“And another thing. On the third anniversary of Mom’s death, why did Yvonne suddenly fall? She didn’t fall before or after, bu

After saying this, Tracy turned and pulled Sean away. She had spelled it all out for them. If they still couldn’t understand, they were truly hopeless.

Looking at the hand Tracy was holding, the corner of Sean’s mouth lifted in an imperceptible smile.

When the two returned to the private room, everyone except Jared was still there, chatting about something. The moment they walked in holding hands, the conversation stopped abruptly. Everyone stared at their joined hands.

Tracy’s eyes crinkled slightly at the corners. Her gaze swept over the group. “What was everyone chatting about? You all stopped the second we came in. You weren’t badmouthing us, were you?”

It sounded like a joke, but Lincoln and Perry looked guilty. They had been badmouthing her. Even Quincy looked away guiltily, not daring to meet Tracy’s eyes. It seemed she had said plenty, too.

Tracy glanced at the three of them and smiled. “It seems you all enjoy gossiping about people behind their backs. Come on, tell me. What exactly did you say about me?”

She pulled Sean down into their original seats. She had wanted to pull her hand back and had tried to break free a few times without success, so she finally gave up.

The three of them avoided looking at Tracy, turning away as if to signal they had no intention of engaging with her.

Just then, two police officers walked in. The moment Quincy saw them, she started to tremble. She instinctively grabbed Yvonne’s hand like it was a life raft.

That damn girl was right-the police actually came. Wasn’t this place by reservation only? How did these two officers get in?

Quincy’s grip was painfully tight, and Yvonne frowned in annoyance but said nothing. Quincy, on the other hand, was pale with fright. She whispered to Yvonne, her voice trembling, “Yvonne, Tracy actually called the cops! What do I do? I really don’t want to go to jail!”

Her mother had been hounding her for money. If she really got locked up, her parents wouldn’t lift a finger to bail her out; they would just curse her for being useless. The moment

Yvonne patted Quincy’s hand reassuringly. “Don’t panic. Just wait and see what happens.”

Though she said this, she felt unsettled. This was Sean’s territory. The police couldn’t have gotten in without his permission. It seemed Sean’s feelings for Tracy were truly extraordinary.

The two officers first showed their badges, then one asked, “Who called this in?”

Before Tracy could speak, Quincy shot to her feet. “I’m the one who called.”

At this, every single person in the room snapped their gaze to Quincy. The sudden reversal stunned everyone. It was completely unexpected.

Tracy also watched Quincy with amusement. What was this woman trying to pull now? It was just a last, desperate struggle. Tracy wasn’t worried. She’d let her flail for a bit.

The two officers glanced at each other, seeming a bit hesitant. The older one stepped forward. and asked Quincy, “May I ask your surname, miss? And why did you call the police?”

Quincy froze for several seconds before stammering, “My… my surname is Ginger. I called the police because of Tracy. She’s slandering me without any evidence. She’s claiming I framed her uncle. I was only fourteen back then How could I have done all those things? Tracy keeps provoking me over and over, but she has no proof. You have to arrest her!”

In a moment of desperate inspiration, she had decided to throw this out. In her mind, she wasn’t really framing Tracy, so it wasn’t slander. Because she wasn’t the actual caller, her tone lacked conviction, but that didn’t stop her from making her case.

The younger officer tugged on the older officer’s arm and whispered, “The lady who called in was named Ms. Xander, not Ms. Ginger.”

The officer, addressed as Officer Jorge, nodded slightly. He then said politely to Quincy, “Ms. Ginger, is it? You claim Ms. Xander slandered you. Do you have any proof of these claims?”

Quincy choked. What proof did she have?

Her eyes darted around. Biting her lip, Quincy said, “Officer, do you really need proof for something like this? I… I don’t have any proof…”

Officer Jorge cut her off. “A moment ago, you said Ms. Xander was slandering you by accusing you without proof. By that logic, aren’t you slandering her by accusing her without proof? Are you sure you want to proceed with this?”
