Ivy had complete confidence in herself. She pulled out her phone and called Madge.
Madge answered quickly. “Morning, Ivy.”
“Morning. Has the dress I asked you to order arrived yet?”
Tomorrow was Roger’s birthday party, and she had arranged for a custom gown weeks ago.
Madge said, “I was just about to call you. The dress arrived this morning. You can go and try it today.”
“Good. Come with me.”
“Alright. I’ll meet you at the boutique.”
After hanging up, Ivy called out, “Wanda, I’m heading to the studio.”
“Okay, but have a little more to eat first,” Wanda said. “You’re eating for two now. You need the nutrition.”
“I’m full. I’ve got work to do.”
With that, Ivy left.
Ivy and Madge arrived at the boutique, where a sales associate hurried over to greet them. “Good morning, Ms. Quinn.”
“Hello,” Ivy said. “My custom gown has arrived, right?”
“It did. Please follow me.”
The associate led Ivy and Madge inside. Soon, Ivy saw the dress she had ordered.
It was an ivory silk gown. It was simple in design, but the fabric carried a soft, elegant sheen that matched Ivy’s quiet grace perfectly.
“You can try it on now,” the associate said professionally. “If anything needs adjusting, we can tailor it here right away so it’s ready for tomorrow’s party.”
Ivy appreciated the efficiency. “Let’s try it on.”
Madge took Ivy’s purse. “I’ll wait out here.”

Ivy followed the associate into the fitting room and began trying on the dress.
