After a few more minutes of just lying there wrapped around each other, kissed her forehead and reluctantly pulled myself out of bed.
“Stay here,” I told her as she rolled to her side, watching me stretch with lazy, still–sleepy smile on her lips. “I’ll run you a bath and whilst
you’re in, I’ll make breakfast.”
“Oh so you cook now too?” she teased, lifting an eyebrow.
I smirked over my shoulder. “I do everything now. Mated life changes a man. You’ve just unlocked my extra qualities.” I state, as she laughs at
that.
She snorted, and I could hear the sheets shifting behind me as she burrowed deeper into them, watching me with a contented sigh.
I tugged on my sweats, padded barefoot in to the bathroom where the clawfoot tub awaited…
I checked the cabinets, finding some half empty bubble bath, pouring most of it before turning on the hot tap. I waited for it to fill, checking
the temperature and adjusting it accordingly, before taking the time to brush my teeth.
Once it was ready, I headed back in to the room, approaching the bed. “Let me give you a hand, you might struggle.” I announce, as Tessa
waves me off.
“No, no, I can manage.” She tells me defiantly, as I smirk and stand back, plding my arms as I watch her unravel herself from the sheets.
She covers her chest with her hands, leaving her pussy exposed as her scent slaps me in the face… mine.
She stands, attempting to take a few steps, before groaning loudly and hunching over in to a ball.
“I told you!” I warned, shaking my head, before moving to scoop her up from the floor, a squeal leaving her as I carry her with ease in to the
bathroom.
“Why does it ache so much!” She complains, as I smirk.
“I think we both know the answer to that don’t we…” I tease, as her cheek flush red at my words.
I help her in, earning a moan as the warmth of the water eases her aches most instantly…
“Keep moaning like that, I won’t be able to wait for round two… you’ll no walk for a week!” I groan out, as her eyes widen in horror at the
thought, making me laugh again.
“I’ll be in the kitchen, come when you’re ready, if you need me just yell.” tell her, pushing myself to stand, leaving her amongst the bubbles.
The cabin was completely silent apart from the faint crackle of the dying ubers in the fireplace.
I opened a few cabinets and was pleasantly surprised to find them stocked well Alpha Kion really had thought of everything. Fresh eggs, Bread. Fruit, Coffee. Even a bit of honey.
And so I got to work.

I whisked the eggs by hand, letting the quiet soothe me as the pan heated up. The sizzle of butter on the skillet made the space feel warmer. I cracked eggs into the pan, dropped slices of bread into the toaster, and sethe kettle on for coffee.
It didn’t take long. By the time everything was plated, the cabin smelled lie toasted bread, scrambled eggs, and sweet fruit.
“Tess,” I called softly. “Breakfast’s ready.”
A moment later, I heard the quiet thump of her feet hitting the floor. She added out in one of the white robes, tied loosely around her middle,
her hair slightly damp from the soak and her eyes still hazy from sleep.
“You can walk now I see…” I raise a brow in amusement, as she smirks.
“It definitely helped.” She nodded, eyeing up the spread I had created.
“This smells amazing.” She compliments, boosting my ego with her words.
We ate together in comfortable silence for a few minutes, watching the dying fire as the warmth of the meal settled into our bones
accompanied by the coffee.
Outside, snow had begun to fall lightly again, the flakes floating lazily against the wide windows. The whole scene looked like something out of a storybook- too peaceful to be real.
“What happens next?” she asked softly, voice full of wonder and uncertainty.
I reached for her hand across the table, threading our fingers together.
“We go home,” I said. “Do whatever it takes to get there. I’ll take down the council. Then we live happily ever after like this.” I shrug as though
it were easy.
She nodded slowly. “I believe in you.”
We still had a few more hours in our own quiet world- tucked away from the burdens that waited beyond the woods. And I intended to
savor every one of them.
She finished up, before moving from her spot to place the dishes in the sink, quickly moving back down the hall with a devilish smile on her
face…
“Come back here,‘ I said, standing and placing my own plates in, following her back to the bedroom.
Tessa smiled at me as I entered, eyes glinting as she had snuck her way back under the sheets. Come here for another cuddle… no funny business though!” She warns teasingly, as my dick twitches.
“No promises. I warn, moving towards her quickly.
We melted back into the sheets, wrapped up in the warmth and something much deeper than either of us could name.
Tessa curled into me under the blanket, her cheek resting on my bare che, her fingers lightly tracing the edge of my ribs.
I stroked my hand up and down her back, feeling the steady rhythm of her heart syncing with mine.
The wolf inside me was finally at peace- settled in a way I didn’t even know was possible.

I didn’t want to move. Didn’t want the moment to end.
But eventually, the soft chime of my phone buzzed on the nightstand. I groaned, burying my face in her hair.
“Duty calls,” I muttered.

Tessa grunted. “Ignore it.”
“I wish.” I shook my head.
She peeked up at me, sleepy–eyed and stubborn. “Tell the world you’re busy. Tell them your mate said no.
I grinned, kissed her nose, and reached for the phone.
A message from Kion:
‘When you’re ready, the helicopter is prepped. Storms are coming in later tonight. Best to get back before then. Hope you had a good night…;)”
I sighed.
“What is it?” she asked, her voice small now.
“Kion’s preparing to get us back home,” I said quietly. “Wants us to beat the weather.”
She sat up slowly, the blanket slipping off her shoulders. Her mark caught the light again, a soft reminder of everything we’d shared, everything we now were. She glanced out the window at the snowy woods beyond, lips parting slightly.
“Already?” she whispered.
“I know,” I said, rubbing my hand over my jaw. “But as soon as I sort out the mess back home, every morning will feel like this.” I tell her firmly, my eyes searching hers.
“Promise?” She whispers, as my lips meet hers.
“I promise.” I nod, knowing I would stop at nothing to give her that.
