Chapter 10
“Why is he always growling like thunder?” I muttered in my head.
Ethan stood tall and muscular, but beside Ace he somehow looked smaller. Ace’s shoulders were wider, his muscles ripped. his body built like someone who never lost a fight.
“Uncle Ethan!” Liam shouted, stretching his hands out with pure joy.
Ignoring Ace’s burning glare, Ethan walked forward and lifted Liam into his arms. Liam wrapped his tiny arms around his neck like he had been waiting all day for him.
“What happened to you, big boy?” Ethan asked in a calm voice.
Liam started talking fast, narrating everything he did earlier. For someone who just said he beat up a rogue, he sounded so happy and proud of himself.
“Uncle, I want to look like the big Alpha when I grow up. Should I start eating more meat like you do?” Liam said, eyes shining as he stared at Ace like he was some superhero even though he literally did nothing.
Ace’s lips curved, slowly.
Ethan scoffed under his breath like he’d just been insulted.
“You want to look like that old man?” Ethan asked Liam, raising a brow.
Liam nodded hard. “Yes! He’s so strong. And tall. And he growls like thunder!”
Ace folded his arms with that smug smile. “Smart kid.”
Ethan rolled his eyes. “Please. I can growl too.” He attempted some funny growl that sounded like a puppy pretending to be
scary.
Liam burst into laughter. “That’s not growling, Uncle! That’s… coughing!”
They were officially acting petty. Over a child.
Ethan walked toward me with Liam still in his arms, his eyes searching my face.
“You okay?” he asked gently, then cupped my face in one big hand, the same way Ace did earlier.
A deep growl tore through the space again.
It’s official. That damn Alpha is a beast.
“Are you okay? You must have been worried. I’m sorry I wasn’t here early enough.” Ethan’s voice was soft, and the worried look on his face made him act like I was some egg that could crack at any moment.
“I was a bit worried, but I’m better now,” I said quietly. “I never imagined something like that would happen in the school.”
My chest still felt tight. I was so scared something bad happened to my son.
“I felt the same when the principal called me. I left everything…”
Ace cut him off rudely. If anger could kill, Ethan wouldn’t be standing.

Because I’m his guardian Ethan replied. Then that annoying unik dewly showed on his face. “You can ich tay Char and 1 are his parents”
Ace’s face went blank. It was so hard to see what he was thinking
I’ve been taking care of him since he was born, so it’s right to say Fm his father. Anything else?”
I almost choked on my own breath.
Why are these two hot grown men acting like jealous teenagers over my child
I looked at Ace again, waiting for him to fire back, but he didn’t. His eyes shifted for half a second, and something that looked like hurt flashed there. Then it disappeared so fast I thought I imagined it.
“Come on, let me take you guys home before I head back to work.” Ethan said, walking toward his car with Liar bouncing happily in his arms.
“I’m coming with you,” Ace added. He was acting like he had every right to be here.
I turned to Ace. “Thank you for bringing me here, but I don’t want to bother you anymore. You’ve already done enough.”
And I meant it. I was really grateful.
He muttered something under his breath. It sounded like, “It’s nowhere close to enough.”
“Excuse me?” I asked, wanting him to repeat it.
“I said I want to drive you home,” he replied, louder this time. “I need to make sure the rogue doesn’t come back. They hunt in packs. Liam said he beat one up and it ran away, an animal like that could still be lurking around.”
Liam gasped excitedly, holding onto Ethan’s shirt. “Yes! I want Uncle big Alpha to come with us. I’m sure he’ll beat up the black wolf if it comes back.”
Ethan shot me a look, half concerned, half unsure. “Are you sure you’re going to be okay with him?”
I gave him a small nod.
He turned to Ace. “Hurt my babies and I promise I’ll tear you apart.”
Ace chuckled like he found it adorable. “I’d like to see you try.”
Ethan’s phone rang. He sighed, gave me an apologetic look, then leaned in and kissed my forehead before driving off.
“I don’t like that guy,” Ace muttered.
I giggled. “The feeling is mutual. He doesn’t like you either.”
We got into the car, and Liam immediately started talking like a tiny radio that couldn’t be switched off.
“What’s your name?” he asked from the back seat, already leaning forward.
“My name is Ace,” the Alpha answered, his eyes soft.

Liam gasped dramatically. “Ace? That’s a superhero name! Do you fly?”
Are smiled. “Not yer”
“Mummy, did you hear that? The big Alpha doesn’t fly yet. Maybe he will tomorrow,”
Ace chuckled. “Maybe.”
Liam kept going. “Your eyes are green like mine. Does that mean you like chocolate milk too? Because only cool people like Chocolate milk.”
“I guess that makes me cool then,” Ace replied, looking strangely proud.
“And do you beat up bad wolves every day?” Liam asked, eyes wide with admiration.
“Only the ones that try to hurt good boys like you or your mum.”
Liam grinned at me. “Mummy, he talks like a superhero. Maybe he’s my second daddy.”
“I hear Alphas have Lunas as their wives, right?” Liam asked, leaning forward with full curiosity on his tiny face.
“That’s right, buddy,” Ace replied.
“So that means you have a Luna.” Liam’s voice dropped a little, like he didn’t like the idea.
Ace didn’t answer immediately. His jaw flexed and his grip tightened on the steering wheel for a second.
“It’s… complicated,” he finally said.
Liam didn’t let it go. “Well, my mummy doesn’t have a mate yet. I want her to have a mate like you, big and strong, who will take care of her.”
“Liam!” I gasped, feeling my whole soul leave my body for a second.
Ace’s face lit up like Liam just handed him a crown.
“Mummy, Uncle Alpha is strong,” Liam continued confidently, ignoring me. “And he’s a good match for you. He’ll take good care of you.”
Ace’s dimples appeared, and he tried to hide the smile, but it was too late.
I still hadn’t settled with how friendly Liam suddenly became with Ace. He never liked any man coming close to me. The only person he loved was Ethan, and now he liked Ace a little too much.
They kept chatting until we got home. I told one of my staff to run Liam’s bath water.
“Uncle Alpha, I’m going to have my bath now. Will I see you again?” Liam asked, his voice full of hope.
Ace bent to his level, gently ruffling his curls. “You want me to come see you again?”
“Yes! You can also come to my school and the house.” Liam turned to me with those bright eyes. “Mummy, is it okay if Uncle Alpha comes to the house? He can also come to my school, right?”
“Liam, baby, go upstairs. I’ll talk with Uncle Alpha,” I said.
“Okay, Mummy.” He stretched his tiny arms around Ace’s neck and gave him a tight hug before running to his room.

“Amazing boy you’ve got there. Ace said, his eyes holding some kind of longing I didn’t want to read into.
“Im sorry, he’s not usually like this. And I know you’re busy, so I’ll make sure he doesn’t get his hopes up.”
“I don’t mind coming around to see him.” Ace said, stepping a little closer. “If it’s okay with you. And I still stand on what! said earlier. You should change his school and put him somewhere safer.”
I folded my arms. “Liam is my son. I have every right to decide where he goes to school or not.” My voice was calm. “You’re nothing to him and nothing to me. So I suggest you keep your distance and we won’t have a problem.”
“I’m only looking out for him.”
“Are you deaf?” My voice snapped through the air. “I said my son is none of your business, and I would appreciate it if you stayed away.”
I thought that would stop him. It didn’t. The next words left his lips, and I felt Astra growl in my head after being quiet for so long.
“Who is Liam’s father?”
“It’s none of his business!” Astra yelled.
I echoed her in the same tone.
“It’s none of your business.”
