily taken aback.
‘Maybe he didn’t like the tie I chose? I thought it was the best match for his outfit, Marina wondered.
Daron looked down at her, his tone low and serious.
“Were you spacing out just now?” he asked.
Seeing how serious he looked, Marina lowered her head and apologized right away. “Sorry.”
Seeing how meek and obedient she looked, Daron reined in his emotions and said coolly, “Come in and tie my tie.”
With that, he headed into the walk–in closet and stood in front of the mirror.
Marina obediently walked in and picked up the tie from the counter.
She walked over to him, but Daron just stood there, ramrod straight, clearly not planning to bend down for her. She mustered up the nerve and said in a small voice, “Mr. Zamora, could you bend down a little? It’s hard for me to reach.”
Daron glanced down at her, and for a second, they locked eyes. When it looked like he still wasn’t going to budge, Marina rose up on her tiptoes.
Right at that moment, Daron finally bent down.

The space between them vanished, and suddenly, they were close enough to feel each other’s breath.
Marina found herself just inches away from his striking face, and for a moment, she forgot to breathe. Instinctively, she stepped back.
But as she moved, a warm hand immediately settled on her waist.
Her eyes widened as she looked up at him, startled.
Daron’s eyes were cool, and he tightened his grip just a little.
“Don’t waste time,” he said.
“Tie it. Now,” Daron ordered.
His voice was low, with a commanding tone that brooked no refusal.
Marina hurried to tie his tie.
They were close the entire time.
Daron faced the mirror, and as Marina worked, he glanced at their reflection.
A mischievous glint flashed in his deep, dark eyes.
Once the tie was done, Marina pulled her hands back.
Daron’s hand on her waist didn’t linger; he withdrew it immediately.
With that dead–serious look on his face, Marina didn’t even think for a second that he’d just gotten a little too close.
Daron stood in front of the mirror, straightening up his
appearance.
Daron glanced at Marina’s reflection standing next to him in the mirror.
She respectfully stepped back two paces, already acting every bit the professional assistant.
Marina could feel his gaze on her; when she looked up, her eyes met Daron’s deep, scheming stare in the mirror.
Marina froze, caught off guard,
‘That look… Last time he gave me that look, I ended up working for him three months for free, Marina thought.
‘And now, is he planning to nitpick my mistakes just so he can drag out my contract?‘ she wondered.
