When they returned to the private room, the gathering quickly broke up. As the others left, Sam offered to drive Tracy.
Sean picked up his jacket from the chair and said to Sam, “I’ll take her.”
“Then I’ll leave her to you,” Sam replied, and walked out.
“Still not moving?” Sean looked at the dazed Tracy.
She hurried to catch up. She had wanted to say she’d just ride with Sam, but she wasn’t given the chance.
Sean hadn’t brought Gary this time; he was driving himself. Tracy walked to the back door of the car and pulled it open.
Sean’s deep voice came from the front. “I just had a drink.”
Her hand froze on the handle. She blinked at him, confused. So? What was he trying to s
“Drinking means I can’t drive,” Sean clarified, then opened the passenger side door and sat down.
So he wanted her to drive. Why couldn’t he just say it outright instead of making her guess?
Shutting the back door, Tracy walked around and got in the driver’s seat. As she fastened her belt, Sean leaned over at the same time to fasten his.
Their hands brushed, and Tracy jerked hers back as if burned. Only when Sean clicked his into place did she reach for hers again.
But no matter how she tried, the buckle wouldn’t snap in.
Was it because she was too nervous?
Just as she bent her head to look, there was a click. Sean had fastened it for her, his warm touch brushing her hand. She quickly pulled back, uncomfortable.
Sean’s dark eyes settled on her. “Did you drink fake wine?”
“No. I’m just not used to this car.” Tracy started the engine, and the car rolled forward smoothly.

So this was his idea of giving her a ride-making her his chauffeur. What a generous man.
“Where to?” she asked, steering, glancing at him resting with his eyes closed.
“Home,” Sean said lazily. “I’m taking you home.”
She almost laughed. Wasn’t she the one driving him? Who was taking whom, really?
When they arrived, Tracy stepped out and saw Gary already waiting. She pressed her lips together. Of course-big bosses always had people waiting on them.
Back inside the house, Tracy went upstairs, opened her computer, and began studying.
Her phone rang. It was Trevor. She swiped to answer.
His voice came down the line, heavy with accusation. “Tracy, did you go to Garden Pavilion to work a side job today?”
Tracy’s eyes narrowed. “Yvonne told you that, didn’t she?”
So quick to haul her in for questioning. They really wasted no time.
Trevor sighed. “Tracy, Yvonne is your sister. Why do you always target her? Did you say something to Morten that made him refuse her as a student?”
Tracy’s lip curled. When she’d returned to the room, no one had even mentioned Yvonne. Clearly, she hadn’t been on their radar at all.
But because Tracy had gone into the room, Yvonne had decided it was her fault the was denied.
Pathetic.

“You said I was just there working a side job, right?” Tracy sneered. “Since when do I have the power to sway Mr. Morten? If Yvonne failed, maybe you should consider whether she just wasn’t good enough.”
But no-she had to blame someone else. Yvonne had always been that way. Shoving blame onto others came as easily to her as breathing.
Trevor snapped back, “Tracy, your sister is excellent. How could she not be good enough? You, on the other hand-you never even finished your degree. What right do you have to judge her?”
Tracy’s smile was cutting. “If she’s so excellent, why did Mr. Morten turn her down? And why is

it that every time she fails, somehow it becomes my fault? You people are unreasonable. It’s shameless.”
She hung up before he could answer. Glancing at the clock-nearly four-she bent back over her work.
The next morning, Tracy rose early again, cooked herself porridge, and left for the office.
She had barely arrived when Mr. Felix, his face grim, called her into his office.
He set a report on the desk in front of her. “Ms. Tracy, the financial report you filed earlier contained serious errors. The company lost five million because of it.”
“You’re usually meticulous. How could you make a mistake like this? I suppressed the news for now, but the amount is too large. It won’t stay hidden long.”
He trusted Tracy—but the evidence was right in front of them. If they didn’t find the culprit, she would be forced to carry the blame.
Tracy looked over the report and immediately saw signs it had been tampered with.
“This isn’t the report I submitted. Someone altered it. To prove it, I’ll show you the original files saved on my computer.”
Mr. Felix rubbed his brow wearily. He’d known Tracy couldn’t have made such a sloppy mistake. In all her years at the company, her errors could be counted on one hand.
Tracy brought in her laptop, pulled up the saved document, and showed it to him.
His expression hardened. He called in his assistant and ordered an immediate department meeting.
When the notice went out, staff exchanged uneasy looks. They turned to Greg. “Greg, do you know why Mr. Felix suddenly wants a meeting?”
Greg shook his head. “No idea. Ask him yourself.”
Pointless.
Soon, the finance team was gathered. Mr. Felix slapped the tampered report onto the table, his face dark.
“Someone altered Ms. Tracy’s report. Whoever it was, confess now.”
“If I have to find out myself, I’ll make sure you’re ruined and blacklisted from the entire

Eyes darted around the room. No one stepped forward. No one even flinched.

Mr. Felix exhaled in frustration. “It seems the culprit isn’t in this department. Ms. Tracy, what should we do?”
Tracy shrugged. She already had a very good idea who it was-but she wasn’t going to say it.
Though Mr. Felix buried the incident, word quickly reached the president’s office.

Tracy shrugged. She already had a very good idea who it was-but she wasn’t going to say it.
Though Mr. Felix buried the incident, word quickly reached the president’s office.
Quinton, after finishing his report, hesitated. “Mr. Gaunt, the financial report prepared by Madam caused the company to lose five million.”
It gave him a headache to even mention it. Technically, the loss was the company’s own money-family money. As a subordinate, he should’ve stayed out of it.
But since the president never cared about his wife’s affairs, someone had to say it.
Chandler’s pen stilled. His brows furrowed. “Since she made a mistake, then fire her.”
