Chapter 64
Damion’s POV
“What else do you want to know about me?”
I asked upon our arrival in our chamber. I tried not to think about the moment we’d just had. If I hadn’t been strong enough to withdraw, i would have kissed her. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to, I just wanted to give her time to get used to the idea of me wanting her that way.
‘I want to know more, and most importantly, I want to know your story, ve you always hated your brother, or planned to k–k-”
“Are you asking me if I’ve always wanted to kill my brother?”
Freda finding it hard to say the word “kill” was endearing. It would be easier to lie to her, but I didn’t want to. So I told her the truth.
“It wasn’t always that way. At one point when we were growing up, I loved my brother. But things changed over the decades. Nothing remains the same in a game of thrones. I got stronger, different, more powerful–and fear came. Once it came, it didn’t leave. It affected my father so deeply that he had to turn my brother against me. Father preyed on Steve and made him into something I ended up hating. Steve was a fool. He was weak. And I want to believe I helped him.”
Her eyes widened. I wasn’t trying to sugarcoat my words because she needed to know how I felt. I would never open up for anybody except her. I bared myself to her so she could judge for herself the type of man I was.
“You helped him by killing him?”
She went to the other side of the bed and sat down. I could tell she was uncomfortable with my revelation, and I didn’t want that. So I walked toward her after shutting the door.

My eyes never left hers. Her tongue came out to lick the dryness from her bottom lip, and I followed the movement. I wanted that tongue licking mine but not yet, I told myself.
Taking my seat beside her, I held her small hand in mine.
“You should understand that it was bound to happen. If it wasn’t me, it would have been someone else or my father himself. I promise you, he felt no pain. It was a clean and swift cut.”
I tried not to describe it too much, but somehow I loved the way her eyes danced with fear. It excited me.
“So, okay, um-”
She was trying to compose herself and failing terribly. It made me chuckle,
“Relax, Freda. You’re the one person I would never hurt.”
My hand holding hers moved toward the pulse in her wrist. I could tell with every beat what she was feeling. Right now, it wasn’t fear.
“Will you ever let your father out?”
She asked innocently. I debated whether telling the truth was the right thing to do.

“Yes. He deserves to die after what he’s done to my people and to even witches.”
I smiled. She was defiant and endearing when she tried to act bold.
“I don’t care about your people or what he did to them. I only care about how it makes you feel. If you want him dead, then so be it but on my timing. Is that okay?”
Her eyes grew wide.
“Why?”
She asked. I looked at her, confused.
“What do you mean, why?”
“Why do you do everything I say?”
She released her hand from mine, folding them on her thighs.
My face softened. I grabbed her hand again and brought it to my lips this time, kissing the smooth skin while staring into her eyes.
“Because I want to.”
I knew it wasn’t the answer she was looking for, but it was the truth. I wouldn’t do anything I didn’t want to do.
“Okay. Can I ask one more question?”
I nodded, placing both our hands on my thigh.
“It’s, uh, something different. But have you been with a werewolf before?”
I was taken aback. It wasn’t the type of question I’d imagined she’d ask.
“What do you mean by ‘been with“?”
I asked, trying to sound like I didn’t understand.
“I mean, have you had sexual intercourse with my kind before?”
She said it again, this time sounding bolder. I grinned.

“What is it?”

I shook my head. That wasn’t something I was going to tell her. I’d been athing for over a hundred years. I’d been with over fifty women, if I wasn’t mistaken. She didn’t need to know that..
“Not so many. We can continue this next time. You have a long day ahead of you tomorrow.”
She frowned. “What’s happening tomorrow?”
“Elara is coming by to continue with the lessons.”
