Chapter 79
I quickly took the basket from him and watched him pick up
another duffle bag. What did he even have in those bags? He closed
the trunk and locked the Jeep.
“We’re going on that path there” he pointed to the first one.
I nodded and started to walk towards it. Blake was right behind me.
The path was clear and easy to walk on but it was getting dark. I
slowed down a little just in case I did stumble.
“Keep going Angel, I’ll tell you if there’s anything in your way”
“It’s getting dark Blakey. How are you going to see anything if I
can’t?”
“Just trust me, please. Keep going. This path is usually very clear”
I sighed and carried on at my normal pace. He was trying to get me
killed out here. I should’ve have for back to the apartment and
changed my shoes when he said off road.
After about 10mins of walking, I could hear running water. Few
more steps and a clearing came into view. There was a lake in the

middle of the clearing that had a little waterfall. The lake was
surrounded by trees and had rocks sitting on the banks. I hadn’t
realised it but it looked like it was going to be a full moon. The moon
was still quite low at the moment. Its white rays had just started to
shine on the lake.
I stopped and just gawked at the surroundings. It was beautiful.
“This way Angel,” Blake said.
I turned the way he said and there on the banks of the lake sat a
table with 2 chairs. There were tiki torches already lit around the
table with a little bonfire burning.
Blake walked up to the table and put the bags on the ground. He opened one of the bags and pulled out a table cloth and placed it on the table. He pulled out plates and 2 plastic wine glasses and put
them on the table.
“Can I please have that basket, Angel?”
I took him the basket and he placed it on the table.
“I’m sorry, it’s nothing fancy.” He said as he pulled out sandwiches
and a salad. “Just thought it was going to be the easiest to carry.” He pulled out a bottle of wine and closed the basket.

I smiled at his arrangements. I walked up to him and wrapped my
arms around his belly from the back and pressed my face to his back.
“This is amazing. Thank you”
He turned around and pulled me into his arms.
“Anything for you Angel. However, I do have another motive in
bringing you here, so maybe save the thank you’s until after. Sit?”
He had other motives? The boy had already proposed and confessed
his admiration for me. What was left?
I sat on the empty chair and he sat in front of me opening the
bottle of wine and poured it into the glasses. I grabbed a sandwich
that said chicken salad on it.
“Mum got the sandwiches made and dad brought them over for me
today when he came over. That’s why I had to go to the office” he
placed the glass in front of me.
I knew there was a reason he rushed off to the office. What was so
important that Nate had to come to Mariners Bay for? I knew I
couldn’t ask Blake because he had told me that certain things about work we wouldn’t talk about so that we could keep our relationship and work life separate.

I kept my mouth shut and just started eating.
“This is so yum” I took another bite of the sandwich. It was really
good.
Blake just smiled and stared at me. His smile wasn’t reaching his
eyes though. Oh lord, what was wrong?
“What’s going on? Your acting a little strange”
He chuckled “Can you keep an open mind?” I nodded.
“There’s something I need to tell you. You and I are getting married
and I don’t want there to be any secrets between us and I’m sorry I’ve
kept this from you for so long.”
Oh dear lord! What was he hiding?
