1 blinked my eyes open to see an unfamiliar ceiling staring down at me. There was a foul taste in my mouth, and my head felt too heavy even though I was lying down.
Whatever drugs Raines had used to knock me out were strong.
I tried to sit up and even my whole body felt heavy, but I managed to raise myself. But… my left hand won’t move.
I turned to see that my hand was cuffed to the bed.
“That bastard,” I muttered, rubbing my throat when my voice came out too hoarse.
I looked around and I was in a small room, clean, but the smell of dust was heavy in the air, telling me no one had been in this room for a while. And that bastard Raines was nowhere to be found.
1 sighed, resting my head on the headboard, closing my eyes.
Kade. Was he fine? Has he gotten his legs treated? His kneecaps were shattered so it was really serious. I hoped he would take it seriously or he might never walk again.
But he healed really fast, so hopefully, he’ll be fine. Right? Right.
“I really hope you’re fine, Kade.” I whispered. “Don’t let my noble sacrifice be in vain.”
I finally did something good. I wasn’t as helpless as I was last time. I saved Kade. Even though he was shot, he was still alive, and that filled me with relief unlike any I’ve felt before.
When I saw him get shot, my heart stopped for a second there and everything turned to black and white.
But he was alive. He was.
The door opened and my eyes snapped open. I was about to jump off the bed, but the handcuff pulled me back.
Raines stepped into the room, pausing when he saw me.
“You’re finally awake,” he said, shutting the door and stepping deeper into the room, but he stopped a few feet away from
- me.
“How long have I been out?” I asked, my voice as hostile as hostile can be.
“Not long,” he answered. “Just a few hours.”
I said nothing after that, just stared at him.
He cleared his throat, moving to the only table in the room, and pouring out a glass of water.
“I know this might sound like an excuse, but I want to apologize.” I scoffed, and he ignored me as he went on. “I honestly didn’t want to use violence, nor did I want to shoot Kade.”
“This is the first that I’ve heard of a married woman getting kidnapped by an obsessed psycho,” I spat, ignoring the nonsense he was saying. “It’s really shocking.”
“There’s always a first for everything,” he said calmly as he turned back to me, handing me a glass of water.

I stared at it with my eyes narrowed.

“It’s not poisoned, he said, raising it to his lips and taking a sip, and I watched his throat carefully to make sure he swallowed. He did.
I took the glass from him. I was really tempted to throw this water on his damn face, but I was really thirsty.
And I really didn’t want to push this man. He was unpredictable, so you couldn’t know what he would do next.
I sipped the water slowly, sighing as it slid down my throat.
Raines took the cup from me when I was done, dropping it and he sat at the edge of the bed.
I moved away from him as far as I could, gluing myself to the bed frame.
“I had hoped things would go smoother than this,” he said, his hands folded and placed on his lap. “I have been planning for a year now, but all that was in vain.”
“Planning what? Kidnapping me?”
“No, making you mine,” he answered as if it was the most normal thing and I stared at him in disgust.
“In your dreams.”
“True. I can’t make you mine, but I can make you depend on me. That will be just as good.”
“Depend on you? You really are a dreamer.”
“We’re in the middle of nowhere, Belladonna. I’m the only one in this small building, and the only one you’ll be seeing for a really long time. I’m going to provide everything for you. You’ll come to depend on me.” A glint entered his eyes. “You’ll come to need me. That is as good as making you mine. And in a way, you will be mine.”
I could only stare at him. Because he was right.
I would need things like food and water to survive, so eventually, I would need him.
He leaned in slowly, getting in my space, and I pressed myself even harder to the bed frame.
“Got nothing to say?” he asked, his hand reaching out and his fingers caressing my cheek softly. “That’s new.”
I turned my face away from him, baring my teeth at him. “Don’t fucking touch me.”
He smiled, grabbing my leg and dragging me away from the bed frame. He knelt on the bed, towering over me.
“You look like a cornered animal,” he pressed as he caressed my leg that he was still holding. “What an arousing sight.”
“Do anything disgusting and I’ll show you how a cornered animal acts when pushed,” I snarled, glaring up at him, but that glint in his eyes only brightened.
“Oh? I’m actually looking forward to that, my Bella.”
I spat at his face. “I am not. Your Anything”
He wiped the saliva with his hand, staring at it before he looked at me, bringing the hand to his mouth and he licked my saliva off his hand.

The amount of disgust that ignited in me was huge and I just glared at him.

He suddenly grabbed my jaw, bringing my face closer to his. I turned my face away, but he forced me to look at him, his hand tight on my jaw. So hard that it felt like it was going to break, and I knew it was going to bruise.
“I’m not going to force myself on you,” he said, his breath fanning my cheeks. “I’m not going to stoop that low. And I’m also a very patient man, Belladonna. I’ve waited for a whole year, and I can wait some more. You’ll come to need me, and you’ll beg me to fuck you.”
“I would rather die,” I snarled, my voice low and harsh.
“You’ve always been prideful, my Bella. That’s one of the things that made me so attracted to you. But how long will you be able to hold on to that pride? We’ll see.”
He let go of my jaw, getting off the bed and moving to the door. “For spitting on me, you’ll be punished. No water for a day.”
