“Still, I can’t stand it. I’m too possessive to accept that someone dares to look.”
“Fine. But no killing on impulse, Adrian.”
The smile he gives me is enough of a warning that future headaches are on the way.
“Where is this restaurant?” I ask, just to change the subject.
“Go straight. At the second entrance, turn right and then left. You’ll soon see the sign for the establishment, huge and written in Portuguese.”
I do as he says, keeping my eyes on the road.

I spot the restaurant and park the car. Adrian gets out as soon as the vehicle stops, walks around the hood, and opens the door on my side, extending his hand.
“My love. The gesture draws a silly laugh from me.
“Don’t think this is going to buy me off; I’m still mad.” I take his hand and step out..
And if I cover you in kisses, will you forgive me?” I stare at him firmly, which makes him whimper. “Love, please.”
He hugs me, his black eyes fixed on mine. When he leans in, I yield to the kiss. His arms go around the back of my neck, and the contact deepens. I try to resist, but I fail miserably, returning it. He smiles against the kiss.
This little manipulator from hell knows I can’t resist his kisses.
I hold the back of his neck, pulling him by the waist, A groan escapes between our lips, and we only pull apart when we run out of air.
I’m still mad. I run my thumb over his mouth, drawing a smile from him.
“Sure. He kisses my chin. “Let’s go; I’m starving.”
He intertwines our fingers, and we head inside the restaurant, A hostess approaches us.
Good afternoon. A table for father and son?” She asks, casting a look at Adrian that doesn’t please me,
His hand grips mine so hard I have to stifle a groan.
‘Father and son?” His tone changes immediately, turning somber.
He raises our intertwined hands, showing our wedding bands.
“A table for a couple, not this father and son‘ bullshit.”
‘Adrian.” I rub my thumb over his hand, trying to calm him down.

It’s no use. He glares at the hostess, making her blush and bow her head.
I am so sorry, gentlemen. It was a mistake.” Her voice trembles.
I squeeze his hand back, trying to contain the damage. If I don’t do something, she’s going to end up dead. I pull Adrian against my chest, forcing his face to hide in my neck. He takes a deep breath and hugs me, finally calming down.
I look at the woman.
“Can you take us to our table?” I speak firmly.
“Y–Yes, of course. Right this way. She leads the way.
I kiss Adrian’s hair.
“Let’s go, love.” He grumbles low but follows me.
The table is a bit secluded, away from the curious eyes that still follow us after the commotion. Adrian pulls out the chair for me and only sits down after
I’m settled.
“I will bring…” the hostess tries to say, but Adrian cuts her off, dryly.
“I want to be served by someone else.” The cold, dark tone makes her swallow hard.
*O–Of course, sir. I’ll be right back.” She practically trips over her own feet leaving.
He huffs, irritated.
“Son of a bitch. How can she say we’re father and son? We don’t even look alike. And besides, you’re hotter, more handsome, sexier… more everything. He rolls his eyes, which draws a laugh from me.
I hold his hand over the table.
“And you are also beautiful, hot, and sexy, my love. You still have that angelic face. I bet she said that because she was interested. He clicks his tongue, visibly bothered.
*I should kill her. I can’t stand anyone looking at me with desire. Just imagining it makes me sick. A brief pause follows, then a crooked smile. “Though, sometimes, that attraction serves a useful purpose,”
I roll my eyes.
“I’m grateful that you love me. Being your enemy must be hell.”
He laughs.
“You’re exaggerating, love.”
He kisses my hand tenderly, and soon another waiter approaches,
“Good afternoon, gentlemen. Here is the menu.” He hands them to us and steps back slightly. “When you’ve decided on your order, you can call me. I’m Jack.”

As soon as he leaves, I open the menu and look for the Brazilian food section.
Do you know what you’re going to order, love?” he asks, analyzing the menu with interest.
“I’ll have the feijoada with rice, farofa, french fries, filet mignon, and an orange juice,” I say, scanning the menu.
“Good choice, love. I think I’ll order the same, but with mango juice.” I nod.
I spot Jack nearby and beckon him over. He approaches immediately, notepad in hand.
“Have you decided, gentlemen?”
Yes.” I give our orders, and he writes everything down quickly.
“Perfect. It will be ready in thirty minutes at most.” He steps away, leaving us alone.
Adrian begins to caress the back of my hand with his thumb.
“I left the manager in charge of the company in my place,” he says like he’s mentioning something trivial.

“Why? You know your father won’t like that one bit.”
He shrugs, unconcerned.
“I’m tired, Magnus. I want to spend the rest of my life by your side. The company is stealing that from me, just like college stole it before. Since I became CEO, we barely have time to talk. It’s not the life I want. I want to wake up with you, make your breakfast, spoil you, and travel by your side. I’m rich; that’s enough. I don’t need more.”
The sincerity in his voice pulls at my heart. I squeeze the hand I have in front of me, returning the affection with a light touch,
‘I understand. It’s been hard for me too. We spent years glued together, and suddenly, everything changes. If that’s what you want, I won’t stop you. I like our time together, Damn, I’ve become too spoiled.”
The comment draws a quiet laugh.
“And that’s exactly what I want: to spoil you, to keep you at ease. I want you to focus on what you like: the boxing, the shooting lessons… I want us back.”
I smile, tilting my head,
“I love you, Adrian.” The smile he gives me makes my heart race,
“And I love you even more. I love hearing you say that, even if you only do it at our annual weddings. We laugh.
‘I don’t need to repeat it all the time; my actions speak for me.”
‘I know. But hearing your voice say it is always a gift.”
I shake my head, smiling.

Before he can respond, the waiter places our plates on the table. From the embarrassed look on his face, I know he heard everything.
