It wasn’t until the automated message played that Logan finally realized, she’d blocked him ages ago.
Logan let out a quiet sigh, the bitterness in his eyes so strong it was almost overflowing.
“Mr. Eliot, is something wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” the caregiver asked.
She’d just come back with some water and saw Logan sitting there with his head down, so she asked gently.
The Eliot family paid her well, so even if Logan was difficult at times, she made sure to take good care of him.
Seeing him looking a bit off, she didn’t hesitate and asked right away, her voice filled with genuine concern.
Hearing the caregiver’s voice, it suddenly clicked for Logan. He asked, his tone serious, “Can I borrow your phone for a minute?”
The caregiver was stunned for a moment, then quickly nodded. “Sure, of course!”
As she spoke, she pulled her phone out of her pocket.
She handed it to Logan, and as he snatched it up, she found herself watching him, her eyes full of suspicion.
But Logan didn’t bother with her at all. He just grabbed the phone and quickly dialed Eliana’s number.
This time, the call finally got through.
“Hello?” It was Eliana.
When her voice came through the line, Logan found himself strangely reluctant to let it go. But he didn’t dare say a word, because he knew all too well that the moment he spoke, she would hang up immediately.
Right now, he just wanted to listen to her for a bit longer.
But after Eliana said hello a few times and still got nothing but silence, she hung up anyway.
The moment he heard the call disconnect, Logan felt a hollow ache in his chest, he was truly lost.
He gripped the caregiver’s phone, thinking over and over about calling her again, but after a long moment of hesitation, he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.
“Mr. Eliot, uh, my phone,” the caregiver prompted.
It wasn’t until the caregiver spoke that Logan snapped back to reality. He looked at her and said. Just call her and chat with her for a bit. I’ll pay you
“If you can get her to talk for a minute, that’s a hundred bucks. The longer you keep her on the line, the more you earn,” he
added.
The caregiver’s eyes went wide, she couldn’t believe her luck. “Really, Mr. Elor? Can I really say anything)
“Yeah, as long as I can hear her talking, Logan replied.
The caregiver nodded right away. “Okay, I’ll call her now, right now!”

With that, she dialed Eliana’s number.
When she saw the same number calling again, Eliana couldn’t help but feel a bit suspicious.
But since the phone just kept ringing, she answered anyway, worried it might be something important.
“Hello? Who’s this?” Eliana asked.
This time, the moment Eliana spoke up, someone finally answered back on the other end.
“Hey, could you maybe stay on the line and chat with me for a while?” the caregiver asked.

“I honestly don’t know what to do right now. I just called a random number, and everyone else just ignored me. You’re the only one who actually picked up. Can you just listen to me for a bit?” the caregiver said.
Hearing the voice on the other end, Eliana furrowed her brows. “Did something happen?”
Since Eliana didn’t hang up, the caregiver realized her trick was working and immediately started venting about how unfair and difficult her life was.
As she listened, Eliana quietly picked up the landline and dialed 911. She muted her phone’s mic, put it on speaker, and spoke into the landline, “Hello, I just got a call from someone who sounds like they might be suicidal.
“I’m trying to keep her talking and calm her down. Can you trace the number and send someone over as soon as possible?
“The number is…”
Once she heard the police confirm they’d send help, Eliana finally let out a sigh of relief and hung up the landline.
Meanwhile, the caregiver on the other end was starting to get impatient after waiting so long for Eliana to respond. She kept saying, “Hello? Are you even listening to me?
“Hello? Are you just going to ignore me, too?” she asked.
“Is there really not a single kind person left in this world?” she kept talking.
Thinking about how she might lose out on the money she was about to earn, the caregiver started getting anxious, her words tumbling out faster and faster.
Eliana finally spoke up. I’m here, but the signal’s a bit spotty. Go ahead, I’m still listening”
Once Eliana spoke up, the caregiver kept chatting away nonstop.
As she kept talking, trying to get Eliana to open up more, she asked, “What about you? Have you ever had anything really tough happen to you? You can tell me if you want?
“Getting stuck with the wrong people, does that count? Eliana replied seriously, still waiting for the police to find her.
“I’ve been married for six years, but my husband doesn’t love me. Even my own son doesn’t love me! she went on
“They’re always talking about boundaries, even though they’re supposed to be my closest family. They make me tiptoe around them, never letting me get close. But when it comes to another woman, suddenly all those boundaries pist disappear.”
“Don’t you think that’s just sad?” Eliana said.

Chapter 150
Hearing Eliana say that, Logan’s face drained of all color, he looked like he’d just been punched in the gut.

He desperately wanted to jump in and defend himself, but he forced himself to stay silent, just giving the caregiver a stiff
nod.
The caregiver knew she had found the right angle and went on, “Your husband is a total scumbag. Seriously, that’s messed up.”
“So, how are you holding up now? Are you okay?” she asked.
“Yeah, I’m doing great now. I’m divorced,” Eliana said, and you could hear the relief in her voice.
“Good for you! You should’ve dumped him a long time ago,” the caregiver said.
“Respect, seriously. Six years with a guy like that? That takes guts,” she added.
“That’s just how it is, kids pick up on how adults treat you. If no one around you shows you respect, your son’s just gonna follow their lead,” the caregiver said.
Eliana let out a bitter laugh. “Yeah.”
Even a random stranger could see the truth, but Logan just played dumb for five whole years.
This lady was spot on, Eliana must’ve had her eyes closed to put up with Logan for six years.
Eliana thought she was done, but the caregiver on the other end of the line suddenly became interested and asked seriously. “Is there anything else? Anything besides your relationship troubles that you want to talk about?”
Hearing the caregiver sound a little more hopeful, like she’d found a reason to hold on, Eliana took a deep breath and said, “There’s one more thing. It happened five years ago.”
“My ex–husband was on a business trip overseas when a terrorist attack happened. I didn’t think twice, I dropped everything and flew out there,” Eliana said.
“I searched for him for what felt like forever, pushing through wreckage and flames, until I finally found him trapped in a car, she continued.
“He was badly hurt, barely hanging on. I used every ounce of strength I had to carry him out of that car,” Eliana said.
“But I was pregnant at the time, pretty far along, and I just couldn’t take it anymore, I blacked out,” she finished.
