Chapter 431
Bette and Marina quickly cooperated with Ludwig. They feigned surprise and then left immediately.
Leo moved to go after them, but was held back by Ludwig.
“Mr. Zamora, the boss said he has something to discuss with Ms. Blanchard. He’ll meet you tomorrow, but he wants you to bring Mr. Victor Zamora along,” Ludwig said.
“Did he say anything else?” Leo furrowed his brows, his face looking serious and commanding.
Ludwig shook his head. “Mr. Zamora just woke up and isn’t in the shape to talk much yet, so there’s nothing else.”
Leo kept a stern expression.
Seeing that Daron’s bodyguards had not left, Leo gritted his teeth quietly, but didn’t try to force his way in. In the end, he left.
After leaving the hospital, Leo pulled out his phone and dialed Vrufield to reach Matthew,
The call was answered quickly.
“Daron just woke up,” Leo informed.
On the other end of the phone, Matthew was silent for a long moment.
Seeing Matthew’s silence, Leo continued, “Uncle Matthew, we’re in this together now. You’ve already helped Martin get to where he is, so I hope you won’t back down now or let anyone take his place.”
Matthew let out a heavy sigh and snapped, “Didn’t you say Daron was unlikely to recover this time? So what’s going on now?”
While Daron was out of the picture, they wasted no time pushing for Martin to replace him. Matthew was still scared Daron might come for payback.
Leo let out a heavy sigh and lowered his voice. “All I know now is that he’s awake, but we have no idea what shape he’s in. I’ll be meeting with him tomorrow. I’ll contact you after.”
“With the two of us teaming up, are you really worried about going up against Daron?” Leo asked.
Matthew was silent for a moment, then finally said, “Alright.”
With Matthew’s agreement, Leo hung up.
Back in Vrufield, Martin was sitting on the couch, watching Matthew put his phone away and rub his temples.
“Grandpa, now that Daron’s awake, maybe we should just call off the plan. If we keep working with Uncle Leo, Daron will definitely come after us,” Martin suggested.
“The Zamora family is a huge asset. Do you really think Uncle Leo would just hand it over to us if he didn’t have his own agenda? He’s obviously trying to use us to fight Daron, and when we’re both worn out, he’ll swoop in and take everything for himself. Don’t be so naive,” Martin pressed.
Matthew clenched his phone and levelled Martin with a heavy stare.
“Martin, why are you making us look weak and giving them all the credit?” Matthew asked in a cold voice.

The next morning, Leo showed up with Victor and Verena to visit Dar
Victor followed behind Leo, unable to hide how nervous be was,
Verena looked calm on the outside, but her hands shook as she gripped the gift box she’d brought for Daron
–
Leo stopped, gave them a hard look as he spoke lowly, “With the way you two are acting, nes if Dawn for have a thing he’ll still sense something’s off.”
Verena quickly passed the gift box to Leo’s bodyguard, who took it.
Seeing this, Victor took a deep breath, pulled himself together, and followed Leo into the hospital.
Nearly all the senior managers from the Zamora Group’s branch offices were present outside Daros’s hospital room
Most of them were waiting on the benches outside the door.
When Leo arrived, everyone stood up to greet him, “Mr. Zamora
Leo nodded, shot a look at the tightly shut door to Daron’s room, looking a bit puzzled.
“Why are you all here?” Leo asked.
One of them replied, “Mr. Zamora called us early this morning and told us to come over
Victor’s face fell instantly.
He hadn’t expected Daron to jump right back into work just a day after waking up.
Victor took a deep breath, his hands balled into fists at his sides. It was a long moment before ne could force himself to

relax.
At least the truck driver had already fled to Xetia.
Leo had given the driver a hefty sum to lie low and hide out. For now, even if Daron wanted to catch him, he wouldn’t be able to.
But even so, Leo felt a knot in his stomach as he remembered all the dirt Daron had on him. Leo knew that he was screwed if Daron decided to use those against him.
“Dad…” Victor started, his voice barely above a whisper.
Leo shot him a glare so icy it could freeze the air.
Victor bit back whatever he was about to say and kept quiet, sinking into his seat off to the side.
Verena caught the worry on Victor’s face and reached over, giving the back of his hand a gentle pat, signaling him to relax.
Early that morning, the Zamora Group headquarters sent Leo some official papers.
The Zamora Group’s Frency branch had now become a completely separate entity. Whatever evidence Daron had on them was now worthless.
Furthermore, Matthew was all in with their side without holding back.
Right now, Daron wasn’t running the Zamora family anymore. Even if he wanted to go after Victor, he’d have to wait until he got his power back.
As long as Victor’s hit on Daron doesn’t get exposed, they’re safe for now.
Daron met with all the senior managers from the branch offices first, acting like Leo and his crew didn’t even exist.
Victor was running out of patience as he waited, the tension gnawing at him.
Just when he couldn’t handle it anymore and was about to bail, Ludwig showed up at the door and gestured for them to head inside.
Victor pushed down his anxiety, got to his feet, and trailed after Leo into Daron’s hospital room.
When they stepped into the room, they found the hospital bed completely empty. Daron was nowhere to be seen.
Leo’s face darkened a bit, a flicker of unease crossing his eyes.
Victor blurted out, his voice trembling with shock, “Dad.”
Leo followed Victor’s gaze to the adjoining room and saw Daron walk out calmly in a perfectly tailored suit.
There wasn’t a trace of injury or weakness on him. In fact, there was no sign that he had ever been stuck in a hospital bed.
