Chapter 106
Once he’d sent off all the photos, Logan headed home with Samuel,
K1154
Only when he got home and saw Isabella wasn’t there did he remember she’d tried calling him several times earlier.
Logan asked Sophie, and that’s when he finally learned what had gone down.
He’d promised Isabella he’d take care of things for her, but after the Westridge project blew up, he was barely keeping his own head above water and just couldn’t deal with her problems on top of his own.
Still, Logan never thought Hannah would be so ruthless as to actually call the police.
Isabella had once saved his life, and even though Logan was fed up with everything she’d done lately, he just couldn’t stand by and watch her go to jail. So he left Samuel with Sophie and headed out in his car.
On his way to the police station, Logan called Hannah.
When she picked up, he sounded exhausted. “Mom, is this really necessary? She’s the daughter of an old friend, someone you watched grow up.
“Even if she’s gone off the rails and scammed you out of 5 million, couldn’t you just give her a talking–to? Why are you making such a big deal out of it and sending her to jail?”
He continued, “If this blows up, Isabella will be humiliated, but do you really think the Eliot family won’t be embarrassed
too?
“Everyone knows how close you and Isabella’s mom used to be. Now you’re calling the cops on her daughter over some money? If word gets out, our whole family will be a laughingstock.
“You need to get over here right now and just say you want to withdraw the report. If we act fast, we can still keep this from blowing up.”
Hannah was already starting to regret calling the cops. She realized she’d blown things way out of proportion. She’d just gotten so worked up by what Aurora had said earlier.
But now that Hannah was calmer, and with Logan’s words ringing in her ears, she couldn’t just sit there anymore. She quickly agreed and called for a driver to take her over.
Logan and Hannah figured that if they just showed up and dropped the charges, everything would be fine.
But when they arrived, the officer told them that while the necklace thing could be chalked up to a family dispute and dismissed, Isabella was now in way deeper trouble.
The officer said, “Ms. Hewitt is suspected of a hit–and–run, and even tried to have someone else take the fall for her.
“The dashcam footage makes it clear it was intentional, so this is now a criminal case. She can’t be bailed out at the moment.
“But don’t worry, Mr. Eliot. We’ll keep you posted on any new developments. If it’s all just a misunderstanding, that’d be for the best. We just need to finish our investigation before we can say anything for sure.”
As they walked out of the police station, even Hannah was starting to panic. “How could this happen? There must be some mistake. Isabella being involved in a criminal case? That’s impossible.”
Seeing Hannah’s reaction, Logan just sighed quietly, not bothering to argue.
He’d known about the dashcam footage, and he was aware Isabela had gone to Zrand before. Back then, he’d chosen to cover for her.

That whole mess should’ve been over, but Aurora couldn’t let it go and brought it up again to Eliana, stirring up trouble and making her look into it once more.
Once Aurora got her hands on the dashcam footage, everyone started looking into it again, and that’s how Isabella ended up getting dragged into the mess.
Logan was completely stumped.
He couldn’t understand how Isabella could do something so reckless and still act as if nothing happened, and he was even more confused that Aurora’s first reaction after seeing the footage was to go confront Eliana about it.
The video was insanely dangerous. Eliana was almost run over. With the car going that fast, if she’d actually been hit, it could’ve ended really badly.
Logan seriously couldn’t understand what either of them was thinking.
After all this time juggling everyone’s mess, Logan was just done. He was completely drained and honestly didn’t care anymore. ‘Let them handle their own problems, he thought.
If Isabella couldn’t get herself out of this one, maybe spending some time inside would finally teach her a lesson.
Logan sighed quietly, not bothering to say anything else.
Hannah glanced at Logan, sensing he was hiding something. Once they were both in the car, she finally spoke up, her voice tentative, “Did you know about this from the start?”
“So it really was Isabella? How could she have the guts to do something like this? What was she thinking?” Hannah was genuinely rattled by the truth.
“Good thing Eliana’s alright, otherwise, Isabella would’ve been facing murder charges,” she said.
As she spoke, Hannah fixed Logan with a serious look. “Logan, this time, just let her do some time. Let her sit in there for a few years and learn what real consequences feel like. The way she is now is honestly scary.”
She went on, “She was willing to run Eliana down just to be with you. If I ever refused to let her marry into the Eliot family, would she try to run me over, too?
“She’s picked up all kinds of bad habits from living overseas, and we just can’t control her anymore. Maybe some time behind bars will finally wake her up.”
Hannah’s words weren’t just about blame anymore; one could hear the fear in her voice now.
Logan’s face darkened as he listened to her.
‘Mom had a point, he thought. ‘Isabella was nothing like the girl used to know. Maybe letting her deal with this on her own is exactly what she needs.
Logan just nodded, fired up the engine, and pulled away, not saying another word.
Meanwhile, Eliana had just walked in the door, barely had a chance to catch her breath, when her phone started blowing up like crazy.
Texts and calls kept pouring in, one after another.
Eliana furrowed her brows, totally confused about what was happening, but the flood of notifications was enough to make anyone jump.
She snatched up her phone and saw Irene’s name flashing on the screen, so she picked up in a hurry.

Before Eliana could even say hello, Irene was already yelling, “Elna, have you lost your mind? Weren’t you supposed to be gathering evidence for your divorce?
“Why the hell are you out with Logan and the kid together? Couldn’t you just take him out on your
own?
“And even if you had to go together, why are you glued to his side like that? Are you just begging people to get the wrong idea?”
She continued, “Do you have any clue how shady Logan is? He got someone to secretly snap pics of you two, and now those photos are plastered all over the internet.
“His company is using them as ammo for their PR crisis. All those folks who were backing you up before? They’ve flipped and are dragging you through the mud online.
“Get online and check it out, quick! We need to figure out what the hell we’re going to do.”
