Chapter 252
Avery did not look back. He could no longer stay here.
In the blink of an eye, Raul and Joshua were the only family members left in the Wallen family.

Joshua did not know how to explain to the older man. After hesitating for a long time, he finally went to look for Raul.
“Everyone’s gone?” Raul was sitting up in bed. His hair was disheveled, and his gaze unfocused.
He also wanted to leave Sinderin City.
As a demoted official, it was no longer tenable for him to continue staying in Sinderin City.
Outsiders would trample on him and treat him with utter contempt.
However, he was still a court official, so these people would not dare to kill him.
His reputation, his glory, his authority… Everything he possessed had become nothing more than an ephemeral illusion. He would revert to what he was in his youth, an existence which others would dislike, disdain, and humiliate.
Moreover, with Prince Isander investigating the tax evasion case, he was simply waiting for death by staying here…
In the end, he did not manage to escape that quagmire from years ago. Neither did his sons.
All that glittered was not gold…
Yet, how did Margaery manage to break free from this fate?
She was raised in the same household as the rest of his children. How did she end up on a different path from the rest?
Why did she not encounter all this trouble?
Raul became lost in thought…
Margaery had died once.
Someone who had died before would have experienced an epiphany.
And at this moment, Raul fervently wished that he could start over.
But in the next instant, he realized this was just his own fantasy…
Margaery did not have much time left.
She had two main tasks to carry out today. The first was to meet up with Christina Sutherland and Phillipa Eames to express her gratitude and chit–chat.
The second was to visit Bernard Morales to give thanks.
As for Quinn Thornton, he was part of Dashnell’s circle, so she would refrain from visiting him. After all, such an act might be construed as a breach of etiquette.

It would appear as if she were trying to take charge of Prince Dashnell’s household before even marrying Dashnell. It would be lacking in propriety.
Early in the morning, Margaery got dressed quickly.
She decided to bring along the health supplements sent by Princess Grace last night as gifts. These were fairly ordinary, valuable items. They were presentable enough for gifting, yet common enough to buy outside, so she would not be seen as being disrespectful to Princess Grace.
She had no choice since she was tight on money right now.
Christina Sutherland was the daughter of Lord Sutherland, while Phillipa Eames was the granddaughter of the preceding Lord of Warfare.
Although Phillipa’s grandfather stepped down four years ago, and the position of Lord of Warfare was assigned to Callum Sutherland’s maternal grandfather, Sigurd Salome, this did not affect the Eames family’s status.
Anyway, Phillipa’s grandfather had stepped down due to illness.
On this visit, Margaery thought she would give the old man a checkup and see if she could give him anything to help him feel better.
After all, her master’s medical skills were unparalleled. But a month ago, no one knew.
Margaery wanted to do something for her friend to repay a bit of her kindness.
While pondering over these things, she divided the gifts into three portions. Thereafter, she went out with Amber Stark and Solon Hawke in tow.
Adam Elkins had declined to tag along, as he said it might not be appropriate for such a big group to drop by.
Moreover, his fighting skills were not as good as Solon’s, so he said Solon was the best choice as Margaery’s bodyguard.
Coincidentally, he also had some matters to attend to.
And the four assassins still needed to be coached on etiquette before they could mingle freely among the nobles. Otherwise, trouble might easily arise.
Therefore, these four could not tag along either.
Margaery first went to the Sutherland Estate.
After the attendants reported Margaery’s arrival, Christina rushed out like an arrow and grabbed her guest’s arm.
“I’m so glad you’re all right! I was going to visit you, but my father grounded me. He was adamant that I should not go, as it was not the right time!
“I was only allowed to go out just this morning. In fact, I was getting ready to go visit you!” she gushed.
She then touched Margaery’s face and marveled, “Wow, it’s like you’re reborn! Looks like you won’t need the Pearly Cream 1 have begged so hard from my mother!
“But that’s not a bad thing. I can save it for myself!”
She beamed brightly at her own joke. “Come on, let’s go inside and talk.”

Margaery finally found a chance to speak. “I wanted to come and visit you earlier, but there were too many things going on lately, so I wasn’t able to find the time.”
Christina gave a sigh. “I have heard the news about the Wallen family. I was so angry last night I nearly fainted,”
“Let it go. It’s all in the past now. There’s no need to dwell on it anymore,” Margaery murmured faintly.
The King’s decree had not been announced yet, so Christina did not know that Margaery was about to formally move to the Minister of Personnel’s residence. She tugged at Margaery and said excitedly. “If you have nowhere to go, just come to my house! I can share my bed with you!”
Margaery felt very touched. “Luckily, I have you and Phillipa. Otherwise, in my current situation, I would feel quite lonely. However, I’m afraid I won’t be able to come to your house.”
She smiled at Christina and said softly, “The King has issued a decree for me to move to the Minister’s residence. The day after tomorrow is the ceremony and celebratory feast. After that, I will be officially Marc Carey’s younger sister.
“You like Marc, don’t you? I can help set you two up on date,” she suggested with a smile.
At this point, Christina, who was Margaery’s childhood companion, finally blushed and smiled shyly like a bashful young girl. She did not know what to say at first.
Eventually, she stuttered with some embarrassment, “Er… er… er… Why are you bringing this up? I’m warning you. Don’t tell Marc yet…”
She still didn’t dare to profess her feelings, partly because she feared his rejection.
If Marc didn’t like her, it would be so humiliating if word got out. She would not know how to face him again.
Nonetheless, Christina was genuinely happy for Margaery. “I’m sure you will not suffer at the Carey family. I don’t know about the other family members, but Marc will definitely be a good brother.”
Margaery smiled again. “This afternoon, I’ve arranged to go for a walk in town with Marc. Phillipa will be there too. You hould come along and help me see if there’s anything I need to prepare.”
Christina was surprised to hear this. “Oh? You invited him too?”
Yes, we agreed on it the last time we met. Before I came, I already had someone send him a message.” Margaery explained.
Margaery also felt that Marc would make a good husband.
She genuinely wanted to help Christina and Marc get together.
Therefore, she had specifically invited Marc this time.
Christina’s face turned as red as an apple. “Th–then I have to get the approval of my father and mother. If they agree, I’ll go with you.”
Outside the door, a guard reported, “My lady, General Marc Carey is outside asking to see Miss Margaery,
Christina’s heart started racing. “Then go inform my father! Why are you telling m–me?”
she was practically stammering. Her voice did not sound intimidating at all.
The guard simply smiled and went to inform Lord Sutherland.

Christina’s heart fluttered nervously, and her palms were sweating from anxiety.
Margaery went to the front courtyard with a smile, where she bumped into Lord and Lady Sutherland.

“Greetings, Lord Sutherland! Greetings, Lady Sutherland! Lady Sutherland, thank you very much for the medicine you bestowed upon me the last time. I have come especially to express my gratitude.” Margaery bowed and curtsied respectfully as she said this.
“Why are you being so formal, my child?” Lady Sutherland told her to rise. Then she sized Margaery up thoughtfully. “Hmm. You look perfectly fine. Indeed, with Dashnell watching over you, I didn’t think you would be that foolish.”
Margaery couldn’t help but smile.
Lady Sutherland and Dashnell’s mother, Lady Serena, grew up together and had a close relationship. This was why she spoke about Dashnell like she was talking about her own child.
Lord Sutherland laughed out loud. “I happen to be heading to the palace. You two can go inside and chat. I’ll receive General Carey on my way out.”
Margaery nodded and followed Lady Sutherland into the manor.
Just as they sat down, Marc arrived. He greeted the ladies with a bow. “Greetings, Your Graces.”
“General Carey, please rise. Have a seat.” Lady Sutherland beamed at him and asked, “What brings you here today, General Carey?”
