Chapter 97 Grandma Collapses While the Family is Away
Seeing her startled reaction, Sean offered a rare explanation. “You look weak, so I just offered my shoulder. Don’t read anything into it.”
He had been too impatient.
She smiled faintly. “I’m not overthinking it. Thank you for your kindness, Sean. I’m fine now.”
She really wasn’t overthinking it; she simply resisted being touched by others, likely because she was still in a defensive state.
Sean handed Tracy the oats he had brought. “You didn’t eat breakfast this morning, so you must be hungry. Have a little to warm your stomach.”
Tracy accepted the bowl. After thanking him, she forced herself to eat the oats despite feeling slightly unwell.
The test results were available half an hour later. When the results were placed in front of Professor Martin, he couldn’t help but frown.
As the saying goes, don’t fear a laughing doctor, fear a doctor who frowns and sighs. A frown indicated seriousness, and a sigh meant it was even more severe.
Watching Professor Martin frown, his expression solemn, Tracy’s heart leaped into her throat.
Has the cancer started to spread?
If so, does that mean I have to undergo chemotherapy and surgery?
The possibilities made Tracy feel anxious, and cold sweat broke out on her forehead.
Sean suddenly held her hand. Feeling the dampness in her palm, he looked down at her. “Very nervous?”
This time, Tracy didn’t resist Sean’s touch. Instead, she nodded. Professor Martin had been frowning at the results; how could she not be nervous?
Noticing Tracy didn’t pull away, he squeezed her palm gently, his deep eyes growing darker.
“Don’t be afraid. Professor Martin is an expert in this field. He will definitely cure you.”
Tracy nodded. Sean’s comfort was like a guarantee, giving her a measure of calm.
Her tense nerves relaxed significantly.

After finishing the examination report, Professor Martin looked at Tracy seriously. “Who and what have you been exposed to recently? How could the cancer have spread so rapidly in just one month?”
Although this young girl was only in her early twenties, she had such severe stomach cancer, and it was showing tendencies toward the advanced stages.
Hearing this, Tracy lowered her head, her scalp tightening. She had thought her condition hadn’t improved, but she hadn’t expected it to spread.
Tracy explained softly, “I apologize, Professor Martin. I have recently encountered people and situations that caused me a lot of stress. I promise I will stay away from them from now
on.”
She had indeed had a difficult, turbulent month and many issues had weighed heavily on her mind.
This was what caused the disease to worsen.
She vowed never to let it happen again. To live longer she had to distance herself from those people.
Professor Martin ignored Tracy’s explanation and looked at Sean. “How are you looking after your girlfriend? Her disease is so severe, yet you keep letting her get angry. That is too much. Her condition is serious now, showing tendencies toward the advanced stage. If it continues like this, she’ll need chemotherapy and surgery!
At this, Professor Martin adjusted his reading glasses and added, “My advice is to switch to targeted drug therapy for a period and come back for regular check-ups. Most importantly, maintain a relaxed mood. The best medicine is secondary; a good mindset is crucial. Do you understand what I mean?”
Sean met Professor Martin’s reproachful gaze without flinching. He apologized, “Thank you for the reminder, Professor Martin. I will definitely not let her get angry and worsen her condition again.”
Tracy looked up at Sean. What did he mean by that? Did he mean he would be looking after me from
now on?
I didn’t dare to think any further.
I wasn’t afraid of charging ahead and giving my all, but life is unpredictable, and people’s hearts are fickle. The emotional fallout was too great; I was afraid I couldn’t handle it.
After picking up several bottles of targeted medication-which were different from what she had been taking-she began to feel uneasy.
Glancing at Sean, who was answering a phone call nearby, she felt utterly useless. Not only

Sean’s phone hadn’t stopped ringing while they were together, showing just how busy he was.
Yet she kept troubling him. That’s not right. She felt a sense of guilt.
When he finished his call and his tall, imposing figure walked toward her, Tracy said, “Sean, if you’re busy, you can leave now. I have my medicine, and I can go back on my own.”
Sean looked at Tracy with deep eyes. “Is anything making you uncomfortable? Should I drive you back?”
Tracy shook her head. “No need. I drove myself here; I can go back on my own.”
Seeing her insistence, Sean didn’t press the matter. After giving her a few instructions, he left the hospital.
Tracy put the medicine bottles into her purse. Just as she tossed the eco-friendly bag into the trash can, Linda’s voice came from behind her.
“Why are you here at the hospital? Are you feeling unwell?”
Tracy’s heart sank. Did Linda see me putting away he medicine? She felt uneasy.
If Linda knew she was sick, Grandma would likely find out right away, and she couldn’t let Grandma worry about her.
Her scalp tightened, and her fingertips turned slightly white. I feel caught red-handed.
Composing herself, Tracy turned around and smiled at Linda. “It’s just a slight cold. I came to pick up some medicine; it’s nothing serious. By the way, Linda, why are you here at the hospital? Is someone sick? Did you come to bring food?”
Seeing Linda at the hospital made Tracy feel uneasy, probably because Linda had almost caught her hiding the targeted medication.
Linda squeezed the paper in her hand and sighel. “Madam suddenly fainted this morning. Everyone in the family was out, so I had no choice but to have the driver bring us to the hospital.”
Sarah’s health had always been poor, and after she broke her leg, her condition deteriorated further. She was often dizzy and had headaches.
Sometimes she was lethargic and couldn’t be woken up even at mealtimes, and she ate very little.
Hearing that Grandma was sick, Tracy immediately grabbed Linda’s hand and asked

worriedly, “Linda, how is Grandma doing now? ‘s Saturday; why is no one at home? Where are Faye and her daughter?”
Looking at Linda, Tracy felt relieved that Linda hadn’t seemed to notice her hiding the medicine. If she did, it would be hard to explain.
But it was very strange that Grandma had collapsed, and the entire family was absent.
If she remembered correctly, besides Jared, who was genuinely busy, the rest of the family usually wasn’t that occupied.
Saturday was generally a rest day, Grandma collapsed in the morning, so how could no one be home?
When Tracy brought it up, Linda’s eyes filled with resignation. “Ms. Yvonne said they haven’t been on a trip in a long time. Now that they’ve secured the Vector Tech contract, she wanted to go relax.
