After hearing Marina’s words, Daron spoke in a low, comforting tone, “Don’t worry about me, I’ll be back soon.”
Marina mumbled a subdued “mm” in response.
Just as she finished speaking, Marina heard other people talking on Daron’s side.
Without missing a beat, Marina said, “Don’t worry about me. You handle your work. I’m getting up, too.
With that, she hung up first, not wanting to keep Daron any longer.
After putting her phone away, Marina got up and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

After breakfast, Marina headed to the office.
As she took the elevator up, she ran into Calista and Zara.

Zara didn’t try to keep the conversation with Marina. She glanced out of the elevator, her eyes showing a hint of confusion
Zara found it odd that Daron wasn’t with Marina this morning.
As the elevator doors closed, Zara turned her attention back inside.
Soon, the elevator reached the executive office.
Marina stepped out first.
Calista and Zara followed her out.

She gave a little huff and said, “Zara, she totally ignores you, so why do you even bother talking to her

As soon as Calista finished her words, Zara shot her a disapproving look and shook her head.

“But other than that, I’m a normal person, like everyone else. So please, stop making a big deal out of my status”
Calista bit her lip, a trace of annoyance in her eyes as she muttered under her breath.

“Zara, you’re way too low–key. Look at her. She’s nothing special, but she acts so full of herself”
Zara gave Calista a disapproving look.
Seeing Zara’s reaction, Calista flashed an apologetic grin and slipped her arm through Zara’s.

As she took her seat, Zara shot Marina a quick look.
Marina glanced up, and their eyes met for a moment. Zara flashed her a quick smile, pulled out her chair, and sat down.
Marina didn’t respond at all.
Zara hadn’t been at her desk for long before she picked up some documents and made her way to Garret’s office.
As she walked past Daron’s office, her gaze lingered on the door for a moment.
With Daron off at the Frency branch, Garret was swamped with work today.
When Zara walked in, she saw Garret buried under a mountain of paperwork, his face serious.
Seeing her come in, Garret looked up from his files, shot her a glance, and said, “Do you need something again?”
Garret’s use of “again” made Zara freeze for a second, and she instantly recalled what Hayley had said in front of her last night.
Garret had said she was clueless right in front of Harris last night.
She bit her lip, feeling a pang of embarrassment as she realized she kept coming up with questions for Garret so she could pass by Daron’s office.
She’d been so eager to catch a glimpse of Daron whenever she could that she ended up neglecting Garret completely
Carret was Harris’s grandson.
Harris would definitely take Garret’s word as gospel.
Zara had only started at Zamora Group, hoping to impress Harris and earn his recognition.
When Zara didn’t answer, Garret looked up from his pile of paperwork and gave her a questioning look.
“What’s matter?” he asked.
Zara quickly put on a smile and said softly, ‘Garret, I reflected on my behavior after I got home yesterday and realized I might have been distracting you from your work.
“I saw you were swamped, so I thought I’d come by and offer a hand.”
Zara tried to keep up a smile, but her eyes were slightly rimmed with red

Zara’s eyes showed a flash of disappointment, but she still nodded and went along with what Garret said

With that, she turned and walked out of Garret’s office.

As she passed by Daron’s office, she took a deep breath, her nose tingling as she fought back tears. But she couldn’t help herself. She went up and knocked on his door anyway.
Marina was on her way to Garret’s office with her finished proposal when she spotted Zara knocking on Daron’s door.
She stopped in her tracks and glanced at Zara.
At that moment, Zara turned around and looked at her.
Marina couldn’t help but arch an eyebrow when she saw Zara’s eyes all red and watery, looking like a kicked puppy who’d been bullied.
She remembered that just a minute ago, Zara had seemed totally upbeat to head toward Garret’s office.

As soon as Zara met Marina’s eyes, she swiped away her tears, squared her shoulders, and turned her face aside, determined not to let Marina see how upset she was.
Marina just shot her a cool glance, then walked off toward Garret’s office.
As Marina walked away, Zara took a deep breath, her hands at her sides tightening slightly.
She hesitated for a moment, then trailed after Marina, but stopped outside Garret’s office, standing off to the side and not stepping in.
Marina walked up to Garret’s desk and stood across from him.
Garret quickly motioned for her to take a seat.
“Hey, Marina, what brings you here?” Garret teased.
Marina dropped the files on Garret’s desk.
“Daron asked me to handle this proposal, and I’ve wrapped it up. Mind taking a look to see if I missed anything?” she said.
Garret nodded, reaching out to take the documents from Marina
The only sound in the office was the rustling of papers as Garret flipped through the proposal.
Zara had been stressing that Marina might rat her out to Garret about her little scene at Daron’s door, but Marina didn‘
