Marina hadn’t seen Daron yet today, so she had no idea just how grim his expression was.

Seeing Marina stay silent, Bette didn’t push the topic. She simply picked up the gift bag from the sofa and handed it over.
“This is for you,” Bette said.
“Even though you and Daron can’t announce your marriage yet, you’re still his wife. If the truth ever comes out, I want you two to look great together in the photos.”
Marina didn’t make a fuss and just took the clothes from Bette.
Her suit matched Daron’s, and they were both black.
A black suit was quite common and wouldn’t arouse any suspicion.
Marina didn’t mind at all.
Besides the suit, there was also an evening gown.
The Zamora Group’s annual gala was divided into two phases.
The morning featured formal meetings, while the evening was all about a relaxed party.
The party took place at the Zamora family’s estate.
The guest list included top managers and outstanding employees from the Zamora Group, as well as distinguished guests from prominent families.
Internal competition at the Zamora Group was intense. Almost everyone hoped to use the company as a stepping stone to move up in society.
After all, this path could really lead to success.
When Daron walked in, towel–drying his hair, his face didn’t look good.
He looked like he hadn’t slept a wink last night. Tiredness etched into his features, and his eyes were icy enough to send a chill down anyone’s spine.
Bette knew better than to mess with him when he was in this kind of mood, so she didn’t bother him. As soon as he walked in, she turned to Marina.
‘Go ahead and change. I’ll step out for a bit,” Bette said.
With that, she headed for the door, closing the walk–in closet behind her.
Marina froze for a few seconds, thinking about leaving with Bette, but Daron, still in his bathrobe and looking stone–faced ordered, ‘Dry my hair”
She stopped in her tracks, grabbed the hair dryer from the closet, and murmured. Is the stylist not coming today?
Marina glanced at the clock, and it was almost six.
Normally, the stylist would be here by now

Daron looked up at her, his tone cool.
“What, now you don’t even want to dry my hair? Didn’t you always insist you were so responsible?”
Marina was at a loss for words.
She realized she shouldn’t have asked at all, so she quietly walked over and started drying his hair.
She made a mess of his hair on purpose, just ruffling it with the dryer, not even trying to make it neat.
Daron seemed to catch on to her little act of payback and shot her a look.
As he turned, his short black hair flopped down, half–covering his eyebrows.

Maybe it was the fresh scent from his shower, but for a second, Marina could almost see the college version of him.
Her hand paused for a second, and then she switched off the dryer.
Daron took the dryer from her, ran it through his hair a couple times, then handed it right back to her.
Marina took the dryer back, noticing his hair was still pretty damp.
“Seriously, you’re just going to leave it like this?” she asked.
Daron replied, “The stylist will be here soon.”
Marina was stunned.
‘So he made me do all that when the stylist’s coming anyway? What’s his deal?‘ she grumbled to herself.
Daron shot her a look and started shrugging off his bathrobe.
Marina quickly turned to put the dryer away, and once she’d set it back in its place, she said softly, “You should…”
But Daron, who seemed to be on a roll with bossing her around today, cut her off before she could finish.
“Get my clothes,” he said, his tone low and commanding.
Marina was stunned.
“Aren’t your clothes right there?”
Daron shot back, “Weren’t you just saying you were so responsible?”
He was totally throwing her words from yesterday right back at her.
Marina suddenly regretted ever bringing up the whole “treating marriage like a job‘ thing in front of Daron
She took a deep breath, walked over to the rack, grabbed Daron’s shirt, and handed it to him
But Daron didn’t take the shirt. Instead, he just looked down at her, all superior, making it clear he expected her to do more.
“Is this how you treat your work?”
Marina stared at the shirt in her hands, feeling like it was burning up.

Is he seriously expecting me to dress him?‘ she thought, her mind jumping to the obvious conclusion.
That idea had barely formed before Daron’s indifferent voice broke the silence.
Put it on me,” he said, his voice flat.
Marina looked up at him, caught off guard by his commanding tone.
but the first thing she saw was his toned chest, muscles sharply outlined.
Her breath caught in her throat.
Daron saw her just standing there and prompted her impatiently.
Didn’t you say you were super dedicated? What, can’t even do this?”
Marina gritted her teeth and started putting the shirt on him.

.ven though the view was seriously tempting, his attitude was so irritating that it killed any interest she might’ve had.
he slipped the shirt onto him, then stepped up and started buttoning it for him.
Daron stood there like royalty, not even bothering to move a muscle.
The bathrobe was draped around his waist, half undone.
Once she finished buttoning his shirt, Marina reached out to undo the bathrobe at his waist.
is she undid the bathrobe, her fingertips brushed against Daron’s skin.
Daron’s body instantly tensed up.
ust as Marina was about to remove the bathrobe, Daron suddenly grabbed her hand.
Marina looked up at him, meeting his deep, intense gaze. There was something in his eyes she couldn’t quite fathom.
Mr. Zamora, why are you holding my hand? I’m about to help you change your pants,” she said.
is she spoke, she stared him straight in the eye, her gaze steady and professional, like she was just doing her job.
Jaron was visibly irritated by her words. He stared at her for a few seconds, then let go of her hand.
Fine, go ahead,” he said, his tone challenging.
He clearly didn’t think Marina would actually go through with it.
But Marina just nodded and, without missing a beat, pulled the bathrobe off him.
Daron froze, his body instantly tense.
Marina didn’t bat an eye. She grabbed his suit pants from the rack, straightened them, and bent down
She actually looked like she was about to help him put them on
But Daron suddenly snatched the pants from her, his voice cold.

“Get out!” he barked.
Marina nodded lightly. “Yes, Mr. Zamora.”
She turned and walked out of the closet.

As Marina stepped out of the closet, she found Bette waiting right outside. There wasn’t a hint of awkwardness in Bette’s eyes. She looked nothing but admiring.
Bette shot Marina a big thumbs–up, her praise totally unfiltered.
“Impressive.”
