Chapter 134
Everyone is looking around wondering what the hell just happened. I look down at the cards and see that my grandmother put the perfect table of contents on the first flash card. I look over at Ragnar as one of the elders begins to recite the Seven Lycan Amendments.
-Should we really be doing this? Isn’t it Ivar’s thing now?– I ask turning my attention back to the elders.
-You’re absolutely right. Hand them to him.- he replies.
I stand and offer the stack of cards up to Ivar. He glances in my direction and takes them. I give him a thumbs up and move to sit in my chair this time. Ragnar lets out a heavy sigh. I glance over at him trying my best not to laugh.
I thought I had been prepared for any version of this man, but as usual he sets the bar too far out and surprises me. Flirty Ragnar Axel is going to get me into trouble. The kind of trouble we’re not going to be able to take back. Kind of like what’s happening now
There are a lot of disapproving faces as the amendments are read. I’d hate to be in Ivar’s position at the moment. This is going to be rough. My phone vibrates in my pocket and slip it on to my arm rest trying to be as discreet as possible. It’s a message from my grandmother.
-Did u jst hnd Ivar my fish crds?
-Yes, I did. It was Ragnar’s idea.- I message back. Ragnar clears his throat. -Something about him needing to step up for his region.-
-Good girl.- He praises.
-I c tlkng 2 d king nw
-Who taught her how to text?– I ask Ragnar.
-They both text like that. My dad knows how to do the cool artsy shit with symbols. It’s maddening when he’s bored.-
-Get off ur phone, Sophia.- a text from Ivar pops up on my phone. -wtf is this?–
-ur promotion- Ragnar types in for me. I look over at Ivar to make sure he saw it was his brother and not me.
blindside- he responds.
-uve got an outline. Use it.-
I hear the exasperated sigh and know without looking that he’s officially done replying. Another bubble pops up
alryt he agrees.
I bump Ragnar and tuck my phone away. He smiles and looks over at Ragnar to give him a nod Ivar glares down at the flash cards and begins to review everything on there. There’s really nothing on there the three of us haven’t already discussed. This is just the final draft. I sit back and try my best to lock in.
Although, Ragnar is in a playful mood. It’s distracting.
I don’t even catch the end of the Elder’s speech because as soon as I zero in the man turns around to face the two of us. For a moment, I feel like a deer caught in headlights. I play it off or attempt to play it off by turning my attention to Ivar who only had about three minutes to review the flash cards.

Without skipping a beat, Ivar sets down the cards on the podium in front of him and stands. I almost jump out of my skin when the elders salute him. Ivar smiles and bows his head in acknowledgement. The sound of their growl echoes in the high celings and the stomp of their boots thunders with his personal salute.
“Good afternoon, everyone. I want to begin with thanking all of you for taking time out of your busy schedules to be here to today. My name is Ivar Axel, second born son of King Baldr Axel second of his name.
“Before we start our discussion, I know you all might want to know why I’m the one standing here instead of your King. Our ranking system isn’t determined by our bloodline. It is messured by our accomplishments. See, in our race, we don’t hide behind our alphas or betas. We stand by our King and our King leads by example.
“We must carn our fill at the table and the more you take in the name of your king the better you are rewarded. This region now falls under the jurisdiction of the second born prince of House Lycan and if I ever need my King to come down to correct anything in my region, I know that I have failed him. Take a good look at our King and Queen because this just might be the last time you ever see them
The elders and the Lycans present applaud him.
“One Febuary third, twenty–sixty–nine, Alpha King Alex Preston signed the final decree trading Lycan King Ragnar Axel the city formally knowns a Artume City as compensation for the raid that caused the death of three royal members of House Lycan, he shuts the folder and looks up at the pack elders. “We’ll start there.
“I want to clear the air about the situation you all find yourselves in,” he walks down to the center of the room. “We never asked for this. In fact, all we wanted were the Romanos and for my lovely sister–in–law to be rid of a terrible situation.
“You all know the one side of the story and chose to believe the story that was the most convinient to you and your alphas. I want to say I speak for my entire race when I say you people are disgusting. You look down on one of your own simply because they’re a little different from you. You call them unworthy and turn a cheek when you see they’re clearly being
abused.
“Your ranking system is terminated as of now. Until everyone is evaluated and registered, all you all are is dogs. There are no Alphas, Betas, Elders, or Omegas.
“You all belong to us. As of now, your worth will be measured by your ability to be useful. You must all try your best to impress. As General of the City, it is my duty to ensure that our civil servants function at their best. This will include Lycan reformation Lycan re–education and etiquette. Our wolves will not be making fools of us when our backs are turned.
“I would like to remind you all that the only reason we are sharing formalities with you all is because of our Queen. I don’t know why she would even care about the lot of you. Yet here she is, putting her reputation on the line for you all
“With all due respect, Prince Ivar Axel. Artume City is not exactly a place that can fall off the map. You need us as much as we need you now. I urge you to reconsider removing the ranks. The bloodlines collected here have a certain speciality they deal with to keep the economy we provide moving. Is that not the real reason why we’re here? Elder Pedro Rueben speaks.
up
Ivar looks over at me with a smile. They don’t understand what’s happening. Everything they know is gone. Any connection to the werewolf world has gone up in smoke. They aren’t people of the wolf world anymore They’re not people at all.
“The City formally known as Artume City no longer exists From today forth, this is Aesirberg. The Fifty–eighth Lycan State. You seem to be under the impression that you are all civilians here Let me put this into words you can all understand. You are not part of the Wolf hierarchy anymore.
“This city, its government, and economy no longer exist outside of the Lycan States. You all belong to me. We are choosing to keep you all in the positions you will be granted out of the kindness of our hearts, but as of now. You are all servants of the Lycan Race Your King has betrayed you and given you away to protect his secrets You’re property. Nothing more and nothing less. So you see, we don’t need a single one of you. But you do need us if you want to keep on living”
