My Human

Chapter 134

Kane’s POV

The creak of the front door echoed through the entryway as Tessa and I stopped down the stairs, our bags in tow

The cool damp air floated in from the open door leading outside, as an army of activity was well in swing by now…

The hall bustled with movement- my men were everywhere mixed amongst Kion’s, hauling crates and suitcases, checking equipment, and shouting brief orders to one another as they prepared us for the journey ahead

It was controlled chaos, the kind that only a well- trained pack could pull off with practiced precision and without needing much instruction

from their Alpha…

Tessa slipped her hand into mine, her fingers warm and steady despite the whirlwind around us

Ready for this?I asked her, eyes scanning the room as several of my closest guards loaded gear into waiting vehicles

She nodded, her breath catching as Seth appeared nearby, grinning wide when he caught sight of me

Kane,Seth said, eyes sparkling with mischief

Now isn’t the time for jokes.I warned him, as he all but smirked and shook his head, enjoying the teasing

Tessa blushed fiercely, only able to imagine what was next to leave his lips, but Seth took the hint and didn’t let up

Erin was right behind him, practically bouncing as she wrapped Tessa in a quick hug before stepping back to gape openly at the faint mark

visible on her neck

I still can’t believe you did it!Erin exclaimed, loud enough to draw a few amused glances from some of my men who would’ve already figured it out from the scents alone…

Tessa hissed playfully at her again, warning her to keep it down, which only made everyone laugh again

I’ll be right backErin quickly excused herself, as Seth made a move to help the others outside

As I let the moment settle, my gaze drifted toward the sitting room doorst as it opened

Kion stepped out, impeccably dressed, carrying his own suitcase- a rare sight in itself

I squinted at the bag in surprise. You’re planning on coming?I asked, voce low but incredulous

Kion shrugged with a calm certainty that stopped the room’s noise in its ticks

I want to,he said simply. Things are under control here now. It would be right to let you go back home to chaos- not after what you’ve done for us all here.‘

His words hit me harder than I expected. There was gratitude there, yes, let more– an unspoken bond forged in the fires of this struggle we’d been through together in such a short space of time

I nodded, feeling the weight of it all settle into my shoulders

If you’re sureI said firmly, meeting his gaze as he nodded once

Kion smiled briefly, then turned toward the others, already issuing orders the tech guys in Russian, I’m assuming coordinating the flight plans

The buzz of preparation intensified around us, the steady rhythm of men bading bags and checking gear creating a tense backdrop to the quiet moment Kion and I just shared

Suddenly, from down the hall came an unfamiliar sound- soft wheels rolling over the wooden floor

I turned to see Erin pushing a wheelchair toward us, and in it sat Sasha

She looked smaller than before, but her eyes held that same fierce spark, a quiet determination that reminded me why we fought so hard for her freedom in the first place

The girl was braver than most

She wanted to say bye to us both at the door,Erin said with a warm smil, her voice a gentle contrast to the noise around us

Tessa’s breath caught, and I saw the flicker of emotion cross her face as she stepped forward, her lips trembling just slightly

Sasha,Tessa whispered, bending down to meet her friend’s eyes. She reached out, taking Sasha’s hand in hers with a tenderness that said

more than words ever could

Sasha gave a small, brave smile, squeezing back. I’m doing better, I just hope you’ll all be okayshe said softly, voice still a little rough but

steady

We will be, and you’ll always be welcome at our pack if you’re ever needing a new place to call home in the futureonce we have things

settled at home that is! But in the meantime, I’m sure Kion’s pack will be more than happy to have you.I step forward to speak up, as Sasha’s

eyes glance up to mine

Her eyes brimmed with tears, her whole face morphing. Thank you so much, for everything you didSasha nods respectfully, as I wave her

off

I’d do it all over againno need to thank me. You deserve better than all do that.I state with finality, as Tessa beams at my words, grateful

had said them

The girls fell in to a quiet conversation, as I glanced outside to see the storm had quieted to a low murmur, but the threat of it still lingered- both in the weather and beyond, always daring to come back

The final moments before departure were a blur of activity

My men moved like a welloiled machine, hauling bags, securing gear, and doublechecking every detail with sharp efficiency

The gravity of the mission ahead settled heavier in my chest with each passing second as time ticked closet…

Kion stood just a few steps away, his gaze sharp as he coordinated with everyone he could before setting off leaving no stone unturned

When our eyes eventually met, he gave a brief nod, a silent message that verything was in motion and ready for action now, as I inhaled

The helicopter’s could be seen down the hill at a vast clearing, a ten minute drive or so in the distance, as I moved around for a better view…

There were two large helicopters, big enough for all of our men, accompanied by the four fighter jets…

The blades were already spinning, slicing the cold air with a low roar that vibrated through the ground beneath us as they warmed up for the

main show…

Alright,I said, voice steady but low, let’s move.”

Tessa and Erin squeezed Sasha one last time promising to see her again soon, as I smiled at the girl once more before taking Tessa’s hand to

lead her out…

We fell into formation, moving toward the vehicles with purpose as one by one they drove off in the direction of the choppers…

Tessa squeezed my hand tighter in the back, and I glanced down at her. Despite the nerves I knew she carried, her eyes burned with fierce

determination

We’re going to be okay,I promised her quietly

She nodded, taking a deep breath

We are.She confirmed this time, sniffling back the remnants of her tears after saying goodbye to Sasha…

But the truth was, I didn’t actually know what to expect on this journey ahead…
