Daron got out of the car, with Marina following closely behind. Just then, a Frency man in a suit approached from the direction of the elevator.
Marina’s expression tightened, and she instinctively stepped forward, moving even closer to Daron. When she saw that he looked completely calm, her nerves eased a little.
The man walked up to Daron, looking a bit embarrassed, and started giving his report.
Marina caught the gist. Things had gotten even more serious because some union leaders were fanning the flames.
At the same time, the union had already sent someone over, hoping Daron would provide some funding so they could make the protesters leave.
Daron’s brows furrowed, his jaw set and expression tight as he stayed silent.
Marina stuck close behind Daron as they stepped into the elevator.
The three of them stood in tense silence inside the elevator until Daron finally broke it.
“Ken, how do you want to handle this?” he asked.
Ken was caught off guard by Daron’s question. He paused, considering his response before speaking.
“Mr. Zamora, as you folks say, sometimes the less trouble, the better,” Ken said.
“They’ve been protesting and making a scene for a while now, and it’s seriously disrupting our operations. Maybe we should just give them some money and make this go away,” he added.
Daron’s brows furrowed, but he didn’t respond to Ken’s suggestion.
The air in the elevator grew tense and quiet.
Ken seemed to realize Daron wasn’t interested in just settling things with money, so he ventured tentatively.
Ken asked carefully, “Mr. Zamora, how do you want to handle this?”
Daron didn’t answer immediately, his gaze darkening as he fell into thought.

They’re using this incident to squeeze the company now, and if we cave, next time they’ll just come up with another excuse to blackmail us all over again,” she said.
Daron clearly agreed with Marina’s response. He nodded and asked in a low voice,
“What do you think we should do next?”
Marina looked up at Daron and replied seriously,
“Meet with the union leaders and secretly record them asking for money. Then, put out a public statement and slightly increase the compensation for the deceased’s family, so we can get ahead in public opinion. After that, sue them for extortion,” she said.
Daron hadn’t expected Marina to already have a plan in mind just like that.
He nodded, his voice low. “Not bad. That’s pretty comprehensive”
Marina felt a bit awkward under his approving gaze, so she looked away and said quietly.
“It’s just the standard way to deal with it. Anyone in my shoes would probably think of this,” Marina said.
Daron replied, “Lots of people want me to just sweep things under the rug, but not everyone would come up with a plan like
yours.”

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

Normally, Daron should’ve put this to bed during his last trip to Frency, but just a few days after he left, things blew up all over again.
