Yvonne pursed her lips. It seemed she hadn’t expected Sam to ask this. A flash of awkwardness crossed her face, but she quickly regained her composure. She considered her words carefully before speaking. “Mr. Zach, you misunderstand. We are not questioning you. We simply feel that since this is a cooperative relationship, it should be a win-win for both parties. We shouldn’t let outside interference terminate the negotiations, should we?”
The “outsider” naturally referred to Tracy. She believed they would understand without her having to state it clearly. She was entirely dismissive of Tracy’s presence. The encounter with Tracy at Vector Tech that afternoon had already been unpleasant. If Tracy now dared to interfere with the cooperation between Xander Corp and Vector Tech, she wouldn’t hold
back.
She was very interested in AI-assisted diagnosis and treatment and had always wanted to meet the person named Z. Collaborating with Vector Tech was the closest she could get to Z, and she might even get to meet Z in person someday. Her plan to become Z’s apprentice had been somewhat challenging. The last time she had dinner with Mr. Morten’s teacher, she had only managed to resolve a few issues that were bothering her. With Mr. Morten’s guidance, she was almost certain her current thesis would be approved. She absolutely could not allow Tracy’s presence to ruin her efforts now.
Tracy looked up at Yvonne. This woman’s method of sowing discord was truly annoying as ever. Every time she spoke, she was making thinly veiled references, subtly stabbing her in the back, yet giving her no opportunity to find fault with her words.
Sam curved his lips into a smile. “Do I need Ms. Kander to remind me how to do my job? Do I need to be clearer? You were a step too late; someone has already invested in our new project. It’s not due to any outside interference. Understood?”
Yvonne’s face went pale for a moment. She instinctively looked at Tracy. Could the investor be Tracy? But the next second, she dismissed the idea. How could Tracy have the funds? She was nothing but an abandoned orphan. Then who could it be?
Tracy stood up and addressed everyone. “I’m going to the washroom.” Staying any longer would make her so nauseous that she might throw up her dinner from the night before. Yvonne was clearly doing this on purpose, intentionally embarrassing her in public. Faced with those hypocritical smiles, she genuinely couldn’t eat a single bite, and since she hadn’t eaten on time, her stomach was starting to churn.
After rinsing her mouth at the sink, she walked out. Just as she reached the smoking area, she heard the voices of Lincoln and Perry.
“Chandler, Tracy’s tactics are getting more advanced. She can even follow you to this kind of event. We really underestimated her.”
“I agree. Tracy is too clingy. No matter where you go, Chandler, she manages to follow you, and to get our attention, she even appears here with Sam.”

“Chandler, you need to properly discipline her when you get back, or things will become very awkward for everyone.”
“If someone sees this, they’ll say Tracy is having an affair with Sam. Doesn’t that make Chandler a cucklord then?”
Tracy boldly leaned against the wall, curved her lips, and looked at them with a slight smile. “If you have questions, why don’t you just ask me directly? Why bother whispering about people behind their backs? Don’t you agree?”
Hearing Tracy’s voice, the two men’s faces flushed with embarrassment. They both looked at Chandler, who was currently smoking with his head lowered. Chandler merely glanced at Tracy, his lips pressed together, and said nothing.
Unsure of Chandler’s attitude, Lincoln immediately put on a smiling face and stepped forward to explain. “You misunderstood. We really weren’t gossiping about you.”
Perry also chimed in, supporting Lincoln. “Yes, we had a bit too much to drink, so we came out for a smoke. We’ll be going back in shortly.”
Their craving for a cigarette led them to step out. They hadn’t expected Tracy to sneak over and eavesdrop on their conversation. After all, this area was quite far from the washroom; Tracy must have deliberately taken a detour, She’s so calculating.
