Natalie, drinking and cursing, said, “That scumbag Leon-I suffered so much with him, but it still meant less than a single, childish plea from his crush. Tracy, tell me, are all men on earth the same despicable lot? Chandler is like this, and Leon is like this, too. I begged my brother to help him with his project. My brother said he was no good, and I didn’t believe it then, thinking my brother was prejudiced. Now I believe him.”

She took another drink of hard liquor, choking until tears streamed down her face. “He has a huge ego. I kept it a secret so he wouldn’t think he was sponging off me, never letting him know what I did. Now that the company is big and successful, he’s acting like he’s the one in charge. Isn’t that ridiculous? That damn scumbag is never satisfied with what he has. They should all be stoned.” Thinking of the years of effort that now felt like a joke, Natalie’s heart bled.

Tracy tried to snatch the glass from Natalie, but Natalie dodged her. “Tracy, just let me drink. I really can’t handle this anymore. I genuinely want to rush over and tear that wicked couple apart. Who would have thought a man who was once so good to me could fall prey to his crush’s seduction!” Natalie grew more upset, her tears falling like strings of broken pearls.

Tracy reached out to comfort Natalie, her own eyes glistening. “I understand how you feel right now. But Natalie, you’re luckier than I am; you have a family that loves you. Unlike me, whose family treats me like an enemy thanks to Yvonne and her mother’s manipulations, I still managed to get through it, didn’t I? Why don’t you join me and start a business? Who needs men? We can get rich together!” Thinking of her past, Tracy felt a wave of sadness, but now it no longer mattered. Let everything scatter with the wind!

Natalie squinted, threw back another glass of liquor, and collapsed onto the table, mumbling, “Sounds good. Get rich together.” After mumbling this, Natalie closed her eyes and quickly lost consciousness.

Tracy called a server to watch Natalie and went to the restroom. Passing a private room with the door slightly ajar, Tracy heard the conversation inside.

“Mr. Morten, I will study your advice carefully and hope you will become my mentor and continue to guide me. My sister, the one I spoke of, has always been academically excellent and exceptional in every way. I hope you will consider her. If you agree to take Yvonne as your student, we can invest even more money in your research lab.”

In that moment, Tracy felt only bitter irony. They obstructed her return to work at every turn. Yet, for Yvonne’s sake, they were pulling every string and offering huge sums of money to get her accepted. That is the difference between love and lack of love! How utterly ironic!

Back in the room, Tracy called Natalie’s brother, Bryan Sand. “Bryan, come pick up Natalie. She drank too much at the Gold Club.” Bryan answered and hung up. He arrived at the private room in less than ten minutes. Seeing Natalie passed out on the table and the empty

bottles, a look of pain crossed his eyes. Bryan asked Tracy, “What happened to Natalie? Why is she drinking so much?” He remembered his sister always held her liquor well; she wasn’t the type to get drunk easily. Something must have happened to upset her enough to drink her sorrows away here.

Tracy sighed and explained the situation to Bryan. Bryan furiously pounded the table. “That damned Leon! I told Natalie he was no good, but she wouldn’t believe me. For that man, she broke ties with our family, and now, so soon after, he’s done this to her. I won’t let that scumbag get away with this. Everything he gained through Natalie, I will take back with interest.” Anyone who dared to betray his sister, Bryan, would have to pay the price. The Shen family would pursue this to the end. Anyone who betrayed genuine affection deserved to swallow ten thousand needles to satisfy the wronged party’s hatred.

Bryan drove Tracy home. Tracy looked at the sleeping Natalie in the back seat. “Natalie has been under a lot of stress lately. Please comfort her when you get back.” Bryan nodded. “I will.”

After watching their car drive away, Tracy turned and went upstairs. She got home around nine that evening. She drank a large glass of water and went to take a shower.

The next day was the weekend. Tracy slept until she woke up naturally. Just as she finished making oats, there was a knock at the door. Tracy put down the oats and went to open the door. A tall figure stood there: Sean.

He was wearing a black casual outfit today, and his facial features were distinct and profound. Whether it was her imagination or not, she felt that Sean, dressed casually, had shed some of his usual sharpness and seemed gentler. Tracy paused for half a second, then smiled and greeted him. “Sean, are you on holiday too? I just made some oats; would you like to join me?” She had deliberately made extra today, planning to work on her thesis at home and eat oats all day.

She only said it as a polite gesture, assuming Sean would decline, saying he had already eaten. Instead, Sean curved his thin lips. “Sure, I haven’t had breakfast yet.” He had actually heard movement inside, knew Tracy was awake, and was about to ask her to join him for breakfast. Since she had already made food, he didn’t mind eating with her.

Sean came in, and Tracy brought a steaming bowl of oats from the kitchen. The oats smelled sweet and fragrant. Soon after, Sean finished the entire bowl. Tracy, on the other hand, was eating slowly, managing only a few bites before stopping. She put down her spoon, about to clear the dishes. The bowl in front of her was suddenly taken away. Before Tracy could react, Sean took it and drank the rest.

Tracy couldn’t help but remind Sean, “That bow of oats was mine.”

“Mmm,” Sean acknowledged. The oats in the bowl were quickly finished. He knew I had eaten from it, but he still drank the rest. Doesn’t he think that’s unhygienic? While Tracy was lost in thought, Sean finished eating, took her bowl, and went straight to the kitchen to wash the

dishes. She stood there in shock. The Johnson family heir actually washes dishes? That’s incredible.

She suddenly thought of Chandler. In all the years she knew him, he had never once set foot in the kitchen. Even when Tracy cooked for him, Chandler would think she was being redundant, since they had a housekeeper. Why should she bother with those chores?
