The next morning, Marina Finley woke up super early. She glanced at the clock. It was just 5:30.
She’d only gotten a little over three hours of sleep.
Marina pressed her forehead, thinking about the message Daron had sent her last night. She wanted to crawl back into bed and catch a few more hours, but no matter what she tried, sleep just wouldn’t come.
After lying there for ten minutes, her thoughts gradually became clearer.
Marina let out a helpless sigh and pressed her forehead again, ‘Seriously, what’s wrong with me?‘ she wondered.
Usually, when she actually needed to get up early, she’d feel so groggy she could barely drag herself out of bed.
But of course, on the one day she didn’t have to check in with Daron, she was wide awake and couldn’t sleep at all.
Marina gathered her thoughts, got out of bed, and headed to the bathroom to freshen up. After that, she hopped in her car and drove over to Daron’s place.
As Marina pulled into the underground garage, she realized Daron’s car was nowhere to be seen. She frowned in confusion. Weird, he’s usually here by now,’ she thought.
After walking through the living room and into the walk–in closet, Marina glanced over at Daron’s bedroom. The door was slightly ajar. She hesitated for a few seconds, then gently pushed it open.
She didn’t see Daron anywhere.
The bed was empty.
The sheets and blanket were perfectly neat, just like when she’d come over to help him pack the other day.
Marina just stood there, a bit lost.
‘Wait, did Daron not come home last night?‘ Marina thought to herself.
Feeling confused, Marina pulled out her phone, thinking, ‘Where could Daron be?‘ and dialed his number.
At the Zamora Group’s Headquarters, Daron had just wrapped up the paperwork from the Frency branch and signed off on the electronic contract.
When he saw Marina’s name pop up on his screen, he answered right away and held the phone to his ear.
“What is it?” Daron said coolly.
Marina said, “Mr. Zamora, you didn’t come home last night?”
Hearing that, Daron pulled the phone away from his ear and checked his notifications. Sure enough, there was a security alert saying someone had entered his home.
Daron responded with a low hum, his tone serious.
“Didn’t I tell you not to come over today?” he asked.
Marina bit her lip awkwardly and said quietly, “I forgot.”
She couldn’t exactly admit to Daron that her body clock now had her up at 5:30 every morning, and she’d gotten so used to looking after him that playing the perfect wife was basically second nature to her now.

But even though Marina didn’t say it, Daron could read between the lines. He said in a low voice.

“You’re only at Zamora Group for three months, right? Getting into this habit isn’t great for you. Once you’re gone, it’s gonna take you a while to get used to things again,” Daron said.
Marina let out a silent sigh.
Ugh, this guy is almost annoyingly smart, she thought.
“It’s fine, Mr. Zamora. Honestly, I’m not good at much, but I do adapt fast,” Marina said.
Daron just gave a low “Hmm,” not bothering to comment any further.
Marina looked down at her phone to check the time, then said quietly to Daron, “I’ll be in by nine.”
If I head home now, maybe I can squeeze in a quick nap before work,‘ she thought.
Daron pulled up the security feed from his villa, zoomed in, and watched Marina pouting as she left. A faint smile tugged at his lips as he said in a low voice.
“Since you’re already at your post, go ahead and pick out my outfit for today for me,” Daron said.
“I’ll be right back.” With that, Daron hung up.
Marina just stood there, feeling helpless. She glanced at her phone, let out a resigned sigh, and thought to herself, ‘Here we go again! With no other choice, she headed into the walk–in closet to pick out Daron’s clothes for the day.
Once Marina had finished laying out Daron’s clothes and tidying up, he walked in.
As soon as he walked in, he headed straight for the bathroom.
Marina caught a hint of a subtle, expensive cologne on him. It instantly reminded her of the fragrance that always lingered in his office.
Marina arched her brow and couldn’t help but ask, “Mr. Zamora, were you pulling an all–nighter at the office last night?”
Daron murmured a “yeah” and headed into the bathroom.
Marina frowned, puzzled. “Didn’t you say you weren’t working late?”
Daron said, “You wouldn’t have been much help there anyway, so I let you go home and get some rest.”
Daron disappeared into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him.
A subtle look flashed in Marina’s eyes.
‘Seriously, even if I wasn’t much help, did he really have to go through all that trouble. Having the driver take me home after I’d already made it to Zamora Group, just so he could work late? she thought.
Marina pressed her lips together, feeling like Daron had just tugged at her heartstrings, stirring something she couldn’t quite
name.
She took a slow, quiet breath, trying to steady herself and tamp down that sudden rush of emotion.
After Daron finished freshening up, he walked into the closet. Noticing that Marina had set out a business suit for him, he simply reached for his robe instead and said in his usual calm tone,
“Not heading to the office this morning.”

“Huh?” Marina blinked, a little thrown off. Then it hit her that Daron had just pulled an all–nighter, so of course, he was planning to take it easy at home today. She nodded.
“Got it,” she said.
Just as Marina finished speaking, Daron started to undo the belt of his robe, getting ready to change, completely unfazed by the fact that she was still standing right there.
Her eyes went wide for a second. She quickly turned around and hurried out of the walk–in closet.
Daron stood there, glanced at the closed door, and a satisfied smirk curled at his lips.
After changing into his robe, Daron walked out, shot Marina a brief look, and said in his usual calm tone. “Looks like didn’t get much sleep last night either. You can rest here.”
Marina was just about to say no, but Daron interjected before she could get a word out.
“I’m not sure when I’ll wake up, but I want breakfast as soon as I’m up,” he said.
Then he went ahead and requested a few breakfast options for lunch, rattling off everything he felt like eating.
Marina memorized each of his requests, one by one.

Seeing her nod, Daron turned and walked back to his bedroom, stretched out on the bed, leaving the door wide open.
Marina walked over and closed Daron’s bedroom door for him, then glanced down at her phone. It was barely past six.
Since she had no clue when Daron would wake up, Marina just flopped onto the couch, leaned back, and let herself relax for a while.
After Daron settled into bed, he instinctively grabbed his phone and peeked at the security cameras.
Seeing Marina still lounging on the couch, not going anywhere, he finally felt a wave of relief and his brows relaxed.

Daron had said he wanted breakfast as soon as he woke up, and yet she’d ended up falling asleep instead. ‘Great, I was supposed to make breakfast, and I ended up sleeping through it Marina thought, feeling a little guilty.
She’d been out cold, so much so that she hadn’t even realized Daron had come downstairs and tucked her in. ‘How did I not even notice him?‘ she wondered, mortified.
Marina neatly folded the blanket and stood up. When she heard sounds coming from the kitchen, she immediately headed over to see what was going on.
Marina walked in to find Daron in the kitchen, wearing an apron and busy making soup.
Hearing her footsteps, Daron glanced over his shoulder. When he saw Marina coming in, he asked, his voice gentle and caring.
“You’re up?”
