Caught off guard by so many eyes on her, Eliana quickly forced a smile and looked at Maria. “Thank you, Maria.”
Sarah chimed in, “She really does look great, so fresh and lively. But honestly, she looks good with just a touch of makeup, too. My daughter is beautiful no matter what.”
Wesley couldn’t help but laugh. “You really know how to boast, Sarah. We’ve got a guest.”
“I’m just telling the truth,” Sarah said, turning to Nathan. “Nathan, you agree, right?“.
“Mom!” Eliana hadn’t expected Sarah to go and ask Nathan. She was truly at a loss and quickly spoke up.
But Nathan replied earnestly, “Yes, Mrs. Branson. Eliana truly is beautiful.”
Nathan added, “Honestly, she’s the most beautiful person I’ve ever met.”.
It might’ve sounded a bit exaggerated at first, but the way he said them, so utterly serious, made it impossible to think he was just flattering her.
He genuinely seemed to be answering Sarah’s question, and you could tell he meant every word.
And the way he did things without even trying always managed to tug at Eliana’s heartstrings.
Sarah, standing nearby, looked genuinely pleased with his answer. “Nathan, you really know how to say the right thing.”
“Come on, Nathan, have some breakfast. I made you some warm milk to help you feel better,” Sarah said.
Watching Sarah grow warmer and more attentive toward Nathan, Eliana couldn’t help but be surprised. She had to admit, Nathan really had a knack for charming her folks.
It was impressive how, in such a short time, he’d already gotten both her mom and dad to warm up to him.
Looking back, even after years of being married to Logan, her parents had never warmed up to him like this.
But honestly, it wasn’t her parents‘ fault, Logan had never bothered to connect with her family.
At that time, Logan was extremely arrogant and didn’t think much of her parents at all.
Just thinking about how she’d spent all those years with a guy like that, Eliana couldn’t even understand who she used to be
anymore.
She wondered just how desperate for love she must’ve been back then, to stay trapped in something so toxic, refusing to walk away.
Seriously, what on earth was there about him that was worth her holding on to so reluctantly?
Eliana steadied herself, about to step forward, but when she looked up, she found Nathan watching her.
His gaze carried a hint of an ability to see straight through people, making Lin Wanning feel a trace of unease at that
moment.
Nathan just gave her a thoughtful glance, said nothing, and took his seat at the table.
Everyone was in great spirits over breakfast.

After breakfast, Nathan and Eliana were off to work, so they headed out together.

Halfway there, Nathan glanced over and saw Eliana gazing out the window, completely lost in her own world. He just decided to pull the car over to the side of the road.
Eliana’s eyes went wide with surprise as she turned to look at him. “What’s wrong?”
“Who were you thinking about before breakfast?” Nathan finally blurted out.
He’d already figured it out from the way she looked so distracted and spaced out earlier.
But with Wesley and Sarah right there, he hadn’t wanted to come off as jealous or petty.
He figured once they got in the car, she’d warm up to him a bit, but nope, Eliana just kept staring out the window, silent the whole ride. That little pang of jealousy inside Nathan just kept simmering.
Logan had treated her like crap, and yet the thought of her still spacing out over that guy made Nathan’s jealousy burn even hotter.
When Nathan asked her that, Eliana knew for sure, he was definitely jealous.
She really hadn’t expected Nathan to get all worked up over something like this, and she burst out laughing.
Nathan couldn’t help but frown slightly. “Seriously, you still have the nerve to laugh.”
“Why not?” Eliana teased, looking him straight in the eye. “Wait, are you jealous?”
As she asked that, she couldn’t help letting out another soft laugh.
But the next second, when Nathan leaned in closer, Eliana’s smile froze. She quickly tried to change the subject. “I haven’t even mentioned it yet, why didn’t you go back to your own room last night? What if my parents or Maria had caught you?”
“Then I’d just marry you right away, and we could share a room,” Nathan replied.
Eliana was stunned by how bold he was.
Seriously, this guy’s skin is thicker than anyone else, no one can compete with his level of shamelessness.
“Who said I was going to marry you?” Eliana retorted, clearly annoyed.
But Nathan leaned in even closer, his eyes serious. “If you’re not marrying me, then who else could you possibly marry?
As he said this, Nathan gently pinched her chin, his voice firm and possessive. “Eliana, you’re only allowed to marry me. For the rest of your life”
His words were domineering yet sincere, and for some reason, Eliana felt a little moved.
Not wanting to let her feelings show, she turned her head away from his hand and shot back playfully. You can’t be so sure about that…”
But before she could finish, Nathan grabbed her by the back of the head and claimed her lips in a kiss, cutting her off mid-
sentence.
Eliana was stunned for a moment, and he just kissed her even harder, drawing her closer.
After a long moment, seeing Eliana’s eyes all hazy and unfocused, Nathan felt that familiar heat in his chest start burning all

over again.
But with traffic picking up and cars crowding around them, he had to stop for now.
Looking at her smudged makeup, Nathan felt like it was kindling to the fire raging inside him.
The way her hair and makeup were all tousled was almost too much for him to resist.
After taking a moment to steady herself, Eliana pulled down the passenger–side mirror to check her reflection.
Seeing her ruined makeup, she gritted her teeth and snapped, “Nathan!”
“Hmm, you want more?” Nathan is already merging back into traffic.
Hearing the annoyance in her voice, he shot her a sideways glance and spoke up.
“How am I supposed to show my face like this?” Eliana huffed, clearly annoyed.
As she complained, she started fixing her makeup, trying to salvage her look.

‘I honestly didn’t mean to mess up your makeup, but you just had to push my buttons,” Nathan grumbled, his own irritation showing.
“Listen up, Eliana. I’m stuck on you for life. If you even think about liking another guy, I’ll watch him and make his life miserable. Let’s see who dares to go after you,” Nathan said.
Eliana couldn’t help but laugh at his childish threat. She turned to him and teased, “Seriously, Nathan, how old are you?”
Nathan snorted. “I’m dead serious. When I say ‘anyone else,‘ I mean even Logan Eliot.”
‘If you want to fight for custody, I’ll help you all the way. But if you even think about picking up that loser Logan Eliot again, I’ll tie your hands behind your back myself,” Nathan added.
Eliana listened to him say all that with a straight face and couldn’t help but giggle again.
Honestly, he wasn’t wrong, Logan Eliot really was a total loser.
If she ever took him back, even she wouldn’t be able to respect herself.
Thinking about it, Eliana studied Nathan and suddenly realized that when he got angry, he still looked just like he had ten years ago. For a moment, it felt as if she had been thrown back into the past, leaving her slightly dazed.
