Chapter 265
Daron’s voice and gaze were so calm that it actually annoyed Marina.
She looked up and sank her teeth hard into his firm jaw.
“Like you said, Elnora already sold me to you! So what are you still nagging about? Are you getting old or something?” she snapped.
She couldn’t tell which part of her words made his face change so suddenly, but all the calm and restraint in his eyes vanished instantly.
His gaze grew dark and unfathomable, like a bottomless abyss. He reached up, pried her sharp little teeth off his chin, then leaned down and kissed her. His kiss crashed over her like a wave, threatening to drown her.
The bed was a wreck.
It was two in the morning.
Daron glanced at Marina, who was already drifting off, and scooped her into his arms.
The moment his hand brushed her, she stiffened.
Daron frowned, his cold gaze locked on her, not at all happy about her reflexive rejection.
Marina noticed his displeasure and said awkwardly, “I have work tomorrow.”
Daron shot her a look. “What are you thinking? I’m just taking you to the shower.”
Marina’s cheeks turned red, a flash of embarrassment in her eyes.
“Oh,” she muttered.
Daron lowered his gaze, his voice dropping to a rough murmur. What, still not satisfied?”
Marina shook her head immediately. “Gotta take care of ourselves, can’t go too wild,” she said.
Daron just scoffed. Seeing how tired she was, he carried her into the bathroom, washed her off, and then brought her back to bed.
Marina loved how Daron took care of her. Even after she snuggled under the covers, everything that happened tonight will felt unreal, like she was dreaming.
But after Daron set her down, he didn’t join her in bed. Instead, he turned and walked out of the bedroom.
Marina watched his back as her happiness faded in an instant. Her face fell, disappointment clouding her eyes. In the end she buried herself under the covers, hiding away.
She tried to stifle her sobs, but the quiet crying still slipped out
She kept telling herself, over and over, ‘Don’t be greedy!
This is already more than enough, she told herself.
Daron went downstairs, took his prized vintage from the top of his wine cabinet. A bottle he’d been saving for years. He opened it, poured himself a glass, and sipped it slowly, enjoying very drop.
A subtle smile tugged at his lips as he finished his glass in one scoth motion. Then he took out his phone and made a call.

Chapter 265
Finn had just walked out of the Taylor family’s place.
He’d just dropped Jake off, then had a serious talk with Marcelo, Jake’s dad in the study, reminding him that he was rating high in his career right now, and he shouldn’t let Jake mess it all up.
Even the Milner Family had to tread carefully around Daron these days.
The Taylor family was just clinging to the Milner Family for support. They knew exactly what happened to myse wit pissed off Daron.
That night, Marcelo had his driver take Jake straight to the airport and packed him of abroad, sweating fare vendin’t he back for at least five years.
Finn was pretty satisfied with how tactful Marcelo had been.
By the time he left the Taylors‘, it was already one in the morning
He got back to his place, washed up, and lay down. He’d barely fallen into a deep sleep when Daron’s call joined him avade
With the night’s events still on his mind, Finn patiently picked up the phone.
Daron’s deep voice came through with a clear note of showing off
“I’m getting married,” he announced.
Finn was instantly awake. He turned on the light, checked the time, and yawned.
“Seriously? You’re already hitting me up for wedding cash in the middle of the night?” he grumbled.
Daron snorted. “You’re my best friend. I wanted you to be the first to hear the good news”
Finn clicked his tongue. “Marina’s just too easy to handle. You swoop in like a hero and she’s already wagged and wor finger. Feels a bit like you took advantage of the situation, Mr. Zamora”
“But while she’s easy to please, Elnora’s not so simple. Bet you had to cough up a formune for her, bar
Daron just laughed softly, clearly not bothered at all.
“Thirty percent of the Skyline Project,” Daron replied.
Finn nearly choked.
“Elnora’s move was so ruthless, one more inch and she’d have hitour jugute. How are you will laughing he said
Daron just shrugged. “It’s the bride price for her. Elnora’s not theype to pocket at
Finn grunted. “Yeah, but I bet explaining all this to your old manant goax be easy, he

Hold on, he didn’t even say who the bride is! Is he just milking me for cash? Zachary thought.
But when he called, Daron didn’t pick up.
Zachary was wide awake now, and he immediately called Finn.
Finn snickered when he heard the question, mocking him.
“You handed over the wedding cash without even knowing who the bride is?” Finn mocked.
Zachary mumbled, “Yeah, I was half–asleep, he suddenly asked for money, so I just sent it.”
“So, who’s the bride? Zachary pressed.
Finn snickered. “I have no clue either.”
Since Daron had already wrecked his sleep, Finn figured having someone else to share his insomnia with wasn’t so bad.
Zachary wailed.
“You sent him the wedding money and you don’t even know who the bride is?” Zachary said, incredulous.
Finn just went, “Yeah.”
Zachary wasn’t ready to let it go and jumped in.
“I’m calling Daron right now to get to the bottom of this,” he insisted.
Finn chuckled, playing along. “Sure, you call first, then I’ll call right after. Let’s keep him up all night.”
Zachary was all for it. As soon as he hung up, he called Daron straight away.
Finn glanced at the ended call, snickered, and put his phone away. He had zero intention of actually calling Daron.
Daron had seen this coming and simply put his phone on silent.
He poured himself another glass of red wine, downed it in one gulp, then stood up and went upstairs.
Starting tonight, he wouldn’t be sleeping alone anymore.
He walked up to the bedroom door, and the sound of quiet crying inside made his grip on the doorknob go rigid, a heavy ache squeezing his chest.
Marina heard the noise, peeked out from under the covers, and glanced toward the door, Daron was standing there, blocking the light from the hallway. She couldn’t see his face clearly, so she nervously bit her lip before speaking.
“You didn’t go out?” Marina asked, her voice soft and uncertain.
She really thought he’d gone out.
Daron walked in, his face cold.
“Were you hoping I’d leave?” he asked, his voice cool.
Marina just stared at him and gave a tiny, almost invisible shake of her head.
Daron didn’t see it. He sat down on the edge of the bed, pulled back the covers, and climbed in next to her, his tone lat
“You’d better get used to it. I’m not planning on sleeping apart from my wife,” he said.
