MATED TO THE VAMPIRE KING SON
Chapter 91
Damien’s POV
This was the largest dinner crowd I’d ever sat with the nobles on my
right and the werewolves on my left. It had been over a week since
the werewolves and nobles arrived at the castle, and it had been a
stressful week.
The table was bursting with loud noise and chatter, mostly from the
werewolves‘ side as they ate. Freda sat beside me in silence as she
watched everybody and ate her meal.
“These species surely don’t recognize table manners.” My uncle
whispered in my ear.
I rolled my eyes because he was right. It irritated me to hear that much chatter at the dining table. They were all talking at the same time. I wasn’t the only one irritated, Lord Balen shushed them before
I could say anything.
“It’s difficult to train dogs, but I have no choice since you’re at the
table. Be silent!”
Freda’s father took it to heart and countered him. They bickered on

and on. Somehow it amused me watching Lord Balen get frustrated
and Winston get riled. I heard Freda sigh loudly, and I knew it was
time to end it.
“Both of you, enough.” I said, suddenly feeling bored. “I won’t have
you disrespect me further. The purpose of this dinner isn’t to call
each other dogs and pests. It’s for a different reason. So sit, let us
address that reason, and retire to bed.”
Freda’s father Winston and Lord Balen quietly sat back down.
Lady Daphne had a smile on her face, and so did Duke Magnus. I
didn’t know why, but I asked no questions. I was tired and wanted to
be in my bed with Freda in my arms.
I turned to look at her, and my chest rose with pride. Soon, she was
going to be mine in every sense.
“Quit staring.” I heard her mutter.
I chuckled. I rested my back on the chair and dropped my hands on
the table well, one hand. The other went to Freda’s thigh as I stroked
my fingers on her bare skin.
The dress she wore had a slit on the right side, and it hugged her
perfectly. I’d argued about her wearing it, but apparently, it was what

Kara thought best.
“Duke Magnus, I’m placing you in charge of the crowns. You shall
oversee the crowning on that day. Lady Daphne and Elara will see to
the availability and provisions of whatever food is to be shared that
day not just to the nobles but to all commoners in the kingdom.
Everybody must feast and be merry, as it’s going to be a happy day.”
My whole hand was now flat, rubbing Freda’s thighs up and down.
“Marquess Theo.” I said.
He looked at me from the corner of his eyes. I never would
understand him.
“Your Highness.” He responded, his voice sharp and bold–unlike him.
“You shall be in charge of arranging the invitations for the new
guests. Each of your houses is permitted to come with followers, and
Marquess Theo will see to their seating arrangements.”
“Baron Rhys-”
“All I hear is Lord this, Lord that. Why are we here if we’re not going
to be involved in this discussion?” Winston interrupted my sentence.

I frowned.
“Just because we’re not invested in this union doesn’t mean you
should ignore us. It’s very disrespectful for a king not to include the
members of his table.” He said again.
My frown deepened. I wasn’t ready to respond to him, but Freda felt I
was going to lash out. She put her hand on mine the one holding her
thigh and I sighed.
“Alpha Winston, there’s no need to be rude. You and your people
never showed interest in overseeing the affairs of the coronation
ceremony. How was I supposed to know you were interested in the
preparation?”
My eyes wandered from his as I stared at every presence at the table
from the werewolf side. None of them could say anything. I stared at
the bald man who’d caused a stir on the day of their arrival by
challenging me to a duel. I expected him to act defiantly and try to
say something, but he bowed his head and went back to his meal.
“We just want to be a part of something.” Freda’s father said.
I smiled. It was the first time he sounded calm and normal.
“What then are your people interested in?”

I asked calmly.
“Security.” He said.
I frowned. Did he deem my guards unworthy of offering maximum
security?
“Hmm.”
“We werewolves are very good hunters. I’m not saying the vampires
aren’t, but we track people faster with scent. We don’t have to do all
the guard duty just put some of us on guard duty too. I’ve brought
warriors from my kingdom, and they’d be of good use. I know your
people haven’t fully accepted my daughter yet, and I don’t want
anybody trying to do something foolish on that day. So I’m doing this
for my daughter’s protection and nothing more.”
I smiled, very pleased. “Fine. Baron Rhys will see to deploying your
men at strategic positions around the castle walls.”
With that, everybody went on with their meal. I’d been done with
mine for a while, so I just sat there watching Freda eat. She was beautiful even under the dim dining light, and she was mine,
Dinner was over, and everybody cleared out of the dining room.

“King Damien.” Lady Daphne called my attention the moment I rose
to my feet.
“Yes.”
“A moment, please.”
I turned to Freda. “It’s fine. I’ll just take a walk with Kara and meet
you back at the chambers.”
I nodded, following Daphne to a corner.
