As Eliana was wheeled into the operating room, Nathan felt his heart leap into his throat, anxiety gripping him.
Eliana’s injuries were serious, and the surgery took even longer than Nathan had expected.
But Nathan just stood there, rooted to the spot, not daring to move an inch.
Every time he remembered the sight of Eliana in the warehouse, a wave of indescribable pain twisted in his chest.
Nathan couldn’t even let himself think about what might have happened if he’d been just a moment too late.
Just thinking about it made Nathan slam his fist into the wall, frustration and helplessness boiling over inside him.
His eyes were wild with emotion, but in the end, Nathan forced himself to calm down.
The hours Eliana spent in that operating room felt like pure torture for him.
Irene was safe now, and as soon as she got the news, she immediately rushed over.
Wesley and Sarah came over as well, arriving around the same time.
They didn’t know about Nathan and Eliana’s history, but they knew Nathan, and seeing him there, they looked a little puzzled.
But with everyone worried sick about Eliana, no one felt like prying or asking questions right now.
Sarah stared at the doors to the operating room, tears streaming down her cheeks.
She struggled to speak, “How could this happen? My Eliana never made enemies with anyone. She rarely even gets into arguments. How could someone hate her so much, to put her through something like this?”
Sarah was truly at a loss, and as she spoke, her tears kept falling.
Irene’s heart broke for her, and she quickly wrapped her arms around Sarah, pulling her into a comforting embrace.
Irene had tried to keep it to herself, but seeing Sarah break down like this, she just couldn’t hold back anymore. “Sarah, I don’t want to hide this from you. I really think Logan is behind all of this.”
She continued, “Yesterday, Eliana had just finalized her divorce with him. That night, we were planning to go out and celebrate, but we ran into him at the bar. He grabbed Eliana’s hand and threatened her right there.
“After that, we felt really unsafe, so we didn’t stick around. We called a ride–share to take us home, but the driver who showed up turned out to be a fake.”
Irene felt her nose sting with tears, but she pressed on, “It’s just all way too much of a coincidence.
“If it wasn’t him, I honestly can’t think of anyone else who would know exactly where we were at the bar and want to hurt Eliana.
She added, “But right now, I don’t have any proof. We’ll just have to wait for that guy to wake up. I’m sure we can get some
answers from him.”
As Irene finished speaking, Nathan’s expression turned stormy.
Nathan was grateful, once again, that he’d pulled himself back from the edge and didn’t beat the b’stard senselessly.

But after hearing Irene lay it all out, Nathan already loathed Logan to the bone.

Irene was right. No one else would target Eliana like this, and no one else would know exactly which car Irene was in, or be able to set up a fake driver to take their place ahead of time.
No doubt about it, it was Logan, no one else.
If Logan had the nerve to pull something like this, he’d better brace himself for the consequences.
Nathan had originally thought that once Logan and Eliana divorced, he wouldn’t have any reason to go after Logan
anymore.
But now, Nathan realized he’d been way too soft on Logan.
This time, Nathan was going to make Logan pay for what he’d done, make him pay dearly.
Just as Nathan was steeling himself for what came next, the doors to the operating room suddenly swung open.
Seeing Wesley and Sarah, their eyes swollen and red from crying, rush forward, Nathan could only quietly follow behind them, trailing all the way to Eliana’s room.
At first, Wesley and Sarah were so focused on Eliana that they didn’t even realize Nathan was there.
It wasn’t until evening, when they finally noticed Nathan was still hanging around, that Sarah spoke up, “Mr. Turner, why are you still here?”
Wesley knew Nathan had invested in the Westridge project, so he immediately assumed that was why Nathan was here. He
of quickly reassured him, “Don’t worry, Mr. Turner. The Westridge project is running smoothly and won’t be affected by any this.”
Wesley added, “And since this is a private matter, it won’t be made public, so it won’t cause any issues. You have
my word.”
Seeing Wesley and Sarah totally misunderstanding why he was still hanging around, Nathan honestly didn’t know what to
say.
Luckily, Irene jumped in to explain. “Sarah, Wesley, it’s not what you think. Mr. Turner is actually chasing after Eliana. He’s here because he’s worried about her, and he was the one who found her first and got her out safely today.”
She continued, “You probably don’t know, but we all went to the same high school. Mr. Turner liked Eliana back then, but he went overseas for school, and that’s when they lost touch.
“When he wanted to come back, he found out Eliana was already married, so he was ready to give up. But now that Eliana’s divorced, he wants to go after her again.”
Irene added, “I swear, Nathan’s totally serious about Eliana. He’s been overseas all these years and never had a girlfriend, not even once. The only thing he messed up was not telling Eliana how he felt sooner. Otherwise, how would she ever know?”
After Irene explained everything, Wesley and Sarah finally understood what was going on.
They’d been worried about Eliana ever since her divorce, afraid she’d have a hard time on her own, scared she’d be too hurt to ever open her heart again.
And most of all, they were worried someone might look down on her just because she’d been married before.
But now, knowing that Nathan, someone so exceptional and sincere, truly cared for Eliana, they finally felt relieved.
Nathan listened to Irene’s explanation, feeling deeply grateful. He spoke up. “Wesley, Sarah, you guys should go home and

get some rest. I’ll stay here and keep an eye on Eliana.”
He added, “If she wakes up and sees you both exhausted from worrying, she’ll just feel even more anxious.”

But after hearing Irene’s reassurance, they finally nodded, reminding her to look after Eliana carefully before they headed
