Chapter 392
Marina didn’t linger on Zara for long. She headed straight for her own desk.
She sat down at her workstation. Not long after, Zara came over and took the seat across from her.
Once Zara sat down, she greeted Marina with a bright smile.
Ms. Finley, so you’re the one sitting across from me. Hope we get along.” Zara said.
As she spoke, Zara stood up and reached out her hand to Marina, making it obvious she wanted a handshake.
But Marina looked away from Zara, fired up her computer, and didn’t even acknowledge Zara’s outstretched hand.
Zara’s smile stiffened, and she awkwardly pulled her hand back.
Calista Rollins, sitting beside Zara, saw her get snubbed by Marina and muttered under her breath. “What’s with the attitude?”
Zara is Daron’s sister. What makes Marina think she’s so special? Calista thought.
Calista was ticked off by Marina’s attitude.
Bella, sitting next to Marina, glanced at Zara, then at Marina, and finally lowered her head and got back to work.
Anyone who crossed Marina the last time got fired by Daron.
Word was, those three still hadn’t found jobs. They’d graduated from top schools, but couldn’t land anything in Vrufield, so they had to slink back to their hometowns with their tails between their legs.
It was obvious that Marina and Daron had something special going on.
Bella didn’t want to get caught up in all that drama, so she kept her mouth shut.
Some of the seniors in the office knew about Daron standing up for Marina before, but none of them stepped in to say anything to Calista.
Obviously, nobody wanted to stir up trouble.
And nobody wanted to play the good guy either.
Zara gently tugged Calista’s hand, signaling her to keep quiet.
Calista pressed her lips together and kept quiet.
She didn’t know what kind of background Marina had, but since she got into the Zamora Group through connections Calista figured she couldn’t afford to mess with her.
Still, Calista always thought she had Zara on her side. Since this was the Zamora Group, if she ever clashed with Marma Zara would definitely have her back. That made her feel a little too confident.
But Calista had worked her way up from the bottom, so she knew how things worked.
Seeing everyone in the office stay silent and not pay much attention to the situation, Calista imally calmed down.

Zara stopped trying to chat with Marina and threw herself into her work.
As lunchtime rolled around, Marina ordered lunch for Daron.
Marina happened to be in the restroom when the delivery guy arrived.
Seeing this, Zara got up and headed over to the delivery guy.
She noticed the logo on the delivery bag was from Daron’s favorite restaurant, so she went ahead and took the delivery herself.
“Hi, you can give it to me,” Zara said.
The delivery guy handed the food over to her.
Calista leaned in and exclaimed, “Wait, Zara, is all that for you? That’s so much food!”
Zara smiled and said softly, “It’s not for me. It’s for Daron. Lunchtime’s here, so I won’t be joining you in the cafeteria.”
Calista shot Zara a teasing look and said, “I know, I know. You’re having lunch with Mr. Zamora, aren’t you?”
Zara shot her a mock–annoyed look.
“Don’t be ridiculous. He’s just my brother,” Zara said.
Calista grinned, “Yeah, yeah, I get it.
“Come on, even if you say that, everyone knows what’s up.
“That suit you’re wearing? I saw it online. Your face was blurred out in that article, but that suit is pretty hard to miss.”
Zara glanced down at her suit and told Calista, “It’s a coincidence, don’t start making wild guesses.”
“It’s just a coincidence, don’t start making wild guesses.”
Still, Zara’s cheeks flushed as she grabbed the food and made her way to Daron’s office.
Marina stood not far away, quietly watching Zara play along with Calista’s misunderstanding.
Calista, meanwhile, looked like she’d just uncovered some juicy gossip and was absolutely loving it.
Marina just raised an eyebrow, walked over to her desk, pulled out her chair, and sat down.
Calista took the seat diagonally across from Marina.
As she sat down, Calista glanced at Marina and flashed her a smile.
There was a bit of provocation in her smile, along with the look of someone ready to watch the drama untold
‘Now that Zara is part of the Zamora Group, it won’t be so easy for Marina to make up excuses to get close to Daron as she used to, thought Calista.
Marina ignored Calista’s provocative smile, kept her eyes on her screen, and tapped away at her keyboard, editing documents.
Right then, Daron texted her.

[Come in and eat.]
Marina saw the message and shot back a reply.
[You guys go ahead. I’ll head downstairs for lunch in a bit.]
Daron: [?]
Marina simply didn’t reply.
She’d only ordered lunch for two, and now that Zara went in, her share was gone.
She didn’t want to eat with Zara in Daron’s office anyway.
With no response from Marina, Daron’s brows furrowed.

Zara brought the bag over, unpacked the food, and arranged it on the table. Noticing Daron was still lost in his phone, she flashed him a smile, saying, “Daron, lunch is ready.
“Ms. Finley sure knows what you like. She ordered all your favorites.”
Daron glanced at the spread on the table.
‘None of these are my favorites. They’re all Marina’s picks, Daron thought.
But since Marina liked these dishes, he started loving them too.
“Go and call her in for lunch,” Daron said.
Zara nodded, “Okay.”
She was about to open the door when she heard Daron calling Garret behind her.
“Finished with work? Come and take Zara to the cafeteria for lunch,” Daron said.
Zara paused for a moment, her eyes flashing with irritation.
But she quickly got a grip, stepped out of Daron’s office, and headed over to Marina’s desk.
“Ms. Finley, Daron’s looking for you,” Zara said.
Marina glanced up at Zara.
Zara’s eyes were a bit red, but she was doing her best to keep it together.
Marina avoided Zara’s gaze and answered in a flat tone, “Got it.”
Zara bit her lip.
Luckily, Calista had headed to the cafeteria, so she didn’t witness Zara’s awkward moment.
Marina didn’t hurry to Daron’s office like Zara thought she would
She kept her eyes locked on the numbers on her screen, didn’t even look up at Zara.
It was as if making Daron wait for her at lunch was just business as usual.

Zara watched how unfazed Marina was, bit her lip, and was about to say something to hurry her up, but when she caught sight of the data on Marina’s computer, her words caught in her throat.
She thought she’d seen that same file near the shredder earlier this morning.
Zara stood there for a moment, feeling complicated inside, then quietly walked away from Marina’s desk.
