As Eliana said that, Nathan’s smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly covered it up and responded, “You mean how he looked all roughed up on the morning news?”
“I just saw it too. Why do you think I was behind it?” he said.
Nathan quickly composed himself, sounding casual.
He even chuckled. “Honestly, that guy’s pretty annoying. I’m sure there are plenty of people who’d love to knock him around. So why’d you suspect me right away, Eliana? That’s not cool of you.”
But Eliana couldn’t even crack a smile at Nathan’s flippant attitude.
She spoke seriously, “Nathan, I’m not joking with you. I’m not blaming you or anything, I’m just worried about you.”
“Nothing stays secret forever. If you really did it, what if someone talks?” she said.
“It’s just not worth it to take such a risk for a guy like that. Do you get what I mean?” she added.
Eliana sounded anxious, but on the other end, Nathan’s smile just got even bigger.
“So, you’re actually worried about me, huh?” Nathan said.
“Come on, don’t stress. I’m still waiting for you to say you’ll marry me, I’wouldn’t do anything that stupid and mess it all up.” he smiled.
“Just relax, okay?” he added.
Even though Nathan was still joking around, Eliana actually took his words to heart.
Hearing him say that, she trusted he could handle it, so she didn’t press him any further.
Just as she was about to hang up, Nathan suddenly got serious. “Hey, let’s hit the bar tonight. It’s the official opening, and the boss lady herself has to make an appearance.”
When he called her the boss lady and mentioned the bar, Eliana’s heart skipped a beat,
She agreed right away, “Sure, see you tonight.”
“Alright, I’ll come pick you up,” Nathan said, his voice carrying a hint of affection.
“Okay, Eliana replied, and hung up
But even after she hung up, Eliana couldn’t help but think Nathan was the one who did it.
He could deny it all he wanted, no one had any proof anyway.
And honestly, Logan totally had it coming.
Just thinking about how dirty he played against her, Eliana felt like the beating he got was way too mild, he totally deserved
worse.
If it weren’t such a waste to get herself in trouble over a jerk like him, Eliana would’ve gladly had someone beat him up good.

All he wanted was a divorce, but he was hell–bent on ruining his ex–wife for good. The guy was downright scary with how cruel he was.
Thinking about those six years she’d poured her heart and soul into, Eliana felt even more choked up inside.
With that thought, Eliana couldn’t help but click on the link again, taking her time to savor the sight of Logan all beaten up.
Seeing him all bruised and battered, Eliana felt a kind of satisfaction she couldn’t even put into words.
No matter who did it, she was honestly grateful to them.
Meanwhile, Logan had to stay in the operating room for what felt like forever before he was finally wheeled out.
He had multiple fractures, and even breathing was pure agony.
By his bedside, Hannah and Aurora were in tears the whole time.
Once the anesthesia wore off, Logan was hurting like hell.
Their crying just made it all ten times worse.
Listening to them sob and bombard him with questions about what happened, Logan was about to lose it. His mind couldn’t. help but wander back to Eliana.
He remembered that time he crashed his motorcycle trying to blow off steam, he was seriously messed up. Eliana didn’t waste words or fuss, just quietly took care of him.
She knew the pain would hit hard once the anesthesia wore off, so she did everything she could to help with it. She understood he was struggling inside, too, so when he needed silence, she stayed quiet and gave him space. But if he ever asked her anything, she’d answer every little question patiently and in detail.
Hannah and Aurora, though? Just hearing them cry nonstop made him feel like he was about to lose it.
After holding back for ages, Logan finally lost it. “Will you two quit bawling? I’m not dead yet! What, are you here to mourn me or something?”
“I’m hurting all over, and your crying is seriously driving me crazy,” he said.
“Just get out, both of you. Go find a caretaker or something, I don’t need you hanging around,” he added.
As soon as Logan snapped at them, Aurora stopped crying on the spot, frozen in place. She shot a cautious look at Hannah.
She honestly never thought Logan would snap at them like that.
Hannah was left frozen, just as shocked.
But after a few seconds, she just started bawling even louder.
“Yeah, I’m useless, I get it. Your own mother can’t do anything right in your eyes. I’m not even as good as a hired nurse
Hannah sobbed.
“Fine, I’ll go. I’ll leave you alone,” she said.
With that, Hannah stood up and walked out.
Aurora shot Logan a frown and said, “What’s with you, Logan? Mom’s just worried sick about you, why are you so pissed off

“Just leave!” Logan yelled at Aurora, the pain making him too irritable to put up with their drama.
Aurora jumped, tears welling up in her eyes. She shot to her feet. “Fine, I’m leaving! Like I actually want to stick around here and babysit you.”
“You don’t even know who beat you up, and you’ve got the guts to take it out on us? We haven’t even called you out for making the Eliot family look bad,” she yelled.
As soon as Aurora said that, Logan snapped. He grabbed a pillow and hurled it at her.
Aurora barely dodged the pillow, then turned and stormed out of the hospital room.
Once they were both out, Logan hunched over, clutching himself as the pain twisted through him.
Just tossing that pillow at Aurora made his wounds flare up, and the agony was so excruciating it felt like it was stabbing straight through his bones.
Logan thought things would get better with a professional nurse around, but as soon as she started, he realized he’d been way too optimistic.
Her care couldn’t even hold a candle to how Eliana used to look after him.
He kept asking her to do things, but she just kept messing it up. After a while, Logan gave up trying.
Honestly, nobody else could ever measure up to Eliana when it came to taking care of him.
He hadn’t cherished her when he had the chance, he totally brought this on himself.
As those thoughts swirled in his mind, Logan suddenly found himself missing Eliana more than ever.
But when Logan thought about how narrow–minded he’d been and all the things he’d done to her, his chest tightened with guilt.
He couldn’t even explain why he did it, maybe he just wanted to smear Eliana’s name, hoping she’d have nowhere else to go but back to him.
Now, just remembering it made him feel even worse.
Good thing that person didn’t succeed, otherwise, forget facing Eliana, he wouldn’t even be able to face himself.
Lost in his thoughts, Logan just couldn’t hold back anymore, he grabbed his phone and called Eliana.
