The room fell silent. Now that the Johnson family’s golden boy had spoken up to defend Tracy, no one dared to provoke her.
Jared stood up, raising his glass. Swallowing his displeasure, he forced a smile and said, “Mr. Johnson, there must be some misunderstanding here. But regardless, my brother was reckless. I apologize to you on his behalf.”

I can only imagine how you bully her when I’m not around. Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were her mortal enemies. You just hurl slander at Tracy without understanding a single thing. Is this the sincerity you’re offering? Taking pleasure in bullying someone who’s with me?”
He deliberately emphasized the words “with me.” If these people couldn’t understand plain language, he would have to make it crystal clear.
When Tracy heard Sean defending her, she instinctively looked up at him, only to find he was already looking at her. Their eyes met. Staring into those deep, dark eyes, she felt they were like a bottomless vortex; it would be easy to get lost in them if she looked too long.

Tracy had no desire to listen to them discuss business any longer. She stood up and said to Sean, “I’m going to the washroom.”
